That would have more than just the name "Opie" for its TAGS connection. Dub
Taylor has played several noted characters on TAGS, including the preacher man,
what married Dud and Charlene so's as to satisfy Ernest T. Bass.

When talking bout TAGS and Fathers Day, one scene will always be the one I
treasure most. Even though I am a staunch member of the Black and White
Party the first color episode, "Opies Job", contains one of the most
poignant moments of Andy and Opies, father / son relationship. The line
when Andy claims he was mistaken about telling Floyd and Goober what a fine
boy he was, and that instead "youre a man" gets me every time!
A close second is the scene in which Andy defends his decision to "believe"
in Mr. McBeevee in the "Mr. McBeevee" episode. This moment proves that Andy
will never need advice from the magazine section of the Sunday paper.
Happy Fathers Day to all!
Then, and ONLY then, will he be allowed to go fishing.
Steve Mitchell

dapper gentleman with a bit of wife trouble!

Well, I found something while preparing a Sunday message on Father's Day that
I thought worth sharing. Although there are several stories and claims on
the founding of Father's Day, it was Calvin Coolidge that made the day a
national event. In declaring the 3rd Sunday in June Father's Day, he said in
doing so, "to establish more intimate relations between fathers and their
children and to impress upon fathers the full measure of their obligations".
So I guess he said more than "I chose not to run"
I had some time to discuss trival trivialites, so I just passed it along.
thanks,

<<Attention all Dillards fans! The Dillards' 1968 release 'Wheatstraw Suite'
and 1970 release 'Copperfields' will be available on CD on June 17.
>>
These are indeed two great albums, but just a reminder: The "There Is a Time"
CD at Weaver's Dept. Store contains 14 prime cuts from these two albums (plus
favorite selections from three other key Dillards albums), a total of 29
songs in all for just $19 ($14 for cassette).
