Subject: Trading card collector set
Date: Sat, 13 Apr 2002 13:31:43 +0000
Hellooo Dolll,
I have in my possession a Collector Set of TAGS Pacific Trading Cards,
and I was wondering if anybody could give me an estimated value on them
or tell me where I might get an estimate.
They are complete from #1-110 and I bought it as a box set in the early
90's (91-93) with a copyright of 1990 on it. The pictures on the cards
are a combination of scenes from the shows, stills, publicity shots
and probably some behind the scenes stuff. They are in b/w, color and
sepia tones. The backs have summaries of shows, character information or
trivia on them.
They are in mint condition, as they have been packed away and I only took
them out of the box to look at maybe 4-5 times.
If anybody can let me know about them I would truly be greatful.
Thanks,
Fun Girl

Elizabeth Taylor was mentioned in the color episode about the Foster
Furniture Polish. I believe Andy said to Aunt Bee "This has been a good year
for the Taylors...Bea and Elizabeth!"

Hey Dooley and All, Yes that look from Gomer after he knows he replaced
Barney says it all about Mayberry! I just love the bedjacket episode for
that reason; Andy is willing to give up his most prized possession
(Eagle-Eye Annie) for his beloved Aunt Bee. And Opie learns a thing or two
about what can really bring joy to us...kindness and unselfishness for
others. I guess this kind of tender-heartedness in TV today would be
considered weak or "nerdy"; not in my book, I love that aspect of Mayberry
the best! Good Day to All...Wisenheimer from the North

Let us all take a moment of silence and remember the sixteenth anniversary of
the original airing of 'Return to Mayberry.' Does everybody remember where
they were at the time of this Sunday night telecast on April 13, 1986? I
still have the same VHS tape that I personally recorded at the time. This
video is enclosed in the same hard shell brown case that I bought for it in
1986. It's a shame that we missed Gomer singing 'Because' at Barney and
Thelma Lou's wedding. This scene ended up on the cutting room floor. I
remember seeing Gomer's singing scene being filmed when 'Entertainment
Tonight' went behind the scenes for the production of 'Return to Mayberry.'
This movie truly produced a new wave of TAGS fans.
Touch of bursitis.

According to the tv ad and my listings page, the show about his home is
scheduled to be on at 8:00 eastern, not 9:00. The web page I checked on tv
land doesn't even list it.

Hey everyone,
I just want to take this opportunity to apologize to
anyone if my statement about the "King of Queens"
episode offended you. I had someone write me
personally and tell me they didn't appreciate me
saying bad things about New York. If any of you saw
the entire episode of "King of Queens" I was talking
about you will see that my comments went along with
what happened on the show. I have the highest respect
for the city of New York and anyone who has family
there, is from, or currently lives there. I am in
great awe of how New York has pulled together in the
aftermath of such a horrible day as 9/11.
Once again, I am deeply sorry if I offended any of you
on the digest, please accept my heartfelt apology.
Sincerely,
Anita Carpenter

I know we've done this before, but in honor of Alan's
"Quote of the Day", how about everyone's favorite
one-liners. I know everyone has some that are two or
three lines, but I'm asking for ONE liners. Maybe
we'll do two and three's later, but I'm lookin' for
ONE-liners. The type that when you hear it, you know
exactly what's going on.

In reply to the quote "I think we got 'er if she don't jump. That was the
episode where Ben Weaver wanted to evict the Scoby's. If I remember right
Andy took Lester's glasses so he couldn't read the eviction notice. Andy told
Lester that he'd stall ole' Ben by saying that Lester had lost his glasses.
Lester asked Andy if he thought that would work and Andy said, "Lester, I
think we got 'er if she don't jump".
I remember Goober saying I'll eat a cookie to that but I just can't remember
the episode--sorry.

Many of the songs played/sung on TAGS were in "The Golden Book of Songs"
that was used regularly at the Rockford Street Grammar School in Mount
Airy, NC.. I still have my copy of the book. Actually, I never realized
that "Santa Lucia" and "Funiculi, Funicula" were real Italian songs until I
was on a bus in Italy going to a ski resort and everybody started singing
them.
