Subject: TAGS as Therapy

In response to Anita from Cincinnati, my family has been using TAGS
as therapy for years (it's therapetic!); when I'm depressed, have had
a bad day at work, or life is closing in, nothing helps like a
couple of hours with Ange and Barn. My husband and I decided years
ago that all life's important lessons can be learned on TAGS; I thank
God for vcr's so I can watch TAGS whenever I need to--even though we
tune in TVLand every night as well!

Do you plan on watching them all?

Didn't you ever hear of a person with a compelsion complex? Ya know, like
when folks gotta be washin' their hands all the time; that's a hand-washin'
compelsion. What you're lookin' at here is a rerun compelsion. You find
compelsion nuts everywhere. I bet I've seen every episode 50 times (the
black and white ones, anyway) but I never get tired of them.

I for one do not understand why anybody in this day and age would only watch
The Show on TV. This is the age of science know-how! Electronal marvels!
Why suffer through all those commercials and wait weeks and weeks for your
favorite episodes, when you could watch any episode at any time, commercial
free?

In my case, you hit the nail on the head. This is exactly why I have 11
tapes full
of episodes. I don't have nearly all of them. I only have about 75% of
the B&W
episodes and lots of repeats. But I am sure the day will come sometime
when these
episodes will no longer be shown. I'm afraid my generation will see TAGS
through and
and the newer generations will not because of all the new style TV shows.

I know many people have commented on the Columbia House videos and a concern
over the price. My wife and I just received our first video and throroughly
loved it. We found segments that had been new to us since we only have seen
them on television, especially on "dogs, dogs, dogs." We think their worth
the price; the quality, both audio and video, are loads better.

The girl that was spurned by Barney when she supposedly wanted to marry him
might have had a Daddy with a mill in Savanah, Georgia, but her so-called
Mississippi
accent was so fake sounding that it made this "suth-ner" notice right away that
something smelled in Denmark. (You can spot those fakes right away if you are
a trained noticer.)

I think it's a great way to indulge a great hobby: MUST... HAVE ..ANDY.. I
got started on my episode collecting kick in Boston. Unfortunately, these
were edited so much as to be virtually unrecognizable. (Basically personal
injury lawyers' commercials with a little Andy thrown in.)

But, like Anita in Cincinnati (Hope she is feeling better) I found these
tapes to be a great comfort in the long, grey Boston winters, esp. after my
best friend got married to a misplaced Arkansan and left me all alone. I
took great solace in Andy.

The answer to

> Do you plan on watching them all?

is, of course, yes. Many times.

Hey, for those who are interested, Cartoon Network is showing guest star Don
Knotts in "The Spooky Fog of Juneberry", one of the Scooby Doo episodes,
early Thursday morning at 2:00 am. Set your VCRs!

Hey, for me being single is MUCH more stressful than if

It is fun watching Andy and Barn play the field though.

Not wanting to step on toes, but, is it fair to ask that question on WBMUTBB,
after
all it is one of the trivia questions in the latest e-Bullet.
We will find out the answers in the next e_Bullet, in the mean time, we need to
get
out those tapes and watch or search through our books.

Anita,

Thanks for reminding me of all the fun I had making my days in college revolve
around the Andy Griffith Show. I can remember in the early 70s actually
scheduling classes around the 11am-12pm time slot just so I could spend 1 hour
enjoying the show.

How much fun it was to forget the pressures of school and relax for just a
short time. It seemed like you could take on the world after that break in the
day.

I thank you much for bringing back great memories.

I didn't spot that but the answer is NO. I don't think it would be good to
have the help of all the experts here on the Digest when answering Miss Crump's
Quiz from the eBullet. I didn't notice it or I'd have said something. I'm not
sure that it's actually "cheating" because you can use reference books and
everything to find the answers BUT lets not use the Digest as a reference for
the quiz since there are prizes at stake.

To Anita in Cincinnati,

I've done exactly the same thing. After being overloaded with images of 9/11
for example, I would put on my homemade tapes of TAGS and just "breathe" in
that clean, innocent atmosphere; it's very healing for any size troubles.
Barney will always be available for a "trouble-check"!

Hi gang....

I checked out he website showing the 40 acre lot and the use of it in the
Superman series. Outstanding....I loved it. Wouldn't it be great if they
could add to that site by showing the Mayberry set on other series also, such
as Star Trek (when the crew beamed down in front of the courthouse or when
Capt. Kirk goes back in time and walks along in front of Floyds). I believe I
remember seeing the courthouse in the background of a Lassie episode too.

Hey Linda, I never thought about it but you're right; the writers didn't
always depict marriage in the best light. That's a shame. Meanwhile,

Subject: TAGS Tapes

Why would anyone want ALL the TAGS episodes? It's called a COLLECTION. Why
would anyone WANT all of them? It's called being a FAN. Having all the
TAGS episodes is a realistically-attainable goal, and it doesn't cost much
to acquire. It's that feeling when you look at your shelf and say, "There
they are....ALL of them....every single episode made of The Andy Griffith
Show." Even episodes that aren't favorites have some very redeeming
qualities about them and contain precious segments or scenes. Imagine
it....someone comes over to your house for the first time and you're giving
them a tour. You come to THE SHELF. "What are all these tapes?!" you're
asked. The golden moment has arrived. You can answer, "Why, this is my
collection of the entire series of The Andy Griffith Show."

Doesn't it just give you goosebumps???

One of the married couples I have not seen mentioned
is Emmett and Martha Clark. They seemed to get along
okay , There was the time Martha thought Emmett was
cheating on her with Flora, when he was actually
trying to get her a mink coat for their anniversary.
Also there was the time that Martha tried to change
Emmett from a fix-it man into an insurance agent like
her brother. All in all I felt like they were one of
the married couples on TAGS that had a good marriage.

As far as a reference to Mississippi goes, I have
never heard it mentioned. Being as I have family in
Mississippi I probably would have given a heads up if
I had heard it. Anyone else ever heard it mentioned?
