A few years ago the Ft. Worth Star Telegram sent a reporter out here and

Hey Paul, that's GREAT that they did a story on you and your school. How
about posting that story the paper did right here on the digest? I'm sure
there are lots of folks that would love reading it. If you can't do that,
please send me a copy of it to read.

There's been some comments about the rain on Barney's rain coat seems to
change in the Gold Truck episode. I've always just assumed there were
several scenes shot while they were dodging real rain showers on the back
lot. I seem to recall one other episode where there was evidence of real
rain on the street. Anybody remember what it was?

You can't count Silent Sam or Dogs, Dogs, Dogs, that's TV rain. I'm looking
for real-life California, messing-up-the-shooting-schedule rain.

"runnin' things" not so much "bythe book.....but from the heart!"<<<<

Wow. This is probably the best TAGS-related story I've ever read!!
Congratulations Mr. Jennings!

Subject: Barney In the Rain

I may not have all the facts about the the "Gold Truck" rain coat
but I will give it a try. I noticed that in the eps. that there were
puddles and folks were carrying umbrellas etc. It was the only
time that I rememeber an actual rainy day in Mayberry, other than
storms etc.( Dogs, Gypsies &Sam Becker eps)
I have noticed Barns raincoat incident too. Seems like
something was omitted. I have always thought it was do to erratic
rain in Mayberry( or the set) that day. I hope this helps
     some.
The Gold Truck is one of my favourites, too.

    Have a nice day Laverne

>>>In that episode [with the gold truck coming through town] when Barney
comes out of the motel, he has a raincoat or overcoat on. Right before he
goes outside the motel the coat is dry, but when he gets outside it looks
like something splashed on his coat because it is now wet. It seems like a
scene is missing. Anybody know?
>>>

There's nothing missing, it was just a case of imperfect editing. They
obviously filmed the scene more than once, getting at least one take with
Barney's coat dry, and another with it wet (it was actually raining outside
when that episode was filmed). When it was edited together later, they used
parts of each take.

Some fans say we should not criticize these little inconsistencies, but I
think it's great fun to look for them. Here's one I noticed for the first
time just the other day: In "Up in Barney's Room," Andy and Opie stop by
the courthouse after seeing a Gregory Peck film (they accidentally interrupt
Barney and Thelma Lou, who had been "working" in the dark). When they
leave, Andy has his hands on Opie's shoulders, and he sort of pushes him
toward the door. However, when they reach the door, Opie appears to have
vanished. Andy walks right up to the door, opens it halfway, stands in the
doorway for a moment, says "You'd better get yourself a room!", and then
exits, immediately closing the door behind him. Where did Opie go?

Is this the same thing as the reunion movie? Apparently not! Am I missing even
more Mayberry film footage than I thought? Anyone have this one to share???
The "Mayberry 30 year reunion" -- brother -- will I ever get caught up on all
the TAGS moments I have missed???

I am not sure I know the answer to the dry-wet raincoat, but I have this to
offer.
When it rains in Mayberry it is so good there that you don't even notice it
is raining!

In the episode where AuntBee is wearing a wig, and the Preacher comes to
dinner early, Andy has her wig stashed in his bowling ball bag so he can
sneak it into her in the kitchen. He tells the Preacher that someone is
borrowing his bowling ball.

I just got a CD today from Time-Life music the cd is called
"Instrumentals".
One of the songs on the cd is called "Harlem Nocturne", the music is by
Earle H. Hagen.
My question is this the same Earle Hagen who was the musical director on
TAGS?

Subject: Mayberry Poem

If you like to write poetry, please help us write the world's l-o-n-g-e-s-t
poem about Mayberry at http://pub78.ezboard.com/fmayberryusafrm34

Last year I ran the verses in the Mayberry issue of Christian Activities
Magazine
(http://www.christianactivities.com/dailybread/story_poetspen.asp?ID=1599), but
this year the poem has really grown (somewhere around 400 lines currently) so I
am putting together a Mayberry Poem booklet. Wally's in Mt Airy, NC, has asked
if they can carry them to sell at
the store! So... if you would like to write a verse or two about your favorite
show and see your verse/s in print, head on over to "The Mayberry Poem" at
http://pub78.ezboard.com/fmayberryusafrm34! I will be closing it out sometime
early in the summer to take it to the printer, so don't wait too long! If you
have trouble posting it on the Mayberry Forum,
you can email your verse to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please include your name, city
and state.

 Thanks and Happy Motoring!
 Flora
