TAGS fans,
My favorite color episode is, without a doubt, "Dinner at Eight." We
like spaghetti at our house (though once an evening is usually our high
water mark), but we can't help but pronounce it the way Andy does when he's
at Helen's house. And the phrase "What you need is more sauce" comes up in
all kinds of meals at our house.

Was reading on the JTS website, and it was mentioned
how it seemed strange that Barney, a civil servant,
lived either in the back of the courthouse, or in a 1
room apartment at Mrs. Bendlemrights boarding house,
while Thelma Lou, who no one knows what her last name
was, or where she was employed, lived in a very nice
house. The same goes for Helen, who also lived very
comfortably on public school teacher's pay. All the
"single" or divorced/widowed ladies in Mayberry lived
extremely well, compared to their male counterparts.
One of the Mary's that Andy dated (Sue Ann Langdon?)
had a nice house, we assume Bertha/Clara
Edwards-Johnson did well, Mrs. Mendlebright had the
boarding house, and the social snob who had the coming
out parties for the ladies of Mayberry. (Mrs./Ms.
Wiley, where Ernest T. met Romena). You can just tell
Ellie Walker lived nicely, possibly sharing with her
Uncle. Very strange, indeed. Maybe Barney was just
saving his dough for a nice place later. Gomer lived
in the back of Wally's, with barely a 1 burner hot
plate. Don't remember ever seeing Goober's digs. I
guess life just ain't fair, especially for bachelors
in Mayberry! Didn't Barney also live on Elm Street?
Could have sworn Otis gave his address, while Barney
had him hypnotized. Elm or Oak St. Just points to
ponder.....

You gotta love "The Wedding" (#246) Howard redecorating the
bachelor pad with the bearskin rug, gong, wooden indian,
bead curtains floor pillows and whatnot.
The swiss cheese sandwiches, music on the victrola by The
Silver Herringbones, Name your Poison (grapefruit, lemon
lime, or orange soda?) "AND STILL THEY COME!"
Then the boys wore out Helen on the dance floor and Emmett
put the topper on the evening - I bust a gusset on this one
every time.

P.S. Opie's Group and The Senior Play get my vote too. So

Hey Y'all,
Thanks for explaining Rule #2. I will refrain from writing on the walls.
Growing up I always watched Andy at 4:00, when I got home from school, on
WRAL channel 5 out of Raleigh, NC. I'd sit there directly in front of the
screen with my eyes glazed over. My mom sat on the couch behind me and we'd
laugh together. At 4:30 Happy Days came on, and my mom wouldn't watch that
(probably cause it was a bit too risque for her), but I enjoyed seeing Ron
Howard "grown up."
In 1993 I moved to Boston, and a friend of mine from church filled up about
five video tapes full of Andy. I re-discovered my love for TAGS and sat in
front of the TV with my eyes glazed over once again, feeling very homesick
for NC (In 2000 I moved back).
Some of my favorite color episodes are:
The one where Warren teaches Otis mosaics,
The one that someone already mentioned where Warren is after Helen,
The Taylor's trip to Hollywood,
Opie learning to dance,
Howard gets a new apartment,
Barney dates Teena Andrews (Va va voom!)

Greetings Fellow Citizens, Members of the Town Council, Ladies Auxiliary and
Honored guests,
>I can name more than 6 times a female was locked in the Mayberry jail.<
Way to go Mary Grace Gossage aka Cynthia Mahoney. You came up with the
seven I thought of, plus one more. I'll add to your list of "in but not
locked in jail" ...the little baby girl that was in there when Mayor Stoner
was inspecting things. I didn't know if everyone would remember that Warren
episodes that you cited. Great job.
Thanks Jeff Gossett for the Indiana reference! I feel a whole lot better
now knowing that my home state is on the Griffith map. Too bad the potato
queen doesn't mention Idaho?
I'm still watching a few Mayberry RFD tapes, and I have to tell you a funny
throw-back to the Griffith show. There is an episode where Emmett turns 50.
(though Paul Hartman looked every bit of 60). Millie starts talking about
how handsome Cary Grant is at 60.
Emmett fancies himself as a Cary Grant-type, walks over to the mirror and
says.....
(you guessed it)... Judy Judy Judy. It's classic.
Favorite Color episodes...Man's Best Friend, Howard the Bowler, Big Fish in
a Small town,
Barney hosts a Summit, and Emmett's Brother in Law
Gosh Ang did you think she was from Ancient Greece!

I was watching "Matlock" today, and just had to grin when I heard someone quote
Shakespeare: "The quality of mercy is not strained. It droppeth as the gentle
rain from
heaven upon the place beneath." I wanted to add, "You're not talking to a
jerk, ya
know."

Here's my favorite color:
1 - "Dinner at Eight". Spaaaagheeetttiiiiiiii !
2- Howard runs off to "the islands"
3- Howard catches Old Sam the fish
in reference to:
Subject: Alabama Mention
Caught the episode of Old Sam last night. Haven't watched that one in a
while. At the
end Goober tells Opie that is going to Warrior River next week and ask if he
wants to
go. Well there is a Warrior river in Alabama and it would be fairly close to
Jasper
where George Lindsey is from.
Besides Goober being from around there,
You know OTIS has been there,
those that live near "Warrior",
especially Cullman, understand why.

Hey, let me just put my two cents in.
Although I'm only 17, I love Mayberry. And I just want to say to the guy who
wanted to talk negatively about TAGS this: do you realize what Mayberry
satnds for? Mayberry is escape, its serenity, its getting away from the real
world to take a breather. So, I think Alan was right in saying that we
should carry the same theme on the internet.
The WBMUTBB Digest is the internet mayberry!
