Ok, maybe this isn't the place for this, but I've got to get it off my chest!
Phil Sunkel. Phil Sunkel. Phil Sunkel! Ever since I read that name last
week, it has been stuck in my brain. At first, I expected someone to come back
with "Mary Zant" or something, but nobody did. So, I am left to believe that
Phil Sunkel is a real person and was really mad about having his name used in a
TAGS episode--to the tune of $5,000? Wow. I'd have given $5,000 for them to
use my name in TAGS. Ok, now it's time to move on to something else to stick
in my brain (nobody suggest an ice pick, please!).

You know, Garry (Dallman), I think you've got something there. Harriet, come
over and listen to this:
I, too, have noted that the writers of the show felt the need to have a
Barney type character for Andy to play off of. At times this was Bernard Fox
(Malcolm Meriwether), Jack Burns, and Goober. And when they had Andy play the
role, the writing wasn't quite as good as the versions Don Knotts was in.
Witness the Aunt Bee trip to Mexico episode in which Andy is forced to assume
much of the Barney role.

Hey Everybody,
I can remember 5 times Aunt Bee has been in jail. She was in jail with
Opie when Andy left town and Big Barn arrested the whole town. She was in
jail when her and the ladies club got drunk drinking too much elixar and
Andy arrested them and sobered them with coffee. She and ladies club got
arrested again by Warren for gambing. Also, she was in jail when the
whole town put themselves in jail so Barney would not quit the sheriffs
office. Aunt Bee and Opie and Andy hid there from Gomer for lunch when
Andy put out some little oil smoke at the filling station when Gomer was
asleep and Gomer irritated them to death because he felt Andy saved his
life. Come to think of it, Opie was in there also accompanied by an adult
of course. Well, I guess that is the wrap on Aunt Bee and also this
message.
But Andy, I had them all dead to rights!

My husband recently tried to locate an Andy Griffith biography to give me as
a birhtday gift. He was told that there was one titled Honesty and
Intergrity but that it was out of publication and very difficult to find.
The bookstore also told him that there were not many copies made. Is this
true information? If so does anyone know the reason?
He bought me the Don Knotts book Barney Fife and Other Characters I Have
Known and I must say I am finding the book very enjoyable and recommend it
to all you TAGS fans.
Thanks for you help!

Hey Fellow TAGS Watchers,
I was just wondering about Barney leaving the show and trying to replace
him, which of course was impossible- Warren was a disaster-
I thought of Jerry Van Dyke and has anyone heard about why they didn't use
him- he was great in the Carnival episode-" he sure is a good waiter" you
know Robie Miller's little boy. Lots of Luck To You and Yours

>>> [In "Arrest of the Fun Girls"] ... there was a hot dog stand and
"Palmerton Cafe" in the background, but there were very noticeable trolley
car tracks running right up the middle of the street! Two questions....1)
was that the only episode that used that particular Desilu backlot street
scene?....and 2) was there ever any other indication of mass transit within
the town of Mayberry?
1. Palmerton Cafe is seen prominently in "Banjo-Playing Deputy," when
Jerry tries to help the kids across the street.
2. Those were probably camera dolly tracks, not streetcar tracks. There
are a couple of other scenes in which tracks can be seen, such as when Andy
shoots out the crooks' car's tire in "Aunt Bee Takes a Job."

Subject: The rules

Thanks, Allan, for posting the rules again. Even though we all
love TAGS, I think we all have at least one character, scene, or episode
that we just don't care for, but we should not dwell on that. There is
so much to love in TAGS that we should not waste time dwelling on our
dislikes. All it takes is one negative comment to start the negativity
going. Negativity breeds more negativity. That's why negativity must
not be allowed to creep in. Besides, there is so much negativity in the
world already. If someone wants negativity, let him look anywhere but in
Mayberry. Mary Grace Gossage"Ooooh, you should have seen it, Andy. It
was a beautiful thing to watch."

I received several emails today asking if we could recognize other TAGSRW
clubs at the Musi'kal should they get a group together to attend. Of course
we would love to recognize other clubs! Just let one of the folks know at the
door or email me and we will make sure you are recognized in attendance. We
would love to have the support of all area clubs.
Thanks
Danny

I learned this as a young child
"Politeness is to do & say, the kindest things, in the kindest way" I'm
so glad that you keep our digest a place where positive comments are the
rule, & that it is a place where even young readers can safely go to
read what is written.
With so much trash tv available at times when young veiwers might watch,
it is wonderful to have the Andy Griffith show available as an
alternative & this format to comment on the show.
