Many thanks to the gentleman who sent in the
references to Mothers on TAGS- They were delightful! I
must share with you a gift I received yesterday from
my 19 year old son. He did a power point on his
computer showing photos of family, friends and pets
all set to different sound files from TAGS. It was
heartwarming and hilarious at the same time. Barney is
not the only fine son out there! When my photo came up
on the screen you could hear Big Maude say"you're a treasure!"

In a previous WBMUTBB issue Paul Mulik mentioned all of the pieces that have
been released that make up the Mayberry Village released by Hawthorne. I
have been one of the lucky ones to have collected all of the pieces when
they came out. I have really enjoyed looking at it over time. However, I
am missing the tree sets. The trees were a generic set that contained four
trees. There were 2 sets...one for summer and one for winter. If anyone
has any extra sets of these I am interested in puchasing them so that I can
have the entire display.

Thanks,
Tim Hinesley

When Barney says "Sure Mike sure" its just a figure of speech, I believe.
Kind of like saying "That's a fact, Jack" or that sort of thing. That scene
is hilarious!

Last year my husband & I were at mayberry days. We heard some one talking at
one of the meetings about a drag race at an airport in alabama. Is that a
yearly event ? If so when and where is it ? Thanks , Debbie

Here's the answer to the definition of a "Barney bullet" I'm
paraphrasing from the newspaper article:

In my favorite shooting sport, competitors usually want as many rounds
as possible when they begin. When the top round has been chambered, the
magazine is one short of being full. If you want a maximally loaded
gun, you then remove the magazine and insert one more cartridge into it,
then return it to the handgun. So competitors carry a spare round with
which to top off the magazine. This is called the "Barney bullet" in
honor of Barney Fife, who, owing to questionable gunhandling abilities,
was allowed to carry only one cartridge - to place in his revolver in
case of trouble. The other day as a fellow competitor was preparing for
his turn, he loaded the gun, removed the magazine and said: 'Hang on a
minute. I have to Barney up here.'"

<< And personally, unless you are 60 years old or

you have seen everything on TV to make a fair comparison.
Having TAGS in my life has been such a pleasure, but so has Seinfeld.

facets of the media, please state your displeasure on another board.>>

Gee Whiz Bob - I know your message was meant for me but refuse to go
punishing myself inside because I bad rapped today's TV shows. Anyway, I
AM over 60 but haven't seen everything on TV so I guess I can't vote neither.

That would be the All Soul's Church. I know because I have them all proudly
displayed right cheer in the living room (I say that all choked up with
humbleness and humility). It looks kinda like what I think the church looked
like but I haven't pulled out a tape to compare it.

Hey everybody,

I just wanted first to say; Thanks Allan, for all you
do to make the digest possible. You bring a lot of
joy into my life, and I.... thank ya...thank
ya....thank ya!

I am so glad we are all getting back to why we love
TAGS instead of anything negative. The world is so
full of bad things it is so nice to bring up the
digest and laugh, and feel such a deep contentment
about a place where we would all love to live. I
would love to just escape to the front porch with
Andy, Aunt Bee and Opie and listen to Andy play the
guitar. Wow if I close my eyes seems like I'm almost
there.

I wrote last week about seeing a man on a motorcycle
wearing a black leather jacket and a white helmet,
with a sidecar on his "sickel". Has anyone else seen
anything like that lately???

I was watching the episode last night where the
governor came to shake Barney's hand. Great laughs
with Otis, and of course when Barney get's a little
"tipsy" it is as Daphne would say.... "a scream."

.......put that in your smipe and poke it..........

In addition to providing background vocals to a myriad of recording artists,
The Jordanaires also sang for Andy Griffith and George Lindsey. These famous
back-up vocalists, most notably known for their association with Elvis,
recorded with George for 'Goober Sings' in 1968 and Andy Griffith in 1972 for
'Somebody Bigger Than You and I.' Interestingly, in between Goober and Andy,
the Jordanaires worked with Ringo Starr in 1970. Goober misnames 'The
Beatles' in the TAGS episode 'Opie's Group.' If you were to look at my vinyl
LP collection, you would see Mayberry related albums (i.e. TAGS, Andy
Griffith, Jim Nabors, George Lindsey) sandwiched right beside the Beatles.
Now that is truly BIGGER than the Beatles.
