I have the perfect rules.... tongue in cheek of course. No harm intended...

RULE 1: Allan is in charge, makes all rules and is always right.

RULE 2: If Allan happens to be wrong, see Rule Number 1.

Subject: Floyd on TV

Russ Thomas mentioned Floyd (Howard McNear) on "I Love Lucy"
and asked about his other TV appearances. He had many. One I
saw was an appearance as a barber (typecasting!!) on "Leave
it to Beaver" But, did you ever catch Howard in "The Long,
Long Trailer"? This was a feature length comedy that Lucille
Ball and Desi Arnaz made in 1954. I love the story. Howard
had a bit as trailerite Mr. Hittaway, the husband of
Marjorie Main (Ma Kettle, "The Harvey Girls" "Meet in St.
Louis").

For his full filmography (including TV roles), do a search
on the internet movie database (http://www.imdb.com).

It's hard to believe we lost Milton Berle, Billy Wilder and
Dudley Moore all in the space of 2 days. God bless them and
all, and our beloved TAGS creators.

<<Did I miss a part about the bear escaping from a circus or zoo? I ask
because the bear in that scene looks like a Sun Bear (from the patch on the
chest) and they are only found in Southeast Asia. >>

Obviously they're found in HOLLYWOOD too. That particular bear looked really
angry to me. You couldn't have paid me a dollar and a quarter to get
anywhere near him in that episode. I'm afraid I'd be up that tree with the
mayor and whats-his-name.

Keith Thibodeaux was known by the stage name Richard Kieth. That is why his
real name may seem unfamiliar. The I love Lucy people changed his name to
Richard when he played Little Ricky. I assume he was always credited as
Richard Keith on TAGS. Thanks, Maria

Clarence White was a member of 'The Country Boys' who appeared in the TAGS
first season episodes 'Mayberry on Record' and 'Quiet Sam.' Compare his
appearance on TAGS to a photo of him with LeRoy Mack taken in 1971 that can
be seen on the www.leroymack.com website. Click on 'Some Ol' Pictures' to
find it.
What would Andy and Aunt Bee think of that long hair?!! Aunt Bee would either
reccommend that he see Floyd for a haircut and shave or she might say to
herself like she did in the movie 'Benji', "He looks like he had a good
brushing!"

Allan, what would your alter-ego say about this "hairy" situation?

I agree with Allan, Our digest isn't the place for negativity. This is the
only newsletter I subscribe to.
And the main reason is because I know it will be something that I will want to
read and
bring a positive note to my day. I always know that I will see good things in
it like trivia
and positive observations about TAGS. There is enough negativity and hate in
the world already.
We don't need it here.

Everyone who has joined the digest was aware there were rules to observe when
posting to it.
I think Allan has done a terrific job in keeping the digest a friendly and fun
place to visit and I hope
it stays that way for a long time to come.

One of my favorite Episodes is where Barney gives the
Governors car a citation and Otis spikes the water
crock. Barney was drunk on 2 occaisions that I remember,
( when they busted the still after the barn burned down
and Opie and his club members were accused of starting
the fire, and the Governors car episode). Anyway, both
episodes were hilarious. If I could go back in time,
Mayberry is where I'd go!!!!!!!!

Wait til Thelma Lou hears about it.........she'll be
thrilled!!

Hi all,
"keep putting in the gas"? I believe that kind of gas has water in it and
anyone fueled by it will not be running very long. It sounds like tnprincess
is looking for trouble.
It seems like these problems are going to just die off like everything else,
they're just going to nasty away.
God Bless

I forgot to add this to my last post, but I respectfully disagree that Barney
would
date Juanita, the Mayor's daughter. I just don't think Barney would date the
Mayor's daughter because it would be difficult to be under the Mayor's constant
scrutiny both at work and when he came to take Juanita out. And I know that
there
were (and are) often large age differences between married couples, but I just
don't see it happening. Besides, who would want to have to be chaperoned by the
Mayor or Mrs. Mayor on all of your dates? :) Lisa

PS I love the Howard the Swinger episode that someone just referenced in the
last
digest. It is hilarious! I was talking to my brother about it the other day
and
he didn't remember it. I am going to have to find it on tv soon, or look it up
in
my TAGS tapes and show it to him. Howard is quite the man about town in that
episode. It is definitely one of my favorites, as is Dinner at Eight. That
one is
a classic!

and
when I come back, I'm gonna kill you."

You may remember a few weeks ago I was bemoaning the fact that I had no
access to the colour TAGS shows where I live. Well, thanks to the kind
generosity of a fellow TAGS fan from this digest, I am now seeing them all
for the first time! What a thrill!! I am enjoying and savoring every
episode, and finding it so much fun! (staying up way too late!! ... 'just
one more episode... just one more episode...') What a wonderful group of
people we have here, instant friends because of our common love for TAGS.
It's a real treasure.

It sure sounds like a lot of fun in going to be had by
all in Knoxville on the sixth of April. I sure wish I
could be there and enjoy the festivities... Kinda
sounds like you are having a "Mayberry Founders Day"
celebration with everyone there.

I'll "keep a good thought" and hope to see some of you
at "Mayberry in the Midwest" in July. I'll also pray
for good weather for your parade.

Anita and All, I laughed when I read about you reading Rural Free Delivery
and not knowing that....when I was a child I grew up in a very small
northern New York town (pop. about 1500) named Rodman and I thought it stood
for Rodman Fire Dept but couldn't quite understand why it was in our
address!! Haha...I finally asked my mother and she told me; I said "it isn't
cause Dad's a volunteer fireman?" So you're not alone; my bucket must have
had a hole in it...heehee

Hey I think I may just have earned my trained noticer stripes.
I was watching "High Noon In Mayberry" episode and just caught this continuity
error.
For those who are not sure of the episode I'm talking about it's the one where
Luke Comstock
comes back to town after being shot by Andy in a gas station hold up a few
years back.
Barn thinks Luke is here to gun Andy down.
Anyway during the episode Andy sends Aunt Bee and Opie off to Clara's house
once he finds out
Luke is on his way to Andy's house to visit. Once the house is empty Andy goes
over to the
hutch behind the dining table and reaches up and gets a gun from the top of
the hutch. At that time
there is just a wooden serving tray on top of the hutch. Later when Luke
arrives at the house you see
Andy get up and in the background you can see the top of the hutch again. This
time there is a pitcher
on the left side and a piece of pottery of some kind on the right side of the
serving tray at the top of the hutch.

I dont know how many times I've seen this episode and never noticed this. The
only reason I caught it
this time is that I was trying to figure out what that thing was on top of the
hutch. After zooming in
on the dvd I figured out that it was a small wooden serving tray.

So how bout it. Paul? Allan? Am I an official Trained Noticer yet? lol

Dapper Dan
Do we get to carry guns? You do. Do we get to ride in the patrol car? You do.
Shucks Otis, this is gonna be fun.
