Subject: WBMUTBB's 10th Anniversary
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Back in the fall of 1990 I was on the Prodigy computer network and I started
a "subject" on the Prodigy "bulletin board" system called "Andy Griffith
Show". After that first message I was joined, over time, by over 57 other
folks who enjoyed talking about Mayberry.
On the first anniversary of that first message, we decided to make our group
of TAGS fans a "real" chapter of The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club
(TAGSRWC) so we had people send in their suggestions for a chapter name and
"Whobs Been Messinb Up the Bulletin Board?" (WBMUTBB) was born.
Official verification of our chapter arrived by mail on November 29, 1991 in
the form of out Chapter Charter from TAGSRWC Headquarters in Nashville
I left Prodigy and for about 6 months I was out of touch. Then I saw in THE
BULLET a note from Kevin Johnson and Jack Fellenzer requesting that folks
email them to talk about TAGS. I emailed them right away because I missed the
fun and fellowship I had with fellow TAGS fans and the WBMUTBB Chapter folks.
That note in THE BULLET resulted in the WBMUTBB Chapter being expanded from
just being on Prodigy to being on the whole internet and by August 1, 1994
the internet version of WBMUTBB had 25 members.
Kevin Johnson kept up with the member list for right around 6 months then,
beginning with the "New Member Update" of December 21, 1994, the
responsibility was given back to me. We had 50 members on that update. By
the end of 1998 we had 608 members which grew to 1356 December 31, 1999 and
we now have over 1,740 members.
Our online Mayberry friends have come and gone but I would like to mention
several of our Charter Members who have been with us from the begining and
are STILL here and an active part of the WBMUTBB Chapter:
Bob Bravetti
Jack Fellenzer
Allan Newsome
Pam Rodda
Kathy Jo Stahl
(If you were with us at the beginning and I didn't list you, PLEASE email me
and let me know.)
In the last few months we've had "growing pains" because WBMUTBB's mailing
list became so large that the software we use to mail out the WBMUTBB Digest
to all of you each day could no longer handle the number of members. So,
we've just finished the move to a NEW software system that has changed the
look of the Digest a little but I hope it will also allow us to continue to
grow and enjoy our little corner of Mayberry for many years to come.
So, Happy 10th Anniversay to the Who's Been Messin' Up the Bulletin Board
Chapter and may we continue to enjoy all the fun and fellowship that Mayberry
has to offer.

[Now, who can come up with references for Colorado and Connecticut?]
Denver is mentioned in one of the episodes. I think it was when Andy, Opie,
and Aunt Bee are going to California. One of the Mayberrians (is that a word)
wanted Andy and family to stop and see a relative in Denver. Since they were
flying, it would have been a rather difficult stop, but I think they settled on
Andy calling the relative from California. Does anybody remember that better
than I do? I hope so. It is still too early in the morning and my coffee
hasn't started working yet.

You'd be dang'ol right that
where Uncle Ollie and family is
from is indeed Lake Charles, Louisiana.
My Hometown.
I can only imagine what it'd been if
Andy, Opie, and Aunt Bee went there
to visit.
Ollie taking Andy and the boys to
the Creole Nature Trail for some
alligator tug-of-war'ing and
doing some crabbing. Andy eating
"boudin" for the first time, Otis could've
showed up on a riverboat looking for
good'ol Cajun White Lightning!
With them all at nighttime having a
crawfish feast, maybe even with
Aunt Bee having a romantic interlude
with Justin Wilson while visiting the set
of his TV Show.

Subject: Don Knotts on Search for Tomorrow
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
The other day I got some classic TV show tapes in the mail, from Shokus
video. One of them is something I have always wanted to see...a 1953 "Search
for Tomorrow" episode with a very serious dramatic turn from Don Knotts! He
plays a guy who has a psychological problem of some sort that keeps him from
talking to anyone but his sister. It's very surreal: we see him unconscious
(possibly under hypnosis) as, inside his head, he's trying to open several
locked doors (apparently repressed memories of some sort). Very
fascinating...has Don ever done anything else serious?

Subject: TV's longest role...Goober?
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Sorry, that last message galloped away too quickly...
There's been a lot in the entertainment media lately about Kelsey Grammer
being in his 18th year as Frasier Crane, having portrayed him on both
"Cheers" and "Frasier". The record in television is currently James Arness
as Matt Dillon on "Gunsmoke." But depending on the criteria, and if my info
is correct, the record holder could be someone entirely different. We know
George Lindsey first appeared as Goober on "The Andy Griffith Show" sometime
around 1964. That would be four years on TAGS, three on "Mayberry RFD," and
up to 20 more (!) in sketches on "Hee Haw." That would give him up to 28
years in that role and the true record? Anyone else here have similar
information?

I am still new to the list, but I am gonna jump right in here!
About naming states, didn't someone want Andy to call her neice who
lived in Arizona while he was in California and tell her that everyone
back in Mayberry was fine? Or was it another state?
Also, big congrats on 10 years! I am sure glad y'all made it this far,
and I hope we will be a list 10 years from now!
y'all be good...

Many series have done Christmas episodes through the years on
television, but to me the " most special " of all still is
" Christmas Story " from TAGS. It still gets me everytime I see Ben
Weaver singing at the window. It has heart,
comedy & after all these years still, a message of brotherhood in these
troubled times. If your interested go to our clubs
website, we have a Mayberry Christmas Quiz on-line & ready, just go to

and have fun!!........Happy Holidays, Dave & Pattie....A Dollar and a

I believe a lady asks Andy to call a cousin in Colorado while he is in
California. He replies that CO is several states away and she becomes
indignant.

could have got you a present. Maybe 2 watches. Each
