Looking over the intros, it appears that there are several of us on the list
who are Firefighters, EMTs, Paramedics, etc etc.
I don't recall, off of the top of my head, any even reference to the
Mayberry Fire Department (or any other fire department, for that matter) in
TAGS. I remember, of course, Andy and Barney's department, the Raleigh
Department, the State Police, I remember Andy talking to the Sherrif on the
phone in........Siler City, I think it was, but don't remember any fire
departments mentioned. Anyone else recall any?
Regards,
Rick

This Is In Response to Stacey Bry. Since you're
looking for a Trivia Game that similiar to the "I Love
Lucy" Trivia Game, I just wanted to tell you that
there Is Such a Game, It's from the same company that
made the Lucy Trivia Game. I got It several years ago
from my dad, I'm not sure where he got It though. It
might be available at Weaver's. Jeff Doege

This location is Franklin Canyon just a few miles north of Hollywood -
amazingly the path that Andy and Opie walked down in 1960 almost looks the
same today. The water level in Franklin Canyon Reservoir (Myers Lake) is a
little lower today than it was in the 60's.

Subject: gun rack
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
>>>I was wondering if anyone knew when Andy and Barney started locking up
the guns on the gun rack at the courthouse? Or why? In the some of the
earlier episodes they aren't locked up. Larry in OK
As far as I know, the first episode to mention locking the gun rack is
"Banjo-Playing Deputy" (the one with Jerry Van Dyke). Andy is taking a
couple of guns somewhere to be repaired, and after he pulls them from the
rack, he tells Jerry to "lock that back, will ya?" Of course, his real
message to Jerry is "keep your hands off the guns!," which Jerry ignores,
once Andy has left the room.
Why they would ever lock it is a mystery, since the lock is useless. In "TV
or Not TV," the crossbar is in place on the rack, and Barney puts a gun in
without removing the bar, thus demonstrating that one could easily remove a
gun from the rack even if the lock was securely in place.
Trivia time! In the aforementioned scene, when Barney puts the gun in the
locked rack, what is unusual about his uniform? It's unique to this scene;
it isn't like this in any other episode.

Please remember that Weaver's Dept. Store (run by TAGSRWC) is the place you
should check first for Mayberry Merchandise.
http://mayberry.com/tagsrwc/weavers/
By purchasing things at Weaver's, you are supporting The Andy Griffith Show
Rerun Watchers Club. Weaver's is TAGSRWC only source of income and I
encourage you all to check there first and buy from TAGSRWC HQ (Weaver's) if
you can.
They also have an 800 number listed on the web site so if you feel better
ordering by phone you can do that.

Subject: State game and New Trivia questions
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I have been watching the web site and have lost track of where we were at in
the state game, I believe we were in the m's and n's. I was wondering if
there were any people out the interested in starting a new game of TAGS
trivia. A person could submit 3 trivia questions about anything they noticed
in an episode. These could get very interesting, and would really weed out
the profans, from the occasional watcher. Just a thought.............
Just to get things started:
1. What year & month did Barney join the sherriff's dept?
2. What is Barney's shoe size?
3. What is Barney's reference mean to 42-J ?
Have Fun.......................Mike B. in Wichita............(STANDBY

Subject: long-winded about Uncle Ollie
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Having just returned from the Lake Charles area, I
felt compelled to write about Uncle Ollie and Aunt
Nora.
Family Visit - I really love this episode! My family
and I have milked so much mileage from the great lines
in this story, that I feel like we ought to owe
royalties to the talented and creative writers and
actors! :)
Travel and Mayberry are two things that go together
well. On the show, whenever a major character takes a
trip, or even talks of travel, it is remarkably well
done - it evokes such vivid images of a time when you
could hop in the car and get on a simple two-lane road
or highway (e.g. "Andy and Barney in the Big City," as
well as any of the stories in which areas surrounding
Mayberry are mentioned, etc.). Some of the references
to travel tend to suspend reality, although that
doesn't have to be a down side. For instance, in this
"Family Visit," Lake Charles is referred to as being
the hometown of Uncle Ollie and his family. I'm not
sure which Lake Charles it is, but in the segment that
gets cut quite often, in which Ollie is telling Andy
about the great mileage he gets (soon after arriving),
he mentions Shreveport, Louisiana, I think. Now, I
don't know about you, but to drive through Shreveport
to get to Mayberry seems a little out of 'yer' way.
Also, Andy mentions, when on the porch at the
beginning of the show, that he would have to 'jump on
a Pullman and go *up* to see' Ollie some time. Lake
Charles is at least a good 700 miles southwest of
Mayberry, with Shreveport being an additional 200
miles or so out of the way...but nonetheless, it is
the theater of the mind...in the world of Mayberry,
these things don't necessarily have to be true to the
atlas, so to speak, although it is interesting to
think about the real cities and the people who might
have lived in them, as portrayed on the Griffith Show.
As I went through Lake Charles over the weekend, I
wondered whatever happened to that maroon (a new make
for me, paw) two-door.
So, long-winded as I am...*smile*..I thoroughly enjoy
this story, including the bakery truck! :)
-Louis

"you'll see a shift of light
concentration from one area of the camera's view or frame to another for the
purpose of highlighting a character's face, action, etc"
On several of the escaped convicts episodes I've seen this a lot and I dont
think its from any spot lights as much as it is from
reflectors that they used to direct sunlight where it was needed on outdoor
scenes. If you look on almost any episode
filmed around Myers Lake you will notice the bright spots moving around as the
scenes are being filmed.
One that really catches your eye is where Andy is climbing the tree to look
around but there are many more times it happens.
The first time I noticed it I thought it was just bad footage or something and
then I really figured out what was going on.
