I am a mental health counselor and I recently had a mother describe to me a
conflict she had with her 15-yr old son. He wanted her to loan him money so
he could buy something he wanted, and she wanted more facts from him before
she would agree. For two days, he constantly harassed her and basically threw
tantrums like a 3-yr old for two days. The mother couldn't take it any more
and finally got alone in her bedroom and asked God to give her strength to
handle this conflict. While she was sitting there, she turned on the TV, and
what she saw was the TAGS episode where Opie is attempting to throw a tantrum
to get what he wanted from Andy. After watching Opie's performance and Andy's
calm reaction, she was able to see the humor of what was going on in her own
life, and left her bedroom ready to face it again. This is proof that God
answers prayer even through the Andy Griffith Show!

You'll probably get a dozen answers on this, but here's mind. I, too, was an
ardent Johnny Coons watcher then we found out from George Lindsey that the
fellow's name was Tom Jacobs, Danny Thomas' brother. Danny's real name was
Amos Jacobs.
A little bit of trivia here. In the pilot for TAGS which was broadcast as an
episode of The Danny Thomas Show, one of the storefronts was a general store
(I believe) that belonged to Amos Jacobs. A little inside joke on the set.
As far as I know, nobody has been able to figure out who is being referenced
in the credits by Johnny Coons.

That's a pretty hefty population growth considering that hardly anybody in
Mayberry was married. Those who were married were either too old to have
kids or they didn't like each other enough to have kids (i.e. the Boones).

phone but the two sisters had the line tied up all day. How can that be? Did
that mean that NOBODY in town could use the phone. That would be like a party
line to everyone. Maybe I don't know much about the phone lines back then.
