Sorry folks, I can't resist. There is one line I use quite often when
someone remarks on something being "stupid". You have to screw up your face
just a little when making it or it won't have the same effect.

"Wasn't it though?"

And of course, one of my favorite..."I came to fill my vase."

Also for Oregon, in one of the episode where Barney escorts a pretty girl
to the post office (or hotel) with the squad car, Thelma Lou tells him he
heads right for her just like the Oregon Trail!

I don't like to see anyone taken so that's why I am going to mention this.
While at the HOLLYWOOD COLLECTORS SHOW in Chicago a little more than a year
ago, Joel Rassmussen and myself was looking at this dealers "Mayberry"
related autographs (he had a booth set up). Having seen authentic signatures
of most of the ones that he had for sale, I questioned him about an Andy
Griffith signature that looked like my mother could have signed. He said, "I
got this in person from Andy at a Dinner Theater that he was performing at a
few years ago in South Carolina." Anybody that's been a fan for very long
knows that Andy Griffith has not been performing at a Dinner Theater. Before
I ask about where he got it, I knew that it was not authentic. I only wanted
to hear his story. At the time, I was looking for a Dean Martin and a Gary
Cooper signature, which he had, but having done my homework, the one's that
he had were also fakes.

I have looked at what he has on his web site, and a few of his I would say
are authentic. I wouldn't give a dollar for all of the Andy Griffith and Jim
Nabors signatures that he has, though. Let the buyer beware.

"Daylight's precious when you're a youngun." (Al Becker's favorite
quote)

Of course it dont mean anything if you dont know Al Becker! LOL-I just
couldnt help myself when I saw that one-liner listed-it was an automatic
response!

Just curious-any relation to Al Becker? Of course, you have to know Al
Becker for it to mean anything!

Just saw Elinor Donahue (our Miss Ellie Walker) in an episode of
Star Trek (original series) today. She was playing Nancy Hedford
a Federation Commisioner. She has her life saved by an alien
electrical force but it has to join with her body to save her. You never
know what you'll see a TAGS's Alumni doing next.

Hello all,

First time back on the post for a while. My wife and I recently moved to
Syracuse New York from the Nashville area, so we have been relying on TAGS
for our fix of southern culture. Here are a few lines that I have recently
been repeating;

Yeah, I always like a good crab joke.

ATOMSPHERE!?

Of coarse I saw him if he is in this room, of coarse I saw him!

I havent had an experience like that since since I was baptized.

Well, glad to be back all. Here is a question I have been thinking about.
How many scenes can you think of where common sense was sacrificed within
the narrative of the show for the sake of a punch line? For example, Barney
always says Hello Pussycat (or other pet name) when he calls the diner,
before the person on the other end ever has a chance to say anything. No one
really uses a phone like that. Any other instances where things did not
play out realistically in order to allow for the comedy of the situation?

No he said PUAL thats my middle name Andrew PAUL Lawson.

Two of my favorite lines are: "yes, Miz Vickers, we're still holding
onto Richmond" and "It's the baby," after Andy helps deliver Sam's boy.
When ThelmaLou called from Jacksonville, it might've been the little
military town near the east coast of NC; I lived there for several years
in the early 70s.
Watched part of a rather goofy film last night titled "The Bully" in
which our beloved Don Knotts portrayed a school principal. I'd never
heard of it; how about y'all?
I always thought Aunt Bee was single but it's confusing when Andy says
she won't allow liquor in the house, something about a brother of hers;
wouldn't that then be Andy's uncle? If so you'd think he'd say "our
uncle" instead of "her brother." Maybe she was indeed his aunt by
marriage only and widowed at an early age and dedicated her life to
helping raise nieces and nephews. Ain't it fun conjecturing about our
mythical hometown and its inhabitants?! LOL

I believe South Carolina is mentioned in a radio broadcast at the Taylor
home as being the state from which some convicts had escaped. Can't recall
the name of the episode at this moment.

Hellooo Dolll,

I just wanted to say that I caught a Lucy/Mayberry connection today.
The movie, "The Long,Long, Trailer" with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz was
on today, and as I flipped past it, I saw Howard McNear playing
Marjorie Main's husband. I had to look twice as he was wearing
different glasses and his head was full of thick, dark hair.

you do Mrs. Wiley."4. "Oh Paw, can't I just look at the pretty man."5.
"Beep! Beep! Out of the way, Sunday driver!"6. "Bless his heart."7. "I
declare that boy goes through britches like he was wearing sandpaper
underwear."8. "No one would ever tell a cowboy to pick up his toys."9.
"You and Aunt Bee are having fried chicken and I'm having crow."10. "Get
to it!" Mary Grace Gossage"Fly away buzzard, fly away crow, way down
south where the winds don't blow. Rub your nose and give two winks and
save us from this awful jinx."

Thanks Paul for setting my straight on my State Game miscue. I'm gonna have
to go back to school with Ernest T. Jacksonville is in Flor-i-da. I don't
know what I was thinkin' "my mind just wandered when I was in
school...mostly about girls" OK, so we're still missin' Mississippi.
I'll add Pennsylvania to the list. In that same instance where Otis was
tellin Barney where to find the still, he went through Pennsylvania also.
(I just mentioned Ohio)
Charley Varney, there are at least a couple more farmers. Fletch, the owner
of Jimmy the Goat, and Jeff Pruitt, who came into town to find a wife.
Hello Little Buddy!

I mentioned this the other day, but no response yet, so Ill start this list.
Name the times that Babies are shown, or mentioned.

1) Evie Joy---Te Baby that Aunt Bee couldn't get to stop crying.
2) Andelina-- The Darling Baby--"does she want to hold my finger?"
3) Andy Becker--Sam's youngin' that Andy delivered
4) _____________One more Baby featured as a major character in a story (at
least)
5) Rubber Baby Buggy bumper---Yea that's the one
6) _____________Picture of Baby from the family album
7) ______________other baby references? visiting courthouse?
8) _______________When I was a baby?
9) ______________

Welcome back Allan, Are ya home yet??

Here's an e-z observation from a real life dairy farmer in EC Minnesota
and a TAGS fan -
The owner of "the loaded goat" must have been a farmer!

And I can't believe I missed "The Cow Thief" episode - I don't recall
ever seeing it! Something to look forward to...
