She was the waitress in the episode "Dream Spinner" - had a crush on Howard
Sprague if you can believe that. This was a Mayberry RFD episode - one of
the funniest ones - will that count?

In "Those Gossipin'Men", I don'think Barney claimed NY was 900 miles away. I
think he said "600 miles".

Ernest T. Bass also appeared as the voice of the radio
personality (Leonard Blush I think; someone help me
out). He also appeared as the TV repair man who was
to take Helen's TV to be repaired. I like that
episode because it is one of many that shows Andy's
kind side. How many couples taking a little alone
time would be as nice to Barney as Andy and Helen
were?

Hi all...
Being born & raised in The Big Sky Country, I was wondering if there was
ever a MT (Montana) reference on TAGS? Anybody know?
Best Wishes,

I am 27 and all, but, my Dad gave me one of his
train sets from when he was younger, it is still operational.
I want to build, as I have been planning for years, a
"Mini" Town of Mayberry, complete with trainyard,
so Barney can solve the Ol' Walker Drugstore Case.
Does anyone know a link where I can get an
accurate layout of the town? Some things I'm sure of,
but others are a bit "iffy". Can anyone steer me in
the right direction?
Also, I was watching the color TAGS where Goob's girlfriend
was working at the filling station while he was on his
vacation fishing. They showed a long shot, there was a
mountain I've never noticed behind it complete with PALM TREES.
I guess Howard brought the back from "the islands" and planted them there.
I actually enjoyed the color episodes this time, it seems "peaceful"
watching them.

>>>I was watching the episode where "Tex" runs away from home and Barney
comes flying up to Andy's house with a description of the missing boy (who
is on the porch with Andy). He jumps out of a car that I don't recall seeing
before.
Barney did indeed have his own car in that episode (it was episode # 6,
"Runaway Kid"). In the epilogue, Andy and Opie try to push it up to the
fireplug as a practical joke, but Barney catches them in the act.
The episode "Barney's First Car" didn't come along until almost 3 years
later. By that time, the show's creators (and most viewers) had probably
forgotten about the other car.

She played Opie's secretary. She's only in one or two brief scenes.

Well, thank you Lisa. It is a comfort knowing I am not alone! I DO think
it is a Southern thing, but perhaps only confined to small pockets of
the South... like you and me! :-)

Was watching the last episode,#249,the other night and
my husband pointer out that the train had Union
Pacific written on it.Should have been a more southern
rail system shouldn't it for it to be in NC?
Also caught the episode with Charlene/Doris,but had to
really be watching because her hair and mannerisms
were completely different.
The episode with Howard Morris as another character
was in the episode when Andy and Helen are trying to
have some time alone and go to the lake and Barney
brings the TV repairman down because he isn't sure
about letting him take the set in to the shop. The
repairman uses the name George,I think.
Was watching Leave it to Beaver and had Otis playing
the part of the restaurant manager.
Hope that everyone has a great Mayberry New Year!

Saw the "final" episode, "Mayberry RFD" on TV land last night. I thought
that the girl playing the piano and Sam's girlfriend looked like Maggie
Peterson, aka Charlene Darling, but considering how memorable she was as
Charlene, couldn't believe they would cast her as anyone else. But when
the credits rolled, saw that it was indeed her.
Gol -lee!
By the way, Maggie has been in attendence at several "Mayberry Days" in the
past years, and boy, does she look really good! She must have been
drinking from the Fountain of
Youth!

A couple of friends and I recently had a deep discussuion on this very
subject. We decided that, here in Texas at least, "up to" referred to a
destination to the north. If we went south, we went "down". Going east was
"over to" the destination while we go "out to" places to the west. We didn't
decide what it would be called if we went one of the other directions, such
as northeast.

Dear Grady's:
I didn't check the data base but I'm pretty sure he played George the TV
repairman in the episode where Andy and Helen went to the lake for a picnic.
Barney brought him out there because George wanted to take Helen's set into
the shop. While Howard Morris was a talented actor and director I didn't
care much for the Ernest T. Bass character he got on my nerves.
I don't know how we'd start a Mayberry single's club but would be
interesting in learning how. They always say you should try to meet people
who share common interest with you. What better match then someone who also
loved Mayberry....at least no fighting over the remote...lol....Skippy.

Hi Mayberry friends,
On the episode, "Dogs, dogs, dogs" Barney's lunch got fed to the dogs. His
sandwich was made on salt rising bread. Does anyone out there know where to
get salt rising bread? "Giraffes are selfish." that's why I'm asking all of
you. TAGRWC's folks aren't selfish. They always come through if they can.
Thanks for the info.

Does anyone know if hot-dogs were a big thing in Mayberry? I haven't seen all
of the TAGS or Mayberry RFD shows, but in Matlock Andy is just crazy about
hot-dogs. Does he really love them that much?

In answer to Danny Grady, Howard Morris (Ernest T. Bass) also played a
TV repairman in the episode where Andy and Helen are trying to get some
private time on the lake. Barney constantly interrupts them, once bringing
the TV repairman with him.
