ANDY: See that nickel right there?
BARN: Yeah.
ANDY: Now, I paid ten dollars for that nickel. A month later a feller offered
me fifty dollars for it. Wouldn't surprise me if I was to advertise I'd get,
oh, a couple a hundred dollars.
BARN: For a nickel?
ANDY: Yeah.
BARN: How come?
ANDY: Well, they made a mistake at the mint. Look right here. See that
buffalo right there?
BARN: Yeah.
ANDY: Facin' the wrong way.
BARN: Facin' the wrong way?
ANDY: Yeah.
BARN: Huh, and that makes it valuable?
ANDY: Yeah. I don't expect there's more than two or three in the whole
country.
BARN: No fooling?
ANDY: Um Huh.
BARN: And it keeps increasing in value?
ANDY: Yeah. The fewer there are on the market....
BARN: And you say there only two?
ANDY: Two, or three at the most.
BARN: Ah huh..ah You wouldn't want to sale it, would ya'?
ANDY: Hum, you know somebody that wants to buy it?
BARN: Well, I might buy it.
ANDY: You might buy it?
BARN: Um huh. Couldn't give you know two hundred dollars..but I could give
ya' fifty.
ANDY: Hmmm..
BARN: Seventy-five? Seventy-five's a deal?
ANDY: All right.
BARN: How about that? Thank ya', Andy. Let me just compare this with a
regular nickel...HEY, ANDY! The buffalo on this nickel's facin' the same way!
ANDY: Let me see that rare nickel. Now, which ways the buffalo facin' on your
regular nickel?
BARN: (Pointing to HIS right) Over there.
ANDY: There, you see. The buffalo on this rare nickel's facin' that'a way.
(Pointing to HIS right.) Here, see.
BARN: (Walking around the desk) Yeah, yeah. I'll be darn..HEY, now mines fac
ing the same way..DARN YOU, ANDY!
ANDY: Well, Barney, I's just tryin' to show you how easy it would be for you
to get taken.
BARN: Well, I didn't think I's gonna get taken by my own friend, for heavens
sake.

I know you didn't ask for a complete list, but I figured I'd give it anyway
since others might be interested.
For those of you who are new in town, about 5 or 6 years ago a company
called Hawthorne produced a set of Myaberry buidlings and accessories. They
were all retired in 1998, and many are now very hard to find (in other
words, expensive.) I saved some of the brochures; here's a list of the
items and their original prices:
Buildings ($39.90 each)
Mayberry Courthouse
Floyd's Barber Shop
Wally's Filling Station
The Taylor Home
The Mayberry Hotel
Mayberry Post Office
Bluebird Diner
Mayberry Schoolhouse
Mrs. Mendelbright's Boarding House
Seems like there's one more; hopefully someone reading this will respond and
remind me what it was. Some of the buildings look very much like the ones
on the show. Some (like the Taylor home and Bluebird Diner) are barely
recognizable. The schoolhouse was never seen on The Show at all!
Characters ($21.90 per pair)
Andy and Barney (in uniform)
Aunt Bee and Opie (Opie holding baseball bat; Bee holding pie)
"Have a Great Day" set (Aunt Bee in red dress and white gloves; Opie holding
lunch box)
Other sets ($21.90 - 23.90)
Gomer at the Station (Gomer, tire display, and soda cooler)
Barney's Sidecar (Barney in motorcycle gear with his Harley-Davidson)
Patrol Car ('61 model) and gas pumps
School Bus and Flag
Welcome to Mayberry (Andy standing by a sign)
Loaded goat (Andy, Barney and goat with dynamite crates)
Around Mayberry (mailbox, traffic light, fireplug, bench, two signs)
Village Streetlights (set of 6)
Autumn Trees (4)
Summer Trees (4)
note: the last four were very "generic" looking and were probably intended
to be used with other sets produced by Hawthorne. There was also a nice
piece called "Fishin' with Pa" that depicts Andy and Opie fishing. It is
not in scale with the other pieces.
If anyone has a Hotel or School Bus/Flagpole set for sale, I'm interested in
buying them. I'll pay double the original price.

Hi all,
I will have to agree with the comments about the digest and the content. I
too get tired of the constant bickering and concerns with offending people.
If people could stick to TAGS and not go off the deep end on their own
personal feelings and problems it would be ok. I will be the first to stand
up for whats right and against whats wrong in TV or anywhere else. However I
don't think that this digest is the place to angrily vent personal feelings
about personal feelings or give attitude to someone that asks a question more
than once. I think everyone can relate to accidentally asking a question when
it was already asked. I myself have said or asked something more than once
because I didn't catch it in the last or other posts. Getting grumpy and
being rude has no place in Mayberry! It goes back to the rule, If you don't
have something nice to say, don't bother saying anything.
As for the "domestic violence" arguements, I believe that some people are just
looking for an arguement and they'll stir one wherever they can. It has
nothing to do with TAGS. Yeah, Otis might have hit his mother-in-law with a
leg of lamb or Opie gets a black eye, it's TAGS, it has a storyline of those
people and those characters and its a wholesome place, practically the only
one left, quit beating it to death trying to find todays problems in it. For
some of you who need something to complain about, "in a friendly kinda hoping
you'll understand kind of way", go somewhere where that is wanted, and it's
not here, after all if it isn't nipped in the bud, ducking the leg of lamb
might come in handy for some.
God Bless
Michael

In the last few weeks people were writing in about words repeated 3 times.
Well I have one said 4 times. In the lady shoplifter episode Barney is
standing looking for the shoplifter when Andy approaches looking for him.
When Barney tell Andy he has his "eye on their bird now" he tells Andy to
GO,GO,GO,GO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Mayberry friends:
In case anyone else gets this channel KTLA (I think it may be San Francisco
but I am not sure), they are having an Andy Griffith marathon tomorrow (Sunday
May 12th). Starting at 3 pm EDT and going until 8 p.m. EDT. It looks as
though they shows are focusing on different events in the character of Aunt
Bee. My phone is already off the hook and the popcorn is ready to pop!!
Good Sabbath,
Miz Sallie
