On Leave it to Beaver recently there was good ole' Olive, the waitress,
being in charge of the school play. She was all keyed up since Beaver,
who was the opening bunny, was missing!

That Nostalgia company not only has TAGS items just like Weaver's. They
have a myriad of other goods that would be of interest to lots of folks
like me. It's worth a look-see: www.nostalgiavilleUSA.com.

Question from a VERY untrained noticer: In the episode
where Aunt Bee 'dates' the egg & butter man. Barney
pulls into Wally's to find Hendrick's Egg and Butter
delivery truck. Standing next to the truck is a young
man who identifies himself as Mr. Hendrick's son.
What is the actor's name?
Also, several years ago I lived in Jasonville, IN
(pop. 3,000) where there is an actual WALLY'S SERVICE.

I just can't believe that Scwump has been lost! I mean....there are men
circling the earth.....and we still can't find out who Mr. Schwump is!
Somewhere...out there....there looms a person....that knows this deep dark
secret! There are plenty of things going on in the twilight zone that we
know nothing about! Perhaps we should consult Laura lee Hobbs.....or
Viola Slat......SOMEONE HAS GOT TO KNOW!

Check out this week's 'People' magazine on newstands now. In the cover story
on Tatum O'Neal there is a photo of Joanna Moore, known to TAGS fans as nurse
Peggy Simpson, along with Ryan O'Neal, Tatum, and Griffin. It was taken in
1965. She looks exactly like she did as nurse Peggy although she ended her
four episode TAGS stint in 1962.

Subject: '61 Squad Car replica for sale!
Date: Thu, 4 Jul 2002 16:37:32 -0400
Due to some recent developments (not bad ones though!) I'm selling my =
'61 Ford Galaxie Mayberry Squad Car. Although this car doesn't have the =
exact body used on the show in '61 (this one has the larger back roof =
supports like was used on all the other years cars!), it's in great =
shape and ready to go!!
I have approx. $7000 invested (it has all new belts, hoses, engine =
parts, brakes, tires...all with LESS than 200 miles on 'em!!!) Willing =
to take $6000. The Mayberry insignias are the BEST I've ever seen on any =
Squad car replica (are magnetic and easily to add or remove). See =
attached pic...IF it works!!
Please email (or call!?) me direct about this and not through the =
bulletin board!!

Subject: The Actor Who Sold the Veggies
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
In response to the question about the actor who played several different
charactors on TAGS, including the man selling veggies beside the road, and
later played Sam the Butcher on "the Brady Bunch," the actor was ALLEN MELVIN.
He in fact played EIGHT different characters on TAGS over the years. He was
Clarence "Doc" Malloy on Episode 50, "Jailbreak." A few weeks later in Episode
57, "Andy and Barney in the Big City," he was Detective Bartolli at the hotel.
In Episode 73, "Lawman Barney," he was Neil, the veggie seller. In Episode 90,
"Barney's First Car," he was Jake. In Episode 99, "Ernest T. Bass Joins the
Army," he was the Recruiting Sergeant dealing with Ernest T. In Episode 118,
"Andy's Vacation," he played a convict who met up with Andy in the woods. In
Episode 135, "Barney's Uniform," he played Fred Plummer, the litterbug who told
Barney he better not catch him out of his uniform. And later in the color
years, in Episode 222, "Howard's Main Event," Mr. Melvin!
played Clyde Plaunt, who was Millie's ex-boyfriend who wanted to beat up
Howard Sprague. I think Mr. Melvin probably played more DIFFERENT characters
than any other actor on TAGS. And did you know...he was actually on more
different episodes of TAGS than even Howard Morris, who played Ernest T? Can
anyone else come up with any other actors and actresses who played more than
one character on TAGS? There were several ! ! !
By the way, Mr. Melvin also later played Barney Hefner on "All in the Family,"
my second all-time favorite TV show!
