I happened to be checking out a bit of trivia over on the Green Acres site
and stumbled onto a list of the cast. Of course Mary Grace was a regular as
Ralph Monroe, but I was surprised to see Hal Smith as regular for a couple
of years. Of course Sam Drucker had sobered up in the Mt. Pilot jail by
then. Then I saw a link marked Radio. Seems Green Acres' basic premise
came from a radio program with Bea Benaderet and Gale Gordon. Even had a
farm hand named Eb. And who played Eb? None other than Mayor Stoner,
Parley Baer.

Another favorite scene of mine is in the beginning of the show "cant
recollect the name" where Opie has a mask and he is showing it to Andy and
Barney. Barney says "now Opie you know this is not a real disguise" and then
in the end 2 newlyweds come in to report a peeping tom and Barneys puts the
mask on saying " Andy I'm going on patrol " and dashes out the front door. I
laugh so hard at that everytime I see it!!
Alright 3 watch it!

No better example than in last nite's Mr. McBeevee episode
when Andy corners Opie in his room and tries to let Ope plea
bargain his way out by saying that Mr. McBeevee isn't real.
The quivering lip and look on Opie's face when he cant do it
are so real it can't be described unless you see it.
A few years back when my son was about Opie's age I made
this comment and he said "What do you mean, he's not playing
it , he's just doing it"
I think that just about says it all

#50 Jailbreak
A team of convicts is on the loose, and the state police arrive ridiculing
Sheriff Taylor and Barney. Andy cracks the case by focusing on the smallest
details: a trailer hitch and an offhand remark by the dry cleaner about a
suit with dog hairs. This leads to the convict's accomplice, but only after
Barney somehow manages to let the one convict they have captured escaped.

I certainly hope I'm wrong about this but, don't hold your breath. I
remember reading about how "Hollywood" has some sort of grudge against Ron
Howard. I don't remember the whole story, but last nights Golden Globes
seems to back up that statement. For the life of me, I don't see how that
film could have won Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Picture, but overlooked
in the Best Director catergory.

I second the nomination. I think Ron himself put it best when he said that
99% of all child actors are only taught to PERFORM. They are not taught the
art of ACTING, which is a very different thing. Usually what happens is,
once the kid starts to grow out of his/her "cuteness," their career is
finished because they have no marketable skills. Sad but true.

We are told that Barney & Thelma Lou met at Wilton Blair's
funeral in 1960 - right?
However, from the reunion episodes, especially the second
one where Thelma Lou surprised everyone by arriving newly
married, it was obvious that they were classmates in high
school a dozen or more years before that. They didn't meet
each other than? A ladies man like Barn would arranged an
introduction to old Thel for sure (She's the cat's, you
know?)
Just how big was that dang school? Maybe Thelma Lou got
stuck on the fourth floor and Barney was scared of Mrs.
VonRoder? Could be.
Oh well, she is a cutie pie and makes a mean pan of cashew
fudge so I guess I can overlook that.

I told myself I wouldn't jump into the favorite scene thing, because there
are just too many, but now that lots of them are other there, I've got to
mention this one. "Is She Perty?" "She's so nice" "But is She Perty?"
"In our Life, we travel many roads....."
While we're not too far from talking about certain kinds of people, let's
talk Babies. There are four episodes in which Babies are featured. Most of
us could probably name those...BUT can you name about 10 episodes or
instances in which Babies are mentioned or shown (including the four obvious
ones). Since we just recently had a real Baby join the Digest family, I
thought this might be a good topic.
What happens when Floyd (Allan) is gone? Does he comeback to find out
Barney has about half us of locked up in the Barber Shop? "Oh Oh, now that
was Biig Traffic jam"
She's nice, real nice!

ps. My all time favorite episodes have got to be :1)anything with the
Darlings or Earnest T., one specifically being the episode where the Darlings
come to visit and eat supper with the Taylor`s, and Brisco thinks that Aunt
Bee is specializing on him-the part at the table where he yells, "BREAD" and
"MEAT" crack me up every time-if anyone at my house ever makes the mistake
of asking me to pass the bread, well, it is too good to pass up,I have to do
it-"BREAD", and then the whole table cracks up 2) the "poor Horatio"
episode-i know that is not the official title of the episode, but I know all
I have to do is mention Horatio, and everyone who is somebody knows the
episode I mean. I agree with alot of the others who have written in, though,
that just about every episode has one of my favorite parts in it, esp. the b&

I was enjoying the color episode where Howard was
invited by Andy to join the lodge the other night.
When Howard made his first visit to the lodge to meet
everyone and as he and Andy were leaving, Andy said
"goodbye, or see you later to "BURT" (actor Burt
Mustin), and it was him. But listed in the credits at
the end of the show it had Burt Mustin listed for that
show as having played the part of "JUD". Has anyone
else ever seen this blooper? I believe he has played
the role of "JUD" and "BURT" on different episodes of
TAGS.
I have seen Burt Mustin on the Johnny Carson show many
times, and he was a wonderful character that often
cracked Johnny up!

There are favorites in every show.Tonight I watched
the episode about Mr. Mcbeevee, and just lost it when
Barney went out back to see Blackie,Opie's
horse.Sometimes the expressions that Barney has are
better that any words that they could have scripted
for him to say.He has the most expressful (might not
be a real word)face that just him standing there alot
of times is hilarious. Also, someone mentioned The Bobby
Benson Show, and Don Knotts portraying Windy Wales.I
had never heard of that until about a year ago I came
across a book called "Barney Fife and other characters
I have Known".It's Don's autobiography and has
everything about him and his career. It's a good read
if you're a Fifechick like me.
