Andy certainly understood the 'spirit of the law!'
Floyd notwithstanding, ya' gotta' love Ben.
I just understood the meaning of the community we have

Hey folks,
I have a Wheaties cereal box with Barney's picture on it for sale on eBay
right now:

I made it myself, and if I may say so myself, I think it turned out great.

Now THAT is the best explanation yet. Why didn't I think of that? We do
learn in "Andy Forecloses" that Ben is planning to build a new warehouse.
This may indicate that he has more than one store, since it doesn't seem
likely (to me, anyway) that he would need a warehouse otherwise.

To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
As I said once, I drove through Mt Airy once on my way
up north. I didn't stop in anywhere, I just drove
through Main St. and saw the sites. Is there really a
lot that you can do walking around? Are there
buildings replicating the buildings from the show that
you can visit? I never saw the garage, I just saw the
snappy lunch and Floyd's, that I can remember. Is
there a good website that tells all about the town?
I'd appreciate it. I might just make my first ever
Mayberry Days this year after all.

Can anyone name any other tv shows that were started
b&w, then went color?

I believe my favorit Western, 'Gunsmoke' started it's
tv life in b&w. After it's radio series, which had
several voices from TAGS.

I guess I just have an inquiring mind, but I always thought the way Thelma
Lou moved out of town after Barney left made perfect sense. I envisioned her
being totally devastated that Barney would move away and not marry her, so
she realized she could only go on with her life in another town. To stay in
Mayberry where everything would remind her of Barney would have been too
difficult.

Hello All in Mayberry
I had a Mayberry moment yesterday. Went to see a double feature at
the local theater (OK, so I paid for two movies), anyway during the
intermission, I was in the lobby for a Coke and popcorn refill. I saw a
poster for a coming attraction that stated out "Fight fire with fire." I
immediately thought "You fight fire with water." Anyway had a nice chuckle
to myself and thought I would share with all of you.
Have a great Mayberry day.

Hey Andy-lovers. Think about this...How many advertising slogans may have
come out of the Griffith show?
Now I don't mean Foster's furniture polish, and I'm not counting commercials
they had on the show for General Foods. (Ritz Crackers--good cracker
...gooood cracker)
No, these would be phrases used on the show that later turned up in
advertising such as...
Malcolm Tucker (Man in a Hurry) when Barney kept repeating Go home, take a
nap, go over the Thelma Lou's and watch a little TV. Malcolm spoke that
future Nike slogan. "Just do it!"
Go home take a nap go over to Thelma Lou's just go on boy, do it!
And how about Andy, with his mantra about the broken freezer that later
became an Orkin (exterminator) sales Pitch "Call the Man!".
OK..there may me a few more put your bucket on and think

I think I'm correct in saying that his real name is
(or was) Willis Bouchey. Beside being (Charlie)
O'Malley (son-in-law to the owner of the Jenson's
Orthopedic Loafers patent) he was also Mr. Brady (#26
The Inspector) and Mr. Carter (#85 The Great Filling
Station Robbery) and Fletcher Roberts who works at the
Depot (#127 Back to Nature) as you mentioned.

I reckon one of my favorite front porch scenes is the one where Opie is in
training for the track and field events. Barney gets down on his back pulls
his legs up and asks Andy to sit on his feet. Barneys expressions are
priceless..... get up....Ange get up...your killin' me....your killin' me!!
That one puts me in the floor. Andy acts like he can't hear old Barn. ....LOL
....
Also another good one is when the Darlings come to town to find wives for "the
boys" and see the "omen of the owl" from the porch, and when they run off when
it comes back..... Hardee Har Har...
..............watch out "big ears" there's a crazy owl flying around
here..........

Rafe could have been born when his Daddy was in his 60's or 70's. Not an
impossible situation. My mother-in-law's grandpa was a Civil War
veteran who married again when he was in his 60's and had five more
children.

I am one of the many poor souls sitting at home this weekend instead of
enjoying the Mayberry show down at Pigeon Forge. For all of you who were
able to attend, I have a request. I would like to hear specifically about
any personal encounters you had with Betty Lynn (a.k.a. Thelma Lou) and/or
your impression of her, including things she said to the audience. Actually,
any information about her would be appreciated. Looking forward to your
comments!

<<<Saw Jack Dodson (aka Howard Sprague) on a re-run of "St. Elsewhere" today.
He was on about 7 episodes of "St. Elsewhere" as a judge on the board of St.
Eligius. They made a deliberate reference to TAGS today, though...when a
chaplain responded to his call, he replied, "I wasn't calling for a
chaplain...I was calling for Floyd the barber!">>>
"St. Elsewhere" was known for its inside jokes like that, and that wasn't even
the only one involving TAGS. In the finale one character punningly says of the
hospital's barber (look closely): "Floyd's been cutting hair here longer than I
can remember. Mr. Shapiro may bury us all."
