I didn't get an answer the first time, so I'll try
again...................only because it is driving me crazy.

I was watching the color episode where the church's organ goes bad while
Clara is playing it and they have to replace it. At the beginning of the
episode, Aunt Bee turns around to another woman and acknowledges her hat.
Who is that woman? I've seen her many, many times on TAGS in groups of
people that are milling around. She has never spoken and this is the first
episode where I've seen her singled out. This has been driving me crazy --
was she related to Andy in real life?

episode that aired here the other night.

In "Ernest T. Bass Joins the Army," he says he's saving up for a gold tooth.
One year later, in "The Education of Ernest T. Bass," he shows Andy his new
gold tooth, and then admits that he got it not from a dentist, but from a
sign painter (it's only gold leaf). Gold tooth for a dollar -- you can't
beat that!

I, too, have been suspicious of how much Paul knows. And I think I know
why. Just like the Stranger in Town, I don't think he is of this earth.
(Now, Barney, you go on up and talk to Paul about this.)

I just read the digest with the reference to Otis
character being written out of TAGS. The producers
missed a brilliant opportunity to highlight the
recovery, AA, process.

I have firsthand experience with the AA program and
it's many successes (I also lost a brother to
alcohol).
Perhaps it would have been more than the then audience
would have accepted and maybe it still is just too
heavy a subject.

Hey Gang!

Tomorrow (Saturday) is the "Free Fishing Day", where you don't
need a license to fish. Please take advantage of Mayberry's # 1 pastime
and take your "little Opie's" fishing. To celebrate this occasion, as I
bring my two "little Opie's" fishing for the first time (ages 3 & 1), I will

tryout "Gomer's Magic Fishing Bait" for trout as told in "Gomer the House
Guest" Episode:

********
Gomer's Magic Fishing Bait

1 dab of limburger cheese
1 slice of onion

It is preferred that you are eating a
limburger and onion sandwich and get the items
for the bait from said sandwich. Bait hook and fish.
********

I will give this a try on Saturday and let you all know how it went.
Mayberry says "Thanks" and "Happy Fishing".

Hello all,

I am working on a project that is focusing on TAGS and I need some help with
the research. I need to come up with a list of all the scenes (and their
respective episodes) in which Andy talks about his late wife. I know there
are several instances in the B/W years, but is mention ever made of it in
the color episodes?

So, which episodes refer to Andy's late wife? I would appreciate any help.

According to Tim Spencer, DJ for Rock 103 in Memphis, Tennessee, Andy
Griffith visited a radio station in Dallas, Texas that Tim was working at in
1972. Andy paid a visit to the broadcasting booth and looked around at all
the rock posters hanging on the wall. Andy exclaimed something along the
lines of "This looks just like my son's bedroom!"

Could Opie's room have looked like this in 1972? The TAGS episode 'Opie's
Group' seemed to indicate that Opie's musical tastes were heading in the rock
n' roll direction.

I don't know about Beverly Sills, but wasn't Jack involved in a hot and

relationship in the 80's with the singer was Bonnie Raitt?

Friends,

That's not funny. Mr. Dodson was a happily married man until his passing. He
and his wife Mary were married from 1959 until the time of his death in 1994.

What if Mr. Dodson's widow were a member of this mailing list? Think how
this comment would make her feel?

I realize this was a joking remark but just the same....I felt that I needed
to "nip-it in the bud" because this type thing could be taken as truth and
cause rumors to be started that would be hurtful to Mr. Dodson's family.

After all....remember that from a scratch on his finger, the town of Mayberry
had Barney killed off with a gun shot to his chest.

Since Johnny Coons never appeared in Mayberry you might be wondering what he

If he lost the hat, he could fit right in as Mr. Schwump's sidekick.

hid out in a warehouse, in one of Barney's colorized
returns. Tall, brunette guy. Just a guess. Any
input?

Hi everyone: I caught the epilog for Crime Free mayberry recently and it
was FUNNY! I've never seen it before. People mention the word "Colourized"
while referring to the COLOUR years for Tags. I just wanted to point out
that TAGS black and white shows were not colourized to my knowledge. That's
what that word refers to. The colourization of film originally shot in black
and white. The colour years of Andy are not colourized episodes. They were
shot in colour on colour film. I may sound a little retentive here and I
apologize but I wish people would accept the colour series as COLOUR and not
"colourized" The differences between the 2 medium are obvious. I love the
colour seasons just as much as the Black and white seasons. And I'm sure
many members will agree that if Desilu had the budget, filming of the ENTIRE
series in colour would be preferable to the classic black and white years,
they would still be classic and even better had they have been shot in
colour. We could 've seen Barney's face go red when he was embarrased, White
when he went to the haunted house for Opie's baseball, etc, etc... The
colourization of film in the mid/late 1980's was quite experimental and not
as successful as to what it is now. Today's techniques are so far advanced
that if the first 5 seasons of TAGS were to be colourized and mastered from
the original negatives using todays technology, the quality would be
incredible. You'd swear they were originally colour! I for one would like
to see that. After all a person can always turn off the colour setting on
their tv to see it in its b&w format. I LOVE black and white but if there's
an opportunity to see shows and movies in colour I'm all for it! Have a fun
filled Mayberry day! :) Keith
