We never see him / her, nor do we even learn their name, but a Mayberry
dentist is mentioned in "Ellie for Council." Otis had been inarculated for
hitting his wife's mother in the mouth with a leg of lamb, and when Barney
comes in, he says "Oh, hi Otis! I just seen your mother-in-law comin' out
of the dentist's."

I do remember this now. I have this one on tape. I don't remember seeing Andy
the Matchmaker. I'm going to tell my dentist that Otis has hit me in the
mouth with a leg of lamb. After all that's what it feels like!
Thanks,
Andrea

I can't ever recall a dentist, but this may make for
another interesting trivia.. Name all of the professions
that are located in Mayberry.

I think this will be a fun trivia to do. I'll have to get my list together.
Thanks,
Andrea

A DENTIST -- GOOD GRIEF! (who knows where that quote came from?)

I know, I know!! Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer. My very favorite Christmas
show. There is a Mayberry connection in this show too, well actually Gomer
Pyle USMC. Clarise Rudolf's doefriend is voiced by Gomers girlfriend. She has
a very distinctive voice.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Paul,

That came from "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", after Herbie told the head elf
what he really wanted to do.

Hey Andrea,

I hope you are feeling better. He didn't play a dentist on the show, but
Dr. Sheldon Golomb, who played Opie's friend Arnold Bailey, is a dentist
today.

>>> ...there are at least two "old" girlfriends [of Andy's] who appear on
the show, by which I mean girlfriends from his high school days and the
like. Those two women are Sharon DeSpain and Alice Harper. Are there
others?

In "Opie Loves Helen," Andy mentions that when he was about Opie's age, he
had a crush on a schoolgirl named Barbara Edwards (for them that don't know,
Barbara Edwards was Andy Griffith's wife's maiden name). Also, in "A Guest
in the House," Aunt Bee embarrasses Andy by telling Cousin Gloria about the
time Catherine Harney "dumped" Andy to go to the dance with Vern Harris.
Andy climbed a tree to watch them, and tore his pants in the process.
