Hey everybody. Just thought I would tell you of a funny story that happened
yesterday. I was going over spelling words with my son(Will 9 years old)
and ask him to spell "interview", well he spelled it "interveiw" so I told
him the rule- I before E except after C and E before N in chicken. Well
don't you know, he said he always forgets that rule. We had a big laugh
about that afterwards. I thought it was funny enough to share. Well got to
go. Horatio(Kevin)

Subject: Quite an Evening
Folks, I had, not just a Mayberry moment, but an entire Mayberry evening
put together just for me. Even though we've got a whole bunch of trained
noticers, most of you probably didn't notice the recent change in my email
address. A few months ago I took a position at a small college where part
of my duties are to interact with the trustees. They're on campus for one
of their big meetings of the year. The schedule includes a dinner for
them, their spouses, some other administrators, etc. I walked into the
dining room to find it all decked out along the lines of two themes (the
operative one here being Mayberry). One one side was a table that included
the ceramic village (with a couple buildings that I don't have), all kinds
of pictures (including some of me and Thelma Lou and Charlene I had made at
one of the cast gatherings), signs (Snappy Lunch, etc), all kinds of other
stuff too. The sign on the restroom door said, "Goober's Pit Stop." The
menu included things like Aunt Bee's Fried Chicken, Ernest T's Bass,
Snappy's Green Beans, and Barney's Banana Pudding. I came to learn that
one of the faculty members is a real TAGS fan; and, as part of the program,
I she and I were called to the front to participate in the well-known game
show "Who Wants to be a Goober?" hosted by the chair of our Communication
department, who did a great job. We answered trivia questions using cards
from the game. (I won hands-down.) Of course, I had no idea any of this
was going to happen. Afterwards, two students entered who were dressed
like Andy and Opie. I didn't recognize them right away, but they're part
of one of our musical groups. They sang some songs from the show, and then
brought me up front to join them in "Dooley." They didn't actually make me
sing, instead they gave me a jug to play (actually it was an iced tea
picture, but we made do). This was my very first introduction to the
trustees, so I'm not sure exactly what they think! Later today, I have to
present a formal report to them. I don't know how in the world they can
take me seriously now! All this was put together by the president's wife
(she's a nut!). It was a most memorable evening that makes me feel truly
honored.

Does anyone know of a place (online or not) that would sell Mayberry socks?
I have looked all over the internet and cannot find anything!
Thanks,

Ol' Barn had to wear a black suit to ride the white horse to ride east to west
... or was that west to east? North to south? Anyway, that was to show that
Andy wasn't the man for Charlene.
Trivial triviality question: What did Aunt Bee say was Andy's favorite pie?
If you answer, please insert the episode also. I want to see if she named a
different kind of pie in another episode besides the one I watched. :)

Subject: Andy and eggs
Andy is well-known for his extreme shyness and modesty. He would simply
be overwhelmed by the mobbing of fans at Mayberry Days. When I met him
at MGM, Disney World, he was stupefied by we few fans who were allowed
onstage after the presentation; when we shook hands and I gushed my
thanks for the joy he's brought to my life, he didn't even know what to
say, just smiled and nodded, looking humble. Such a lovely Christian man.
As for adding eggs, it used to be thought years ago that eggs were one of
nature's most perfect foods and so were added to anything you could think
of.

Ted;
There were at least 3 other times:
1. After he told "Gentleman Dan", "What good is a gun that's as empty as
this."
2. He shot out the tires of the counterfeiters that were trying to hurry
out of town.
3. He went skeet shooting with the girl from Arkansas.

In the episode that Ms. Crump makes a mistake on
Opie's report card, Barney's hair does amazin' things.

When Andy was in the competition with the out of town lady, he was using a
shotgun. Also another triple I can think of is when Barney was playing Santa
and said "Ho, ho, ho." That may be using a step stool to reach the high note,
but it just came to me.

To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
On this arbor tree, we need to appreciate all the trees that have been
featured on TAGS. In the opening credits Andy and Opie are surrounded by
trees as they stroll to the fishin' hole. Myers Lake was accentuated with
beautiful trees. In "Opie the Birdman", Andy said "But don't the trees sound
nice and full." Mr. McBeevee walked among the treetops. What was the Robert
E. Lee natural bridge? Need I say more?
Franklin Canyon Reservoir had lovely trees in the exterior scenes filmed
there. The Forty Acres lot had an assortment of trees until it was laid bare
in 1977. Let's not forget the group of trees that separated Wally's Filling
Station and the 'Gomer Pyle USMC' huts. Finally, there's the breath taking
view of Pilot Mountain with the trees on its top. Pilot Mountain was
incorporated as a North Carolina state park in 1968, the year that TAGS
transformed into 'Mayberry R.F.D.
But don't the office park sound nice and full?

Wally getting a haircut. Lo and behold, who was cutting his hair? Our
own Floyd. Except his name was Andy. Imagine that! Barney's Girl

Ted, I remember Andy shooting a gun when he took Barney's away from
(Gentleman) Dan & he fired the last shot up in the ceiling, not realizing that
Barney had put his bullet in his revolver. (And then he had to sit down!)

I can remember three times---He shot Barney's gun in "Andy and the Gentleman
Crook". He was trying to prove that the gun was empty, not knowing Barn had
put his bullet in.
The other two times were in "The Perfect Female". Andy took Thelma Lou's
cousin with him when he went out to shoot crows, then later she outshot Andy
at a shooting contest.

Who can forget the episode where Barney is the black rider on a white horse
headed east to west. I liked when Barney says, "If you wear a ruby ring and
ride an old horse the horse will go mad." I think I got that right. I'm not
sure, but it's pretty close. In that same episode I like when Andy is trying
to stall and pretends to have a hurt foot. Charlene says, "You better put a
buckeye in your pocket and do the encant for a sore foot." Every time my foot
hurts and I have to limp I can't help but think about that line.

Ted,
About Andy shooting...He fired Barney's pistol in the
ceiling of the court house the day that Gentlemen Dan
tried to break out of jail in front of Opie, Aunt Bee,
and Barney....
Which reminds me of a couple of one liners...
"You gotta laundry truck waiting for you Uncle Dan?"
and
"On my word as a Gentlemen."
Also Ted, Good luck starting your Chapter in Indy...
I went to our 1st chapter meeting on Wednesday, here
in Greenfield (IN) and we found that there is another
chapter already here in Greenfield.....TAGS FANS
