In today's Raleigh News & Observer, Jim Jenkins writes an editorial about
the record session of the North Carolina General Assembly and suggests
twelve rules to keep future sessions below 90 days. The entire article is at
http://www.newsobserver.com/thursday/news/editorials/Story/841413p-828256c.html.
However, in the interest of time, I'll only mention a couple of his rules.
4. Famous banana pudding in legislative cafeteria placed off-limits to
lawmakers; remains available to members of the media.
8. Lawmakers' soft chairs in chamber replaced with straight-back,
cane-bottom versions.
12. All current members of General Assembly banned from watching reruns of
"The Andy Griffith Show" forever.
Rule #1 was not "Obey all rules" but I bet Mr. Jenkins was thinking that
when he was writing the editorial.

One trick or treat reference I don't remember anyone mentioning is in Bookie
Barber. When Barney dresses as a women, Opie and a friend see him in the
street and say something about trick or treating. I don't remember the
exact quote.

I know others have commented on this but when I read Mr. Bullock's comments
of 11-21, I was amazed at his genius. He turned a short e-mail into
something more. I could see and feel he and Allan "pawing" thorugh old
scripts. What a blessing it must be to be so talented.

Lisa and the rest,
I love Mayor Pike, he's musch goofier and lovable than Mayor
Stoner, although Stoner made a great foil for Andy to infuriate.
I think Andy refers to Mayor Pike as little fat mayor, and
immediately after, the mayor calls himself that, a great gag.
They were worried that the movie company would make fun of their
"littel fat mayor". This is all from memory, but I'm sure its
accurate.
By the way, has anybody seen a GOMER PYLE USMC, that had the town
of MAyberry in it? None of the regulars were there, all out of
town, but the Burt Mustin, but Gomer ends up on his trip to visit
home, working Goober garage for him? Just thought the TAGS fans
would be interested.

Hey Frances,
When impersonating Goober, first you have to get your Cary Grant down to a
tee: "Judy, Judy, Judy!"

Hello fellow Mayberrians!
This is in response to the question from one of our members about
impersonating Goober. Well, you definently have to have an oil rag hanging
from your back pocket. And be sure and wear your pants pulled way up and
don't forget the "Goober cap." Don't know where you would find one of those.
Hope everyone's holidays are wonderful!

Subject: Happy 10th Anniversary to WBMUTBB
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Hey Folks,
Today is the day...well, by the time you get this....Yesterday was the day.
10 years of the WBMUTBB Chapter here online!! Wow....
I got to looking back and up until November 5th, 1999...I did the WBMUTBB
Digest by hand everyday. Wow...now, of course, it's mostly automated and I
don't have to work quite so hard to keep things running (most of the time)
but I really can't believe that it's been 2 years since we went automated.
Seem like just yesterday.
Anyway, I thought it would be neat to find out how many issues of the WBMUTBB
Digest there have been over the years. I wasn't able to determine exactly
how many but since 1996, by the banks best estimate and their machines are
gooooood, there have been 2,319 issues of the Digest.
If I were to take pretty good guess, I'd say that in 1995 there would have
been about 264 issues and from August 4, 1994 through the end of that year
about 85 or so more.
So, since the e-mail version of the WBMUTBB Digest didn't really start until
1994, there have been approximately 2,668 issues of the WBMUTBB Digest since
the chapter started.
Folks, that's a lot of words about our "hometown" of Mayberry that's floated
across the web. Thank you all for the well wishes and "thank you's" that
I've gotten but I have to tell you, this chapter wouldn't be here if it
weren't for the great people that have come together as members. You folks
keep things fresh and fun each other and it's always a pleasure to read
what's going on in our little corner of Mayberry.
I hope you all had a special day and that we keep going strong for years into
the future.

Didn't Aunt Bea talk about playing the "Little Princess" when she lived in
Peoria. I think it was on the "Lady Mayberry" episode. Would that qualify as
Illinois? There was also a reference on the Beverly Hillbillies once when
Dash Riprock used his real name, Homer Noodlemen from Peoria, Illinois.

We pass the Mayberry Trading Post on our way to Mabry Mill along the Blue
Ridge Parkway from Mt. Airy and it is indeed a wonderful step back into the
past. It's especially thrilling to cross the bridge with the sign that says
"Mayberry Creek". Thanks for the link, Allan!

Subject: " Mayberry Memories "
As a chapter leader in a sleepy little Ohio town, I am always so
thankful for the atmosphere I live in. I'm also thankful
for a fictional little Southern town called Mayberry that lives in all
of our hearts, this is my tribute I wrote tonight:
"
Mayberry Memories "
Theres a
show that I know
that
aired long ago
it
was set in a sleepy town,
there
wasn't alot of action,
but
there was much satisfaction,
as we
visited that TV hometown.
The
sherrifs name was Andy
and he
didn't wear a gun,
but
cousin Barney did,
and he
had alot of fun.
The town
drunk Otis Campbell,
and his
barber friend named Floyd,
were
always hangin' round,
and
added to our joy!!
We will
always fondly remember
Little Opie & Aunt Bee,
Goober,
Gomer & The Darlings,
and
of course Old Ernest T.
Many
years have passed,
Since we first met all these folks,
but
thank goodness there are reruns
and we'll never break that yoke!
They are to us our family
from TV long ago,
& in our hearts we'll keep them,
& never let them go!!!
THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!!!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM " A
DOLLAR AND A QUARTER " CHAPTER
