Didn't anybody notice that one of the counterfeiters Aunt Bee was
workin' for was the Army psychologist that Andy put through the wringer in
No Time for Sergeants (Maj. Royal B. Demming)?

How about Gilley getting punched by Goober! (Punch in the nose). How
about Bobby Gribble dipping Emma Larch's pigtales in the ink well! How
about the conversation in the Barber shop when Barney is telling Andy how
he doesn't listen to all the gossip....just reads his Geographic
magazine.....about Africa!
The writers were experts at creating these Unseen Scenes. And today...we
still wonder what might have happened.....over 30 years later! Now that's
good writing!
Ya'll take care......keep a good thought!

That infamous punch in the nose, and the subsequent punches...we *never* saw
those!
Others would include Otis' unfortunate incident with a leg of lamb; one or
two of Barney's fights with Thelma Lou ("She as much as said I was cheap!")
and once when she belted him; and that famous wreck involving the fire truck
and the garbage truck.

I have mentioned previously that there is actually one episode of SFT with
Don Knotts that is available through Shokus Video. Check it out on their
site!

Sorry, my last email galloped away from me...
Interesting list...My personal choice was Jerry Van Dyke, but I never would
have thought of Wally Cox, that would have been hilarious! Too bad Tim
Conway was tied up in WW2 at the time though, and Jerry was talking to his
mother, the car (the reason he turned down the deputy role in the first
place...arrrgggghhhhh!). Here's one that might raise an eyebrow or
two...Paul Lynde???!!!!

This is really a super fun site. I check it out first thing every morning.
It is really nice to know there are other TAGS fans out there just like me. I
will have to check out the dessert book from Aunt Bee. Sounds like a winner
to me.
I stopped watching Andy on my local cable station here as it got up to episode
#159 and started showing later shows in color and these are not nearly as much
fun! Wish I knew a station here where I could see the BW ones.

my fav has got to be the scene where Opie and Andy come in on Barney and
Thelma Lou making out. You don't really see anything, as I recall, except
the lipstick on Barney's face. Opie starts screaming that Barney is
bleeding and Andy his killing himself trying to get Opie outta there. I may
not have all the facts right but the jist is there. I'm not a pro like most
of you guys.

Subject: Why still WGN?
Date: Fri, 8 Mar 2002 08:24:05 -0600
Hey everybody:
I have a "legalistic" television question. Though my heart will always be
in Mayberry, I have a tendancy to venture away from it sometimes.
Occassionally I will go to Ohio to see Alex Keaton and his family...and
sometimes I go to New York to see the Huxtibles.
However, here is my delimma. When TVLAND announced it was going to pick up
TAGS, they had purchased the cable rights to it. That meant that no other
national cable channel could air TAGS except TVLAND. (Local stations could,
but not national cable stations.) My question is: Does TVLAND do this for
all shows that it airs. I noticed when they Nick-At-Nite picked up Family
Ties, TBS quit showing it and I assumed it was for the same reason.
However, just this week, Nick-At-Nite has been showing The Cosby Show, but
yet, WGN is also showing it.
I'm a bit confused! Anyone have a viable solution?

What other Unseen scene's can you think of?
I like the one where Barney and Thelma Lou are in the court house "making
out" and when Andy and Opie come in and turn on the lights, Barney's hair is
mussed and he has lipstick all over his face! Paw, Barnie's face is
bleedin'!

How about when Barney storms off to the barber shop after finding out Andy
resolved the conflict where everyone kept socking each other in the nose,
without filing any paper work, and comes back holding his nose with his head
tilted back. And then of course every scene that ever featured Juanita or
Sarah, both of whom we never saw.

On the recently released triple DVD 'M*A*S*H Season One Collector's
Edition',there are a few Mayberry connections. Firstly, a little more than a
year after 'Mayberry R.F.D. ended, we have Arlene Golonka appearing in the
episode 'Edwina.' Latter day TAGS director Lee Philips directs 'Yankee Doodle
Doctor.' A personal favorite of mine is 'Sometimes You Hear the Bullet'
guest starring an eighteen year old Ron Howard. Later in M*A*S*H's history,
there are appearances by Hope Summers and George Lindsey. Alan Rafkin, who
relished directing TAGS, directs about three M*A*S*H episodes. Of course, all
TAGS fans know of the pre-M*A*S*H appearances of Jamie Farr and William
Christopher ( as a doctor no less) on TAGS.

Late last evening after a full day of work, I took my wife to the local
watering-hole for a cold beverage. An elderly gentleman(73), who had
obviously been into too many cold beverages(Otis style) all day and the
barmaid were the only other two people in the bar. With about a minute to
go before the 10PM EST running of TAGS, a color promo for the episode blips
on the screen. Knowingly and jokingly, I said out loud " I wonder if this
is a new show or a rerun?"
The elderly gentleman looked at me and then I could see the wheels turning
in his head and the light came on! He said, in Otis-like fashion and as
serious as a heart-attack, "Well shoot, they haven't made a new one of them
shows in years!" It was very funny at the time and my wife and I both about
fell off of our stools laughing.
Just a bit of small-town humor, but nonetheless funny to us TAGS watchers.
Have a good one!

If anyone knows the correct phone number for Columbia House's customer
service (specifically, the billing department), could you please email it to
me? The number given at the end of the tapes is 1-800-457-0866, but that
number does not work. I tried it all day, and got nothing but busy signals.
Thanks,
Paul

Excellent topic. I'd love to see how Andy reacts to
Opie after he met Mr. McBeevee in the woods, and
realizes he is real, and Opie told the truth. The
epilogue on that episode just showed Barney talking
with Andy & McBeevee on the phone.
Another one would be how Malcolm Tucker would have
changed when he went back to Charlotte, after his
relaxing stay in Mayberry. Just say he got all caught
up in business, and he's sitting at a boardroom
meeting with all of his staff arguing, and his mind
drifts back to sitting on the Taylor's porch. That
would be priceless. They could have done several
episodes with him as Mr. Tucker. (I think he did play
in a colorized ep, where he was a furniture polish
company owner).
Bill Bixby could have revived his role several times
as the spoiled, rich brat that had a change of heart
after visiting Mayberry. The possibilities are
limitless.
