Just wondering if the song Jim Lindsey plays is an original or a "cover" of
a song?
It sounds like a Chet Atkins song that I've heard before.

Hello Everyone: It's been a while since I have been able to read the
digest. So if this has been asked before I apologize. I read in our paper
that there was going to be a Mayberry Reunion in New Castle Indiana and some
of the cast members are going to be there. If anyone knows the date of this
event could you please send it to the digest. Thanks so much Randy in

There are four episodes in which Barney spreads rumors that Andy is about to
get married:

To Mary the nurse in "Three's a Crowd"
To Helen in "The Rumor," "Andy and Helen Have Their Day" and "Three Wishes
for Opie."

Floyd spreads a similar rumor about Andy and Peggy in "Andy and Opie,
Bachelors." There are two times when we see Andy "accidentally" propose
marriage to girls:

To Ellie in "The New Doctor"
To Helen "ring-a-ding-ding" Brown in "The Manicurist"

Andy obviously was engaged to Opie's mother at some point, but very little
is known about that part of his life. In "Class Reunion" we learn that he
and Sharon DuSpain once talked about marriage (had they actually gotten
married, it would probably have been right after high school). In the color
episodes (specifically, "Helen the Authoress") we learn that he and Helen
are engaged. They finally get married in the first episode of Mayberry RFD.

Friends,

I want to invite you all to visit the TAGSRWC web site at Mayberry.com.
   http://www.mayberry.com/

There is ALL KINDS of information there that many of you have never noticed
like the Mayberry "Event Calendar" which tells about every Mayberry related
event that we know of. You'll see the link to it right there on the front page.

I really want to encourage you to take a few minutes to check out the resources
that the site has to offer. I work pretty hard to keeping things up-to-date
over there so that's why I continue to point out that there's a lot of Mayberry
stuff there when I see posts by folks that must never have dropped by for a
visit.

See, now that's where you'd have a problem as it had nothing to do with
the film or expense. For the first five years, Mayberry was black and
white, dontcha know?

Hello all

Two questions for everyone,

1. Which episodes make mention of Andy's late wife? (Any color episodes?)

2. Does anyone know the history of the "There is a time, for us to wander
..." song that shows up a couple of times in the series? I would like to
know the title, an origin or writter?

Thanks,

"Who you signaling to!?"

David Letterman had Andy Griffith on his show back in 1983 when Dave
broadcasted from Los Angeles for a week. Dave later had Don Knotts on his
show when he moved to CBS and the 'Ed Sullivan Theater.' Speaking of 'Ed
Sullivan Theater', Andy wasn't crazy about his performance there early in his
career on 'The Ed Sullivan Show.' Ron Howard has also appeared on 'The David
Letterman Show' with some humorous show business anecdotes. One funny story
was when he was a guest star on 'Lassie' shortly after 'The Andy Griffith
Show' ended. Ronny was chastised by the director for ruining Lassie's
close-ups.

Subject: Baltimore Orioles vs. Los Angeles Dodgers: Mayberry Style
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

On Sunday June 9, I attended the baseball game between the Baltimore Orioles
and the Los Angeles Dodgers. It was the first time the Dodgers have been in
Baltimore since the 1966 World Series. The Orioles defeated the Dodgers in
the 1966 World Series four games to zero. 'The Andy Griffith Show' episode
'The Ball Game' originally aired on October 3, 1966. Game 1 of the '66 series
began on October 5, 1966 in L.A.
Rance Howard wrote the story of 'The Ball Game.' Clint Howard (and I assuming
Rance and Ronny) attended a game of the 1965 World Series between Los Angeles
and Minnesota. Clint can be seen wearing an Orioles hat in Stephen J.
Spignesi's book 'Mayberry My Hometown.'

Howard Sprague mistakenly refers to the St. Louis Dodgers and the St. Louis
Orioles in the TAGS episode 'Big Brother.' He meant to say the 'Los Angeles
Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals respectively. Lastly, here's an insignificant
piece of trivia. TAGS ended production with 249 episodes in 1968. Orioles
slugger Boog Powell had a batting average of .249 in 1968.

Thank you to those who prayed for my family while my dad was in critical
condition with an aortic aneurysm. He is doing much better and is in
rehab now. We expect him home in a few weeks. The spirit of Mayberry is
definitely alive and well in this group. After all, Mayberry folks come
together when there is a need. Poor old Emma never would have survived
those days without her pills if not for the kindness of her neighbors.

Did Barney use the call "Hooty Hoo" in a TAGS episode? I know he did some bad
bird calls, but I am trying to place the "Hooty Hoo" call.
Thanks!
