Burch" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Chapter Name Suggestion I was watching an episode this evening and thought of a great name for a Chapter (if anyone's looking!) - when Barney said in debating Andy for the office of Sherrif that all that 'your sherrif has in the trunk of the squad car is a shovel and a rake' Goober pipes up over Andy's shoulder with those famous words, "ain't you got a jack?" - well, if it's not taken I think that's an incredibly good name for a Chapter - "Ain't you got a Jack?" Chapter ---- YO! I love it!! From those Goober-loving folks at the "Which Andy Taylor Are You?" Does anyone know why this character was written out? Nancy >>> Warren appears in just 12 episodes, all during the sixth season. The character just never seemed to work, mainly because the audience was so fond of Barney Fife that they couldn't bear to see anyone try to fill his shoes (size 7 1/2 B). Also, the writers were still writing scripts as though Don Knotts was playing Andy's deputy. It almost seemed as if they just re-used some leftover scripts written the year before, crossing out "Barney" and writing in "Warren." Needless to say, this was doomed to fail since no other actor could pull off that type of material. Jack Burns was fired from The Show on Christmas Day of 1965, and to this day he's still bitter about the time he spent in Mayberry. In recent years, he provided the voice of Vince in the popular long-running series of crash-test dummy commercials, but now that Lorenzo Music (voice of the other dummy, Larry) has died, there may not be any more of those ads produced. For them that don't know, Lorenzo Music was best known as the voice of Garfield the Cat, and before that, as the voice of Carlton the Doorman on "Rhoda." - --Paul ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Oct 2001 09:25:49 -0700 (PDT) From: Mark Johnson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: GI stars who have appeared on TAGS I know Bob Denver & Alan Hale JR. have appeared on TAGS.Has any other GI stars appeared on TAGS? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Now I don't want to start a moulage, but Tom Silby run off to Louisiana, I think. He didn't pretend he was dead, it was his wife Annabelle, not Henrietta, who told everyone that he was dead. And as far as Thelma Lou goes, my memory isn't what it used to be. But I don't remember her dumping anyone. I remember she was shown married in a color ep, but in Return to Mayberry, she was single. Whether she was a widow or a divorced lady, it don't say. And, again, tryin' to be as nice as I can, who's Linda? Do you mean Lydia? Are you sure you've watched TAGS, that means The Andy Griffith Show. I hope that I don't get a "Rude" for this, but I just had to speak my mind. Might just be that my toupee is on a little too tight. Or as Opie figures, it might be the meatloaf. Mr. Schwump ===== http://www.schwumpster.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Make a great connection at Yahoo! "Man in an Hurry" Actually, in the episode "Man in a Hurry" I believe it's the Mendelbright sisters ("Maude lives here and Cora lives in Mt. Pilot...")who visit by phone every Sunday afternoon. I don't believe it's specifically mentioned but I assume (though I'm not sure) Maude was Barney's landlady when he rented a room from Mrs. Mendelbright (or "Brendelmight" when Barney's gassed). Was Maude indeed Barney's landlady?? "If you never saw that lamp then don't talk!"
