In the episode, "The Woman Speeder", Andy tells the speeder that she sure
doesn't "set a good example for someone who lives in the capitol of the
nation", after he gets her stopped, so we know she lives in Washington, D.C.

>>>When y'all were naming Alaska, did someone mention Goober's reference?
In case it got skipped, when Lee Drake came to Mayberry looking for Andy,
Goober told her he'd left town, and that he thought Andy went
to Alaska, and might never be coming back.
>>>
Yep, we got that one, and the one about Baked Alaska (you know, it's that
new dessert that's come out since it become a state). However, there was
one other that nobody mentioned: In "Barney and Thelma Lou, Pffft!" Barney
says, "There's plenty of guys livin' full lives without women. What about
the guys that sail the seven seas or mine for gold up in Alaksa?"

>>> I'm told TV Land gets the full uncut episodes from Viacom unlike other
stations and does their own editing, Paul?? Any input on this point??
My question is... has anybody ever seen any of these tapes and does anyone
know when/for what reason they were sent out?
>>>
Viacom OWNS TVLand (or maybe it's the other way around), so if they don't
have complete copies, nobody does. Perhaps someday, maybe for the 50th
anniversary, they'll show complete episodes.

Hidey,
Having made something of a study of Andy's monologues, (and
performing 2 at mayberry days this year), I think Romeo and Juliet
is the only intact monologue from Andy's early days, that appears
in the show (almost intact). The actual monologue has some other
references that were a bit oo "romantic" for Ope not to mention
60's tv. But funny, you really should hear them all. True genius
and fun.
Have only found bits and peices, lines, from the rest of his act.
but a few songs that andy did early on crept up on the show too.
Of course, Andy knew a good thing when he found it (or wrote it)
and thankfully its on film in TAGS. What I would like is actual
film of Andy performing his nightclub act from the 50's!

Dan's right about the TAGS reference to kleptomenerac
on Matlock. I was watching once as Ben was
questioning a witness on the stand, and he told the
story about one of his childhood friends who liked the
same girl that Ben did. According to Ben, when this
friend would see the girl he'd throw both arms up in
the air and say this little poem, "If I seen ya comin'
I'da know'd whatta do. I'da throwed up boff arms and
I'da wove at you!" Sound familiar?

Hey Chad ..
Those tapes you bought on eBay are TV Land promotional items that were sent
out to the media. Both were packaged a few years back with a tape of "INSIDE
TV LAND: The Andy Griffith Show." Clips from "Danny Thomas" and "Opie the
Birdman" were featured in this special episode, so the additional tapes were
included for review purposes right before it aired.
I'm a newspaper reporter and watched the tapes after they arrived at our
office. I'm not sure they were supposed to be sold.

Hi everyone .. I hope y'all had a great Thanksgiving!
I've been reading the discussions about times that Andy's comedy routines
were used during the TV show, and I haven't seen anyone mention the history
lesson. When Opie and his friends were having a hard time learning history,
Andy told them about the shot heard around the world and the ride of Paul
Revere. I think that was a part of some of his early comedy stuff, too .. Do
I win a prize?

Hi Boys (and ladies as the case may be),
In reference to "Hawaya" ,as Goober says when wearing a beard, I remember
that the mayor was on vacation in Hawaii when the governor came to town and was
presented the potato by the "Potato Queen". I think the sewer director or
someone sat in for the mayor because he made a good presence. This were 'color
ones', do they count?

p.s. best of luck to you and yours!

BABY LUCK
- It's good luck for a new baby
to wear hand-me-downs.
- Never call a baby "angel."
- Never tickle a baby under the
chin or stammering will result.
- Don't let a baby sit on a stone or
cold-heartedness will result.
