One movie that comes to mind is my personal favorite,"The Day The Earth
Stood Still". Frances Bavier is there along with Hugh Marlowe and the
man who played Mr. Masters.
Mr. Marlowe played the record company rep who recorded folk songs with
help fro Ellie Walker.

Subject: Isn't there a way to Protect the Mayberry "name"?
Allan, isn't there a way to protect the Mayberry name and "memory", when it
comes to products or merchandising?
I ask because for a year now we have wanted to go to a restaurant we glimpsed
while visiting a large city in Oklahoma. We finally got to visit that city
this week end so we decided to go to that little diner with the Mayberry
name;(there
were 4 or 5 in that town).
I went with two cameras and we were all excited, expecting some fun and even
good food. (They advertised good, home cooking-style food). It was
heart-breaking!!!!!!!
That's what it was, heart breaking!!!!. In EVERY way...it was a bad experience.
They had used photos of TAGS friends and characters on their menus; they even
had a few photos in frames on the walls. Very FEW.
We left upset and almost angry that the idea and name of Mayberry could have
been exploited in such an "ugly" way.
ISN'T there SOMETHING that can be done to protect the names, characters and
memory of Mayberry and its people a la the "Lucy" estate, products and
places/things....
thanks.....

There was never an episode in which Barney's permanent departure actually
took place before our eyes. But during the color years he returned for five
more appearances, the last one being the "summit meeting" episode in January
1968. To answer the other question, TV Land has probably done more
Fandemonium weekend marathons already of "The Andy Griffith Show" than any
other show in their archives, believe it or not. Just keep an eye out, it'll
be back...

On another color ep., Opie mentioned Mobile (Alabama) when he was listing
towns about which Keevy Hazelton had sung.

Hello,
This may have been asked before, but does anyone out there know how to do
the paper latter trick that Malcolm does for Opie?

If I'm not mistaken, the very last episode Barney was in was when they had the
Russian people over to stay at the Taylor's. They were in the US for a summit
meeting and wanted a quiet place for them to stay. Of course, this was one of
the last episodes of TAGS, so it wasn't Barney's last REGULAR appearance. I
don't think they had any lead-up to Barney leaving on TAGS. I think he was on
the last episode of whatever season, (5th?), then he was just gone. Was it
when the show went to the color episodes that
he left? I'd have to go look at the TAGS book to tell you for sure, and I'm
too lazy right now. Besides, the cat is asleep on my lap and she'd be mad if I
got up! :) Lisa
