In the pilot episode, Andy is trying to explain about losing a loved one
to Opie whose turtle has just been killed. Andy makes reference to
Opie's mother's death which happened when Opie was a little baby. If
Opie's mother died when Opie was a little baby, then Andy may very well
have been dating again by the time Opie was 2 or 3. I didn't get the
impression that Opie remembered her, but it is possible that he did
remember her even at a very young age. I have heard that early memories
are often traumatic ones and since it is very traumatic for a baby to
lose his mother, it makes sense that Opie might have remembered that even
though he was very young. That is one way of making it all fit
together.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Mary

If you remember, when Barney was trying to convince Andy to stay on as
Sherriff and they were trying to make it look like Floyd had been assaulted,
Barney pulled the towels out of the cabinet on that side. Floyd then had a
coniption about how much it cost to launder those towels.

Hey Everybody,

SHAZAM! Opie won the best director and his movie the best picture. Pretty
good for a boy from Mayberry whose dad was THE SHERIFF WITHOUT A GUN.

Three Cheers for Opie from The Chicken Thieves and Whatnots Chapter of
