Subject: Columbia House tapes

There was some discussion on today's digest about the Columbia House tapes
being way too pricey, and the "deal" someone found at Sam's Club on a set of
TAGS tapes. I've seen those sets at Sam's and other places, but I can
guarantee you that you won't get the whole, unedited versions of the episodes
in those sets, and you WON'T get the picture quality that you get with the
Columbia House tapes. I agree they are a bit pricey, but they sure are worth
the price when you see how good the picture quality is. I'm working on the
second set of those tapes, and I sure do hope they do all 249 episodes. Most
folks like the B&W episodes, and I am kinda partial to em too, but I assure
you the color eps also are good in their own way. After all, they ARE still
TAGS.

My name is Linda from Kansas....I just wanted to say how fun it is to read (
when I can...I don't get online very often, it seems) the comments ! I am a
huge fan of the Andy Griffith Show. I have a lot of them taped, but am
missing quit a few. Does anyone have the entire series taped? In order? If
so please write me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Ben Weaver had the part of a lawyer this morning on a BW episode of Jeff's
Collie. He was very sharp, and saved Lassie. This reminded me of the early
episode, "The Eviction", when Andy used the law to stall the foreclosure.

Subject: Be somebody...?
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Yesterday DDAN221 posted a message that ended with the phrase "be
somebody". I always tell my daughter to "act like somebody" when I send her
off to school in the morning. She told her grandmother "dad always tells me
to act like somebody but he never tells me who".
Just thought you'uns would think that was funny.

Subject: You want more Columbia House video's?
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
This is in response to an e-mail from some time back. Someone sent a message
to WBMUTBB asking people to write to Columbia House requesting more episodes
of TAGS. Well, that won't work. The only message that they'll get is if you
BUY THE TAPES! If your already buying them, let your buddies know that, yes,
they're a little more expensive than something you might buy at Wal-Mart, but
the difference is you get the complete episode and it's quality is unmatched,
period. I guess what I'm saying is, if you have 10,000 people writing to CH
that they want more video's, but there's only 500 people buying them, it's
not going to happen.
Now, go out there and act like you got some smart!

Answer:
Because they WERE wrong.
It's like video tapes-- you get what you "pay" for (deserve.)
Columbia House IS the most expensive place to get TAGS tapes.
It's ALSO the best! I've seen TAGS tapes for as little as $2.98, each,
but they're ALWAYS the SAME 50 or so episodes... usually inferior quality.
The LARGER the box set-- the MORE they are cut. If you want QUALITY, PRICE,
and UNCUT, you want Columbia House. If you want someone ELSE whistling a
DIFFERENT opening and closing credits' go CHEAP!
The cheapest Q-U-A-L-I-T-Y TAGS videos are from Jim Clark--
he's got a few tapes left with like $1.25 an episode on a 15-episode tape...
if you don't have his address, just check out WEAVER'S DEPARTMENT STORE:
www.tagsrwc.com/weavers
In closing, you can tape them off TV for free, and have commercials
and miss a few edited-out minutes, or you can get the full 26, or so,
minutes on the PRISTINE Columbia House tapes.
Just ask Paul... so there! How's THAT for positive?
I'm not only positive I'm right, I'm CERTAIN!

I am not a huge fan of the colr episodes either but a
color episode is better than no TAGS at all which is
what happened on TBS.I agree that there are alot of
good episodes.I love the one when Andy umpires and
also when Aunt Bee buys her car and learns to
drive.I'd rather have the color shows to watch rather
that some of the sludge that they call entertainment
now.At least I don't have to be embarrased about
anything that might show up on TAGS,color or b&w,and
you surely can't say that about today's tv shows.
But ,one thing I noticed the last time they had the
one when Aunt Bee learns to drive, was when she and
Goober are driving away from the house, the road was
dirt. I thought that I'd seen it paved in a couple of
episodes.Correct me ,please,if I'm mistaken.

To the Goober imitator, one of my favorite George Lindsey quotes is this.
He asked Andy Griffith what kind of person Goober should be, before his
first appearance. Andy said that Goober is the kind of guy that would go
into a restaurant and say "Hey, this is really good salt"
Another Mayberry RFD episode I saw with Andy in it was where three boys from
the school had sort of a career day and had to visit various officials. One
was with Sam Jones, one with Howard, and one with Andy. Strangely, one was
Opie's friend Arnold..but Opie was not around.
Another Chicago reference was in Man's Best Friend, one of my favorite color
episodes. When Goober thinks he's going to hit the big time, with his
talking dog, he mentions that he'll probably go to Hollywood, Detroit,
"Chicargo" and Raleigh.
I'm still stuck on Idaho, Iowa and Indiana.
Can you name more than six times that a female was locked in the Mayberry
jail?

ugly daughter. (Beasto Mareesto)

Thanks for the info, I caught only part of that episode and didn't
realize that Ope, Ang, Bee, and Goob show up at the end when Gome
is riding off on the bus. But what happened in the show? Didn't
Gomer end up helping somebody at the station?
Also, can anyone tell me why Aunt Bee goes by BEE and not BEA, her
name is Beatrice, you know! Oh, Andy!!

There's another thing to practice when you "take off"
on Goober, being able to sew your fingers
together.Remember when he entertained the girls with
that talent at the dance that he and Gomer went to.I
think that was the one when Helen and Thelma Lou were
mad at Andy and Barney and wouldn't go to the dance
with them.hey went with Gomer and Goober and Andy and
Bernie ended up with the Fun Girls. And thanks David
for that lovely poem.It was a nice tribute to the town
we'd all like to live in and the show we all love.
Lotsa love to you and yours...............
