I wonder if this was filmed especially for the "Mr McBeeVee" episode, since a
lot of those cast commercials had some kind of tie-in with the plot. I have
one, for instance, in which the Morrision sisters (of "national
still-smashing day" fame) talk about the fact that the grocer sells Post
Sugar Crisp, "and it's not even a special occasion!" Another shows that
fighting couple in front of Andy with another scrap, this time with Andy
trying to sell them Sanka coffee. And the first episode, of course, has Andy
and Opie suggesting that Opie's bird came home because he likes Sanka coffee
so much. But perhaps the most jarring one is the one from the finale, in
which Aunt Bee confesses to Opie that she uses Shake 'N' Bake because "I
haven't fried chicken in a month of Sundays!"

Greetings,
I just got a photo of Jim and Frank Sutton and was wondering if anybody knows
where I could send the photo and if Jim would autograph it for me. If you
could send email privately to me it would. It would be appreciated.

With our conversations about on set commercials done in the early TAGS
years, the best example of those was Burns and Allen. Carnation evaporated
milk commercials were actually written write into the script! Gracie might
be cooking in the kitchen, Harry Von Zel would come in and ask what she was
cooking, she'd say yadda, yadda, yadda and I'm using Carnation Evaporated
Milk and Harry would take off extolling the virtues of this fine product.

This was the very epitome of the on-set commercials. Plus Burns and Allen
were/are just so funny.

(Allan, you can't gig me for talking about stuff outside the TAGS arena
because I actually did say TAGS in the first sentence. This don't even
qualify under the Green River Ordinance!)

encouraging folks to drink Sanka coffee, during a

This is just a friendly reminder for anyone attending 'Barney's Day Out' in
St. Paul, Minnesota. Make sure Mick 'Barney' Kieffer DOES NOT , I repeat, NOT
issue the governor a citation or parking ticket. The result could be fatal.
It might not be like what happened on the TAGS episode 'Barney and the
Governor.' This governor might beat him to a pulp.

Just kidding. Everyone have fun!

TAGS fans,

Realized when I got to work today that I had a bit of a cow lick. So
I went in the restroom and put a little water on it to smooth it out. It
worked, but I kept hearing Floyd in my head saying, "Water's bad for hair"
from "The Case of the Punch in the Nose." I started chuckling, so luckily
there wasn't anyone around that I would have to explain to why I was
standing a public restroom putting water on my hair and laughing.

Subject: TAGS tapes

Greetings from "Just Another Place at the Table for Friday Night Supper"
Chapter of TAGSRWC!
As a neighborly gesture, we have been taping the B&W series of TAGS for
those at WBMUTBB who might not be able to get it on their local stations or
through TVLand. Anyone wanting any of the tapes below, just contact me at
my personal email and let me know which tape(s) you want. (Please refer to
them by Tape Number.)
They are $4.00/ea, which INCLUDES the cost of the new blank tape used to
record the episodes and priority shipping to you. (As you can figure out,
BY DESIGN, there is no profit being made from this project!)
IMPORTANT NOTE: Read the "Contents" lists carefully before deciding which
tape(s) you want, as the same episode often appears on more than one tape.
(This is possible since the local channel's and TVLand's airing schedules
are nearly -- but not exactly -- the same.)
"CONTENTS" LIST KEY: "TVL" means the episodes were taped from TVLand, and
contain epilogs. (Note: Some episodes were not written with epilogs.)
"LOC" means the episodes were taped from a local station and won't contain
epilogs. These episodes, however, have had less material edited from them
in the main storyline. THEY WERE ALSO BROADCAST THROUGH DIRECTV, and so the
quality is excellent.

Two questions:

(1) In watching "Opie's Fortune," I got to wondering what his $50 "find"
would be comparable to in today's economy. The episode was aired in
November of 1964.
How much would Opie have found today? (It's Horatio...)
(Fifty bucks back then WAS a fortune....ESPECIALLY for a kid! As a young
teenager, I was babysitting back in those years for $.50/hr.!)

(2) Could someone tell me which episode the song "Oh My Barney" was sung as
part of the epiolog? (This is not a "test" question...I'm asking for a friend.)

While watching the episode last night where Barney was
a realtor, I noticed that Mr. Williams (Howie's
father) was played by the same guy who played the
father of the brat that came to town (can't think of
his name, but he rode his bike on the street, and
wound up spending time in the woodshed out back behind
the courthouse). Also saw the Leave it to Beaver
brussel sprout episode, where Otis was a (sober)
restaurant manager.

>>>I thought it was "Aunt Bea" for "Beatrice," but credits on some early
shows
list it as "Aunt Bee." Many posters do likewise.

Lots of folks seem to have trouble with this, so let's clear the air: On
The Show, it's ALWAYS Bee, and NEVER Bea. Of course, Bea is a perfectly
acceptable nickname for Beatrice, but Beatrice Taylor uses Bee.

Hi Everyone,
I recently bought a copy of an original script from TAGS. It's the
"Barney's First Car" episode. As I was reading it I noticed the very first
scene was something I had never seen. I've always seen that episode start out
with Andy and Barney in the courthouse, with Barney telling Andy he was
getting a car. But the first scene is with Barney and Thelma Lou in the car
with Barney getting "fresh" of course. As I read through that scene I could
not help but laugh. I would love to actually SEE the scene. I'm sure someone
has seen this particular scene. Those with uncut episodes I'm sure. Anyone
that has seen it---tell me---was it a great scene. It sures sounds like it
was!!
