My all time favorite Barney facial expression happened just after he was
guided through the Preamble of the Constitution. His hair was a mess and he
had that look like, "See, I told you I had the whole thing memorized."

I love that one! :)

I love that scene, the theatrics behind it still leave me rolling in the
floor. I figure the writers probably came up with a lot of moments like that
just to get some mileage out of Don's facial expressions.

>>>A young lady from Canada skated to the lovely anthem that the ladies of
the All Souls church choir sang at the beginning of the "Church Benefactors"
episode. I don't know the title, but perhaps someone can remind me.

I didn't watch that event, but the TUNE the ladies' choir sings is Franz
Liszt's "Liebestraum," which is German for "Dream of Love." The words used
on TAGS were written later, for a church setting. Many church hymns are
based on classical melodies.

Andy also used the "Liebestraum" melody on one of his old comedy records.
The tune was played on a squeaky saxophone while he recited a silly love
poem.

>>>My brother in-law was asking me which episode Barney comes out of the
courthouse apparently just having an argument with Andy (we are not sure)
and yells out "those are your true schizophreniacs"

That scene is in "Aunt Bee's Invisible Beau," the one where she pretends to
date the butter and egg man in an attempt to get Andy to spend more "private
time" with Helen.

>>>I have also wondered why the game warden didn't know the elected
officials in the area and let them off
with a warning.

Not only that, but Andy should have known HIM too, especially since he was
such an avid outdoorsman. Perhaps the warden had just transferred in from
some other part of the state, and hadn't yet gotten to know everyone. This
could also explain why he was so "by the book" -- he may have been trying to
impress his supervisor.

Yes, that was John "The Jinx" Qualen playing dirt farmer Muley Graves in
The Grapes of Wrath. He also had a sizable part in another classic,
"Casablanca." He's the man who tried to sell Victor Lazlo the ring while
at Rick's Cafe American. Check out his career at the Internet movie
database: http://us.imdb.com/Name?Qualen,+John

BTW I highly suggest the book, The Grapes of Wrath to any fans of the
movie. The film ends on a rather upbeat note, but the book ends in a
tragic but very touching scene. The final paragraph moved me like no
other words I've ever read. I just glowed after I finished reading it.
It's my favorite book and movie of all time.

Hi all! It's been awhile since I posted, but wanted to share with you
something that happened in my classroom the other day. I teach 4th grade in
Gastonia, NC and am in the process of getting my National Certification. For
one of my entries I've decided to do a lesson on Conflict Resolution so to
motivate the students I showed the video of "Opie and the Bully." they moaned
and groaned to begin with..."this is an old show," "why is there no
color...." Once the show started, my children were entranced; there was not a
sound in the room for the entire program! (THIS IS HIGHLY UNUSUAL!) After the
video ended they wanted wanted to watch more. I now allow the children who
have stayed on task all week to go back to the classroom for lunch on Fridays
and watch an Andy videos! Will wonders never cease!

Y'all have a Mayberry kind of day! Sabrina
