The other day while watching an older episode of "Leave it to
beaver",the one in which the Cleavers spend a rustic weekend at a lake.
I was surprised to hear Ward start singing Barney parney poo's love song
to Juanita! "Nita,Juanita". This got me wondering all kinds of things!!!
Well maybe I ought not to be wonderin bout that thing....

I love to watch Barney approach Mr. Flint concerning Frankie getting some of
that female war paint. Flint is standing there with the pitchfork while
Barney is talking. Immediately behind him is a flock of active chickens.
Might even be a duck or 2 in the bunch. But anyway, they're back there
pecking and clucking while Barney's talking. Then Flint tells Barney to get
off his property, Barney turns and makes a quick exit back to the car. He
should have had to step through that flock of chickens, but his exit is shot
from the car position and there is not a chicken in sight. Magic chickens.

Subject: scenes?
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Hey
It seems to me that on TVLand the last 3 or 4 nights that episodes they are
showing include some scenes that I don't remember. I have been a trained
noticer since the begining of the series, but my noticer may be getting a
little rusty. So, my question is, "has anyone notice seeing scenes that they
have never seen or seldome seen on TVLand as of late?"

A few months ago I caught a special about TAGS, they
were talking about how there were no African Americans
on the show. I was watching TAGS on TVLAND last night
and in "Barney gets his man".There is a AA woman
standing behind Barney after he had his 1st encounter
with the escaped convict. Also, in a another episode
(that I can not think of the title) there is another
AA woman in the background.

Subject: fake accents
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
>>> The girl that was spurned by Barney when she supposedly wanted to marry
him might have had a Daddy with a mill in Savanah, Georgia, but her
so-called Mississippi accent was so fake sounding that it made this
"suth-ner" notice right away that something smelled in Denmark. (You can
spot those fakes right away if you are
a trained noticer.)
>>>
That's a very good observation. In this case, though, I think actress
Beverly Tyler probably made the accent sound fake on purpose. She was sort
of playing one character playing another character.
I have never lived in the Deep South (I'm not too far from Arkansas, though)
but most of the Southern accents heard on TAGS sound phony to me too. Aunt
Bee and Thelma Lou had noticeable accents early on, but the actresses
quickly dropped them, apparently because they didn't feel they could "pull
it off." The exceptions on The Show are Andy Griffith, Jim Nabors, and
George Lindsey. All three were born and raised in the South, so naturally
their characters' accents sound genuine.

>>>I checked out he website showing the 40 acre lot and the use of it in
the Superman series. Outstanding....I loved it. Wouldn't it be great if
they could add to that site by showing the Mayberry set on other series
also, such
as Star Trek....
>>>
That's a great idea, Rod! I don't have the "scientific know-how" to pull it
off, but I'll bet there are folks in this chapter who design web pages. If
anybody would be willing to take on this project, maybe the rest of us could
send him or her videotapes of non-TAGS programs which used the TAGS set.
The person designing the page could make still pictures from the images on
the videotapes.
A couple of other shows that used Andy's house are Gomer Pyle - USMC and My
Three Sons. I'll bet we could come up with a dozen or more. I don't recall
ever seeing any episodes of The Untouchables, but I've read that they also
used the TAGS lot extensively.

<<Hey Linda, I never thought about it but you're right; the writers didn't
always depict marriage in the best light. That's a shame. Meanwhile,
congratulations on your many years of marital bliss and best wishes for
continued happiness.
Aunt Bee of Orlando>>
Thanks, Bee, but it hasn't ALL been BLISS. It has those roads in it that
Barney spoke about - you know the "rocky roads and smooth roads", etc.
However, I haven't had to throw any of my dishes at him and have never buried
the divorce proceedings in the ground so I can say all in all, it's been a
good ride. The best thing is that Mr. Goob is a TAGS lover - with that in
common, how can we go wrong.
Goober Linda - I can sew my fingers together

Hiddy all! I was just reading my word of the day when I spotted a few Andy
moments and had to share them with you!
Uvula
(YOO-vyuh-luh)
Ever wonder what that little droplet-shaped bit of flesh is called? Well,
the Romans thought it looked like a "little grape" and named it with a
diminutive form of their word for that fruit, "uva."
"Open wide and say 'Ah,' the doctor requested, as he checked the patient's
uvula and throat.
After all, 'all God's children got an ulva'!
And in the same email:
Animal Fact of the Day
Wednesday January 9, 2002
The hearts of adult giraffes can weigh more than twenty pounds. No wonder
they are such sweet animals: they are all heart!
They may be all heart to the rest of the world, but in Mayberry, 'giraffes
are selfish!'
And since we're on the subject of good 'ole American food favorites in TAGS
(hot dogs), what about pizza? One of my personal favorites! Did anyone in
Mayberry every eat a pizza? Maybe out at Morelli's (sp)?
Lot's a luck to you and yourn!

Allan and everybody,
Wow, sorry about that. Hope you can believe this but I actually
just coincidentally asked that question about comic book
characters, not having read my eBullet yet. Wow, the first time I
pose a question to the gang and its a goof on my part. Sorry for
the trouble to anyone.
Having just had a baby (my wife did actually) and since his name is
unique to a comic villian, I had put off reading the eBullet but
wanted to ask for any comic connections to TAGS. Oh well. Sorry
again.

To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bill in New Jersey mentioned that he would schedule his college classes
around TAGS. That brought to my memory in the late 70's working in a dept.
store and scheduling my lunch hour around TAGS. I would get to the break
room first and have TAGS on before the ladies in lingerie could tune the TV
to the soap operas. Can you imagine wanting to watch General Hospital
instead of Andy?? I worked there a number of years and never could convert
them. I was a failure at being a TAGS missionary. Also, on occasion when I
did not get there first, I went to the Electronics Department and watched
Andy there!

Thanks to all of you who wrote about how TAGS is such
a help after a long day, etc. I am feeling much
better thanks in part to all of you wonderful folks
and of course TAGS. Some people call it escapism, but
I just call it using your smarts. TAGS is such a
soothing way to calm down, and realize what is really
important in life.
To Jason Harrod, yes I do live by a Skyline Chili
restaurant. In fact I live in an older part of
Cincinnati, where I can actually walk to the very
first Skyline restaurant! YUM! YUM!
Thanks again to all of you who wrote, it sure did
help!
.........lots of luck to you and yours........

I have all 349 episodes edited and a backup set, so I never have to worry
about missing anything. I also have a bedroom in my home that is dedicated to
Mayberry. I've started a wall of Mayberry buildings to look like the town. I
just love tags. Susan [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Anita,I think everyone in the digest would have to
admit that the daily dose of TAGS tonic is better than
anything in the sister's remedies(their name escapes
me )It brings that peacefulness of another time that
is sorely missing in our world.I pray that things are
going much better.
As for the question about why anyone would want a
complete set,my question is "Who wouldn't want
one?"Maybe we should get Ol'Barn wo give them a
counseling session and use some of that Siggy Frude
stuff on them.I' rather have a complete collection and
be called a compelshun nut that be clasified as some
of the supposed normal people that are out and about!
