I am 100% with Allan on this one. The internet is full of places where
a body can go to complain about things they don't like, so let's keep the
digest full of positive stuff.
     Great job, Allan.

" folks here need to treat each other with respect and try to make sure
we don't say or do something to cause somebody else pain or sadness."
Amen to that Allan! I was a victim of that negative attitude, a while
back. It upset me so, that I pondered Leaving the Digest, for good! But I
knew that would be lettin the other guy win. You know if you dance with
the Devil, He will end up leading!!!

Thank you Allan, for our TAGS Klub!

Rafe Hollister singing "That Lonesome Road", in 'the
musical' episode, gets me every time... I have my tv
hooked up to my stereo and turn it up loud. My wife
isn't as fond of it as I. Also, Barney singing
Achapella!

like the best and which ones u dont, keep putting in the gas, i prefer the
black and white shows also, and i still dont count the the one where thelma
lou comes back married as a show i hate it, sorry but i do.

My local station that runs TAGS yesterday ran
the episode that Howard's mother gets married,
and Howard is a swinging bachelor, and decides
to throw a bachelor bash. When he is trying to
find a date, he calls a girl and she doesn't
remember him, he goes on to describe himself
as "dark hair, 6 foot three".

So Howard Sprague is 6 ft 3.

Subject: The Doug Dillard Band

I recently heard that the Doug Dillard Band might be putting out a new
album (cd) soon and wondered if somebody on the digest knows anything
about that. I can't remember the name of the mandolin player who's been
in their band the past few years at Mayberry Days but I sure hope he'll
be on the new album, too, if there is one. I'd appreciate any
information I could get on that. They always put on a wonderful show at
Mayberry Days.

>>>I thought that the bear in the tree was hilarious slapstick comedy.
Slapstick comedy is my favorite. I thought Andy and Barney running to
the car was funny and trying to get on top of it was so funny.<<

I also found it funny if not poetic justice. Did I miss a part about
the bear escaping from a circus or zoo? I ask because the bear in that
scene looks like a Sun Bear (from the patch on the chest) and they are
only found in Southeast Asia.

Personally, I wouldn't stop to check the bear's pedigree, I'd head for
the top of the nearest police vehicle.

Take a look at the picture at

Did anyone see Goober on MASH? He was acting more
like Otis, though. His name was Ron or Roy.

I always enjoyed Hope Summers who played Clara Edwards on The Andy Griffith
Show. She and Francis Bavier sure did work well together. It is sad to know
they have passed. I never knew Hope Summers has been gone for so long. She
died in 1979, 10 years before Frances Bavier. They were great as was the rest
of the cast.

Subject: re:Richard Keith's "whole" name

Richard Keith just left off his last name (cajun) in hollywood because of ease

of pronunciation, etc. His daddy had him out playing drums professionally by

age 3!!!!! When He auditioned to play little Ricky, they fibbed about his age.

His daddy said he was a year older than he was;or was it a year younger?
Anyway, a few years ago I read Richard Keith's autobiography called "Life After
Lucy" an
 excellent
book!(Do not know if it is still in print.) His wife, a dedicated ballerina
and Christian, started a ballet company
called,"Ballet Magnificat", who by the way, was in Branson this week doing
 the
Dino Kartsonakis Easter Pageant at the Lawrence Welk Theatre.

Speaking of little Ricky, I caught a part of an I love Lucy episode where
Little Ricky played the drums to some jazz at the end. In this episode I also
saw Floyd talkin' to Big Ricky, could anyone tell me which episode this was,
and if Floyd made any other appearances in any other shows of this era.

Hi everyone!

I was watching an old movie last night, "Niagra" starring Marilyn Monroe and
wouldn't you know I spotted old Ben Weaver (the original one) and also the
guy that was a main character in the movie was the antique dealer that Andy
unloaded the cannon on. I didn't notice his name. It's amazing how many times
I spot our Mayberry friends when watching some of the old classics.

"Welcome" to our new members and I know you will enjoy the digest very much!

Happy Easter!!

Subject: Knoxville Dogwood Arts Festival Parade April 6!

I thought I would let everyone know that the "Mayberry" chapter in
Knoxville, TN will be participating in Knoxville's Dogwood Arts Festival
Parade on Saturday, April 6 in downtown Knoxville, TN. The parade is
from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This will be our fourth year participating in
the parade. It should be our biggest year yet! Here are the plans.

Our parade entries are our chapter's replica squad car (1964 Ford Custom)
that looks and runs "nice, real nice", a Floyd's Barbershop replica on a
pull-behind trailer, Mayor Pike's car and the Darling's truck. We will
have a bluegrass band portray the Darlings in the back of the truck
("Everybody back on the truck!"). In addition to the Darlings, we have
at least 16 people dress as the following TAGS characters: Andy, Opie,
Barney, Otis, Floyd, Aunt Bee or Clara, Goober, Regis ("Go back to the
hills, Regis!"), Thelma Lou, Leon, Ernest T. Bass, Mayor Pike & wife,
Charlene, Briscoe, Helen and Howard. Two founding members of the
"TennesseeTAGS" chapter from Nashville will also be participating.

The parade will be televised locally from 7:00 to 8:00 pm on channel
WBIR. If you get a chance, come see us and give us an "Atta boy,
Luther!" from the crowd. After the parade we'll meet at the Cracker
Barrel restaurant off Merchant's Drive (exit 108) off I-75 about 8:30 or
8:45 pm. We'd love to meet any other digest folks there. Just ask for
the "Mayberry" party!

Here are directions to the parade:

Take exit 388 (James White Parkway) off I-40. Then take the first exit
(Summit Hill). At the end of the Summit Hill exit turn left. Go over
the bridge and then turn right onto Hall of Fame Drive at the traffic
light. Go to the next traffic light and turn left onto E. Church Avenue.
There are two parking garages on your left to park in. This where the
parade will assemble.

I would get there no later than 6:30 pm to get a good spot. If any
others from the digest want to participate with us, we'd love to have you
too. Just email me at "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" to let me know.

Thanks and Happy Motoring,

Dennis ([EMAIL PROTECTED])
