TV always makes things look bigger than real life so I've been wondering how
tall folks in Mayberry were.
Barney and Floyd were small in stature. Andy and Goober would be about the
same size, but Howard even stands above Andy. How tall was Jack Dodson,
anyway?

Keith played one of Opie's pals, Johnny Paul Jason. He is probably better
remembered as Little Ricky on the Lucy Show.

TAGS fans,
Was watching "Enterprise" last night (the latest Star Trek series) and
was pleased to see our own Leon, Clint Howard, guest starring as a Ferengi.
I know Clint was also on the original series with Kirk. Does one of you
trained noticers know if he has also been on the other Trek series? I seem
to remember him showing up on Next Generation but I'm not sure.
Big week in the Howard family, huh?

Charles Thompson played in the following episodes.
76 The Bank Job as Asa
102 A Black Day for Mayberry as Asa
116 The Shoplifters as Asa Breeney
129 The Physical as Asa Bascombe
150 TV or not TV as Asa Breeney
214 Good Bye Dolly as Dr. Roberts
233 Suppose Andy Gets Sick as Dr. Roberts
>>>At the pigeon forge show I see that Keith Thibodeaux will be there. who
did Keith Thibodeaux play?
Johnny Paul Jason--good friend of Opie's. Also played Little Ricky on Lucy
>>WHY DID ANDY AND BARNEY MOSTLY USE THE PASSENGER DOOR TO EXIT THE PATROL

?
In the era of "One Camera" this made for simpler filming I believe. Either
that or he was afraid of the bicycles whizzing by on the Mayberry streets.

something that's already been mentioned. Paul Harvey had a story <<<
So if we answer again, how do we know you'll read it this time?? (just
kidding) Actually friends, you should try the archives feature that Allan
has set up. It really works nice. It saves going back and scanning lots of
issues when you want to look something up. You just put in a keyword and it
searches all the back issues. A real electronal marvel, if you ask me.

To repeat this answer though, the consensus seemed to be the Gold Truck
Episode, when one of the actors playing a guard was stricken, and Rance
Howard had to end up filling in.

Keith played Opie's friend Johnny Paul Jason. He is a friend of mine, and
only lives a few miles from me. He and his wife Kathy have a wonderful
Christian ballet company called Ballet Magnificat in Jackson, MS. They are
really great folks! Keith is an incredible drummer, and you folks that are
going to see him in Pigeon Forge are in for a treat if he plays!

I knew I shouldn't have trod so close to rule #2 with my mention of the
bear scene. Just for the record, I like the episode too. Allan was
correct in steering us away from these discussions so that's all I want
to say about Old Man Kelsey's Bruin.

Hey Everybody, Happy Easter
Had a good Mayberry moment this morning while getting ready for work. My
12 yr old Alison has only a half day of school today and their 6th grade
Easter party at school as well. She came out of her room all set to go
and wearing some silly looking pink rabbit ears in honor of the
celebration to come.
Of course I had to modify my daily instruction to her on the way out the
door.
It was time to "Do a good day's work and act like Some Bunny!"

Hey to all,
This is the TN Gomer, I haven't written in an while but wanted to put my
2 cents in.... I love all the shows, but at the risk of breaking the
rules: I still can't believe they let Thelma Lou get married! That still
aggravates me. Wrecking crew.....
Also, on a sad note, had a little fender bender the other day, nothing
hurt except my license plate cover that said "I'd rather be watching the
Andy Griffith Show" What a bummer. Can you still buy those? I've had
it so long I've forgotten where I got it.
Finally, My family is about to go through big changes --- I just got
orders to report to Chaplain's school for the navy! For you nonmilitary
types, the navy provides chaplains for navy , coast guard and marine
units. Maybe Gomer will come and tell me about Sgt. Carter being a
clepterminiack! Hey, I can dream. Please remember us in your prayers.
Take care,
Dave Mowbray (TN Gomer)

<< In response to Joe Gritton's message, Andy Taylor did say that he was old
enough to be Charlene's father in the TAGS episode, 'Divorce, Mountain
Style.' Andy Griffith, in reality, is sixteen years older than Maggie
Peterson. >>
I know a lot of 16 year old fathers, but not from Mayberry. Maybe NC was
clumped in with other states that jokes are made about folks getting married &
having kids real young - and I mean REAL young. Patty Loveless' CD -
Mountain Soul - has a song called "Pretty Little Miss" - one of the lines in
this song says that this guy she loves will marry her "when I turn 12 this
summer" but he didn't. He ran off with her older sister. As Aunt Bee said
while listening to her favorite soap opera, "Men, men, men". Actually, I
think Andy was old enough to be Charlene's father because she probably was
supposed to be 16 or 17 on the show and Andy was probably supposed to be
about 35.

As much as I love Andy Griffeth, The Andy Griffeth Show,
and Barbara Eden, they really butchered southern accents
on several occaisions. The one that stands out the most
is where Barbara Eden comes to town and sets up shop in
Floyds Barber Shop. Talkin about not even coming close
to sounding from the south. Even with our twangy
tongues, we southerners can speek intelligently. Last
but not least and so that I dont get any hate mail for
what I've just said, I just want everyone to know that
reading the comments and being a part of the TAGSRWC is
my favorite past-time. There are so many neat things
about the show that I never caught as many times as I've
watched the episodes. I have all the black & white
episodes on tape and lots of books on the show. During
the Super Bowls, TBS use to play TAGS all day and all
night and now I'm trying to collect them on DVD.
Congratulations to Ron Howard for his Oscar and for
Directing such a powerful & dynamic movie ("A Beautiful
Mind"). One more thing and I'll sign off-My Ex-eife
ordered an Autographed picture of Barney Fife with a
sheriffs patch and a description of the character and
show plus on the backside it has a picture of Don Knotts
as he is signing the Barney Fife picture.

Hey Everybody,
I thought that the bear in the tree was hilarious slapstick comedy.
Slapstick comedy is my favorite. I thought Andy and Barney running to the
car was funny and trying to get on top of it was so funny. Andy saying to
the mayor " you beat everything you know that" was great. Mayor Stoner
thinking he was a know it all, was looked to be nosey and end the end
looking foolish was a great story line. Pride comes before a fall.
Fife get up from there!

You're right, Charlie. But he was just a friend who had an accident (not
sure what kind - kicked by a mule maybe?) - he also had to wear that
contraption. Afterwards, he was taller so Andy figured it would work on
Barney too. Does anyone know Asa's real name?

Well, there's been a lot going on recently in our little corner of Mayberry!
The first thing I want
to say is congrats to Ron Howard on winning an Oscar for A Beautiful Mind.
Also, I like the
Caribbean episode, because Howard sets off to find paradise and adventure and
then decides that home
is the best place to be! I think Howard had a little bit of the adventurer in
him and I think he
was brave to go off to the islands. But then, I think it was great that he
decided to come back
home, too.
And I have heard Nickel Creek's Flow Gently Sweet Afton and I love it! But
then, I can't think of
anything they've done that I don't like! :)
Have a Mayberry day...

I read at the Internet Movie Database, about
a series in 1971 called ," The NEW Andy Griffith Show".
About Andy, still called "Andy", as a small-town MAYOR.
The first episode included Goober and Emmett and Don Knotts.
The series only lasted 4 Months! Does anyone know more
about this or where we can get episodes of this !
Jr Nope
