Speaking of opie's shirt, I remember 1 episode where opie had his shift off
- a naked savage aunt bee called
him. Wasn't this unusual for a person to have his shirt off in 60's
television, even if it was a male?

To the response of Jr. Nope, Involving Cary Grant,
It's wasn't Cary Grant that Andy & Opie were talking
'bout "Talking Northern", It was Gregory Peck. Jeff Doege

My life is like a country song right now. 17 year old
son was arrested, I'm out of work, my old car barely
is running, etc.
I've got more time for TAGS though. A laugh a minute,
there is a God afterall!
An amatuer noticer moment: In the 'Giraffe's are
selfish' episode. A pile of clothes on the bookcase in
the courthouse seems to appear then disappear.

There is a quote from Aunt Bee in one of the episodes that Jim Lindsey is in,
that has a reference to cornbread and chicken. I think it may be the episode
where Jim returns to town broke. But anyway Aunt Bee says she is going to
make cornbread and chicken, and the idea is that it is because Jim is in
town. It seems to be one of those scenes that we don't see very much.

I believe there was also a reference to our hometown on "Baby Bob" the
other night but I can't quite remember what it was. Anyone else see
this?

BARNEY: I don't know how they do it for 80 cents.
ANDY: I don't either, I tell you.
BARN: Three Vienna sausages-heavy on the tomato puree, slice of bread, and
butter
on a paper dish.
ANDY: And more than an ample portion of succotash. Don't leave out the
succotash.
BARN: Yeah. You know, when you get a good meal like that with as good a
service
as Olive gives you, you don't mind leaving a generous tip.
ANDY: Did you leave a tip?
BARN: Well, yeah, a quarter.
ANDY: I did, too.
BARN: A quarter?
ANDY: Yeah.
BARN: Well, Andy, didn't' you see me put a quarter down? That was supposed
to
be for the both of us.
ANDY: Huh. I'll be dogged. Oh, what the heck. It's just a quarter.
BARN: Well, no, Andy. That's just throwing money away. Look, I'll run
back over
there and put my hat down on one of the quarters and get it back.
ANDY: Barney, that's not necessary. Poor ol' Olive is a widow with four
children.
She can use it.
BARN: Oh, yeah. I forgot about that, bless her heart. (Pauses to
contemplate the
situation) Let's let her keep it.
ANDY: You're all heart, you know that, Barn.

That was Gregory Peck they were talking about although I will grant you
that they talked about Rock Hudson more than anyone else it seems.

Spurgeon said, "Forbearance should be cultivated till your heart yields a fine
crop of it. Pray for a short memory as to all unkindness."
Be kind to someone today. I was just thinking about all the times Andy
covered for Barneys blunders, just to avoid him being embarrassed or looking
rediculous. The time when Gomer replaced Barney for the solo in the Mayberry
choir and Gomer walked in on Barney secretly trying to sing the part. Gomer
peeps through the cracked door and realizes that he replaced Barney. Remember
the sadiness in Gomers' face. He actually felt sorrow and hurt for Barney.
What a tender moment. You know the rest of the story.....
Just a thought from someone who loves TAGS!

I checked the TVLand schedule, and the program called "Real Estate,"
featuring Jim Nabors' Hawaiian paradise home, will be on Friday, April 19 at
9:00p.m. Central time.
I bet ol' Barn would have loooooved to have the commission on THAT home
purchase! ("Now, you buy the Sims' house, they buy the Williams' place...")

Phantom, I've wondered about Opie's shirt, too! So many eqisodes he is
wearing the plaid yellow/green shirt. You know back in the 60's we didn't
have the kind of wardrobe we have now and like our own fathers, Andy's salary
wasn't one of distinction, (remember in the episode when they were discussing
Opie going to college). Anyway, I've thought maybe that was just "Opie's
favorite shirt", too. We all had our favorite shirt, dress, etc., that we
wore over and over just because. Aunt Bee wears the same blue dress alot,
too.
I wonder if this might be a way of saying material things just aren't that
important to that family of integrity. - Judy Coe

Hey Ted, (And I really am your neighbor here in Hoosierland) I caught that
too. Guess without a microwave, cold leftovers were all the rage. Did you
notice also, a couple extra "suits" when the limo came to pick them up?
That is an awesome episode. Barney is in classic form.

Caught that one too, Anita! I didn't know whether to take it as a Mayberry

mentioned.
County watchers, we can definitely add Italy to the list...A late Color

In the episode with Mr. Vasilyovich and Mr. Clifford trying to resolve
international conflicts, Aunt Bee was worried about feeding the men. She
only offered them a plate of sandwiches for supper and acted like there was
nothing in the house to eat. At 3 a.m. the men got up in the night and
suddenly the fridge was full of fried chicken, meatloaf, and bread pudding.
Just somethin' I noticed!
