Hi Everyone,
Just wondering hwo many will be attending "A Tribute to Mayberry" on June
28 in Pigeon Forge. It would be nice if we could get together. How many
are staying at the Baymont Inn? I am very excited about going. This trip
is my 40th birthday present from my family.

Hey I saw Floyd on Donna Reed too! What a classic.Who was the
actress that played his wife? Floyd acted like he did in the TAGS
eps
when he joined the lonely hearts club and the lady showed up.
Howard MacNear was such a great comedian.

Thanks so much for those wonderful "Quotes of the Day". I print them out =
and
share them with friends who don't have computers. One of my friends was
wondering if you could do the dialog from "Citizens Arrest"? The bit betw=
een
Barney and Gomer is priceless!! =0D
Also, on another note, I ordered the Dillards album "There is a Time" and
play it in my car. The responses from folks who hear it are priceless. Wh=
ile
going through the drive-thru at MacDonalds, and paying the lady she said=
,=20
You know if I didn't know better, I'd swear you were listening to the "An=
dy
Griffith Show"! I said, well, not quite, but almost as good, and turned u=
p
my CD player for her to listen. She then told me what a great fan she was=
of
the show, and how she had argued with her daughter to name her new puppy=20
Ernest T". I said, "Well, if you're that big of a fan, I have a present f=
or
you" and presented her with the "It's Me-It's Me- It's Ernest T" bumper
sticker that I had purchased with the CD from Weavers. Needless to say I
made her day. Keep up the Great Work.=0D

Subject: Johnny Coons report
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Hey Folks,
I've got some more info on Johnny Coons, who is listed in the credits of the
episode "Goober Takes a Car Apart." Here is one picture of him:
http://www.geocities.com/squadcar63/johnnycoons.bmp
A few days back, Rod reported to this list that Johnny was in the film "Tell
Them Willie Boy is Here" (not much of a film, BTW) so I tracked down a copy
of it. Here's a picture taken from the film:
http://www.geocities.com/squadcar63/jcoons.jpg
Johnny is on the left. According to the credits, the other guy is Charles
Aidman, who played Frank Smith from the state school board in the episode
"Andy's Rival" (doesn't look much like him, though).
Johnny definitely does not appear in "Goober Takes a Car Apart," so I
conclude that Jim Clark's theory about his scene being cut must be correct.
Obviously, there must have been a short scene with Johnny and Stanley Farrar
(he is also listed in the credits, but he doesn't appear in the episode
either) that ended up on the cutting room floor. For them that don't know,
Stanley Farrar played a variety of characters on TAGS, including Mr. Foley
in "One-Punch Opie" (the boys stole tomatoes and threw them at him), a
pickle judge in "The Pickle Story" and medal-maker Ray Watson in "Crime-Free
Mayberry."

Somewhere I missed the note (until I saw Allan's
reply) about the release of The Dillards "Wheatestraw
Suite" and "Copperfields". That is great. Sure would
like to see a CD release of "Roots and Branches".

Hello All,
Someone made mention of a scene where a microphone cord is seen on Andy's
pant leg. Can you tell me what episode and what scene to look for? I always
love to see little things like that. Thanks!

Just saw Andy today on an episode of Hawaii 5-0. He was playing a flim-flam
artist along with
a wife and child. They wind up taking the suitcase from a Mob bagman and then
have the Mob out looking for
them. It was kinda different seeing Andy on the other side of the Law for a
change.

These are just a few little items about names we all love. The first is I
saw Lawson's Barber Shop but I can't remember where I drove past it. And two
B-E-R-N-A-R-D s (Mrs. Lesch episode)...my step-daughter Teri lives on
BERNARD Ave. in Cincinnati and my future daughter-in-law, Becky's father
goes by Ben but his real name is B-E-R-N-A-R-D. I just love it when Mrs.
Lesch spells out B-E-R-N-A-R-D. Ben and Barney are just nicks for
B-E-R-N-A-RD. How 'Bout Dooley?

I saw that! I told my husband about seeing Floyd on Donna Reed's show and then
told him how the story went. And just in case he didn't learn the lesson, I
said, "By the way, for future reference, a meat slicer is not a gift
I want to get on my anniversary!" :) I always like to see TAGS people on other
shows.

Hey folks,
Thanks to WBMTUBB and Mayberry Texans Chapter member Jim Schwenke we now have
a good photo of the real Johnny Coons on the TAGSRWC web site in the
"Howard's Notes" section. There's a link to it right on the front page of

Among all the world leaders, celebrities and others that evangelist Billy
Graham has socialized and spread the Gospel with, I believe that Gomer and
Goober are among the standouts. To my knowledge, the only Mayberry
celebrities Billy has talked with are Jim Nabors and George Lindsey. There
might be more; I don't know. Billy's autobiography is entitled 'Just As I
Am.' Andy Griffith's 1997 gospel album has the same name.

In the movie Shenandoah, starring James Stewart, two TAGS characters at least
make an appearance. "Brisco Darlin'" Denver Pyle is a preacher, and James
Best "Jim Lindsay" is a confederate POW who helps Anderson's (James Stewart)
son escape from a riverboat.
