I really don't think Rafe was saying "*ell". Sometimes, folks in the
South, stretch their words. They'll take a one syllable word and make it
to. I do it myself, without intentions to curse. Just my two cents worth!

In today's Digest there was an occurrence of a "double" that I notice quite
often. Two people, totally unknown to each other post the same exact
thought. This time is was about Barney's Middle name. Sometimes they even
appear back to back! One time Anita and I both mentioned our favorite
Gooberism...and we both even called it that word, without any previous
reference!. When we were do favorite one-liners, sometimes the same line
appeared from two different writers. I wonder what causes that???
Since triples have about run their course, (did anyone mention "Surprise
surprise, surprise!"...or did that not come until the spin-off?) I'd like to
start recalling doubles..things repeated just once such as.
"Sheriff Sheriff, Its time Its time" (Quiet Sam) or
"Such goings-on, Such goings on"
There will probably be a dozen response on this one, but Barney actually had
3 different middle name references. There used to be a guy at Sarah's that
cleverly used all three as his name, Milton P Oliver. Just one of those
inconsistencies we love to notice.
>>> Hello I first noticed the "dirt roads" in the color eps. in which
Aunt Bee learns to drive. When she & Goober start her lessons , Aunt
Bee is kicking up the dust all over town. Never noticed the "dirt
roads " in the B&W eps as much<<<<

First of all, I wouldn't exactly call the word H*ll a curse word. Second,
if
Rafe did say it, it would be making something nasty in a wholesome show. I
think it would be kind of funny if he actually said it. Third, everyone is
going
to hear something different; "Well", "H*ll", "Hey". So whatever you would
like
Rafe to say, just pretend that's what he's saying.

In the episode in which the Ladies Historical Society presents Otis with the
plaque for being the descendent of a Mayberry war hero, Andy says to Barney
"...I thought your middle name was Oliver". Barney did his "deducing" and
concluded that he (Barney) was the actual descendent of Nathan Tibbs (the war
hero), and when telling Andy about his conclusion he refers to himself as
Bernard "Tibbs" Fife at which point Andy says "...I thought your middle name
was Oliver". Of course, some folks have more than one middle name...Bernard
Milton P. Oliver Tibbs Fife???? hhhhmmmm... I don't know...,

We've had a couple of comments about Desilu sound stages being across from
the 40 Acres lot and their being visible in some shots. Well, wouldn't you
know it, one of those episodes was on TVLand last night. Just before
Malcombe rides up on his bike, Andy and Aunt Bee come out of the house and
stop in the yard before Aunt Bee goes back into the house to get something.
The camera is like it is sitting in the middle of the front yard so you get
a good shot between Andy's house and the one next door. The corner of a
large sound stage is seen over the back fence.

>>>Now I'm not an offee-shul trained noticer, but I thought Rafe said, "Hey

I could be wrong on that, but the thought of foul language in Mayberry is
enough to get that vein poppin' out of Barney's neck.
>>>
I'm quite sure he actually used the stronger word. Jack Prince said it so
quickly, it slipped by the censors.
In the course of Andy Taylor's work as a lawman, he no doubt would have
encountered strong language from some of the men he came into contact with.
Therefore, he wasn't offended at Rafe's remark. Had AUNT BEE been
present -- look out, Rafe!

I have a question. I've always loved Andy Griffith,
Mayberry, R.F.D. & The Waltons and I've been
wondering...Is the house where Sam Jones (Ken BErry)
lived in Mayberry, R.F.D. the same house that was used
on The Waltons? It sure looks familiar!

I got word from Surry Arts Council today that Colonel Tim's Talent Time show
has sold out. There are still tickets left for the performance of "Smoke On
The Mountain" which is at the same time at Col. Tim's, but over at the
Downtown Cinema. This is a musical with all kinds of songs - gospel, old time,
and bluegrass, many of which Andy sung on the show. It is a great compliment
to Mayberry Days and is good family entertainment.
Mayberry Days information is on the SAC website at www.surryarts.org. I've
changed the look a bit, but the same information is still there.

Hello all!
This is my very first posting!
My parents gave me the "Andy" gene apparently at birth! It's so part
of our lives, we don't even notice it anymore. I grew up with a cow
named "Lefty"(she kept bustin' out).
Alas, I have never seen at least 50 of the episodes. We never had
cable, still don't, so what I know has been odds and ends taped off of
t.v. Could someone tell me how to buy them? Please?
God bless.

We may not have missing scenes to gripe about much longer as it appears that
TAGS has been removed from the a-list at TV Land.
I periodically check the TAGS schedule on the TV Land website so I don't
miss any of the episodes I still need on tape. When I checked last night I
noticed that beginning Monday they will be showing only one episode of TAGS
per day (11:00AM and repeat at 10:00PM). This seems to follow a pattern of
other shows - the beginning of the end. TV Land recently killed Hogan's
Heroes, one of my other favorite shows, to make room for new ones and Gomer
Pyle USMC will bite the dust on Sunday. As I learned from deputy Bob
Rogers, you can predict the future according to past patterns.
Oh well, at least I've got my tapes.
If you give em 40 they'll take 45..............

Today I watched a video of TAGS that included the episodes 'The Haunted
House' and 'Three Wishes For Opie.' This VHS tape was manufactured by United
American Video or UAV out of Charlotte, North Carolina. I purchased it when
it was released back in 1992. Oddly enough, the audio track is about one
second ahead of the video track. The video is not well synchronized at all.
The result looks like Mayberry's version of a badly dubbed martial arts or
Godzilla movie.

Actually, Barney had 3 middle names mentioned on show. In "A Plaque for
Mayberry", Andy says Barney's middle name is Oliver. In "Class Reunion",
it is shown in the yearbook as Milton, and later on in the series, Barney
calls himself Bernard P. Fife. What the P stands for is never
addressed. Maybe it is Parneypoo, as in Barney Parneypoo. With a middle
name like that, most people would use the initial only. Mary Grace
