I'm sure this has been talked about before, I was watching some of the
Twilight Zone Marathon yesterday.
We noticed four Andy characters. Mrs. Wylie, Ernest T. Bass, Jim Lindsay,
and Jud. I'm sure there
are others.

Question from a VERY untrained noticer: In the episode
where Aunt Bee 'dates' the egg & butter man. Barney
pulls into Wally's to find Hendrick's Egg and Butter
delivery truck. Standing next to the truck is a young
man who identifies himself as Mr. Hendrick's son.
What is the actor's name?
It was Bobby Diamond. He played Joey on the TV series "Fury". With Peter
Graves.

That was Bobby Diamond. In addition to being an actor, Mr. Diamond was also
a champion gymnast.
Trivia time! (this is a real toughie, unless you search the archives for
the last time I asked this one, but that would be cheating)
In real life, which TAGS actress once dated Bobby Diamond?

Actually, with 8 parts he comes in a distant third, after Mary Lansing
(about 12 different characters) and Bob McQuain (about 15 different
characters). However, most of Allan Melvin's parts on TAGS were substantial
roles, while Ms. Lansing's and Mr. McQuain's were usually very short parts,
with only one or two lines of dialogue. In the final season, Mary Lansing
finally got a permanent role, that of Martha Clark.

Hi Gang...
Good question posed about the character's name who played the butter and egg
mans son. His name is Bobby Diamond. Years ago he played the lead in a
saturday morning kids show called FURY, a show about a horse. That was back
in the good ole days of real saturday morning kids shows instead of all
cartoons, LOL.
Two weeks till Mayberry in the Midwest. Everyone be sure to wear your WBMUTBB

The actor that portrayed Mr. Hendrick's son was Bobby Diamond, who was also on
the tv show "Fury".

Happy 4th of July (one day late) Mayberry!
In today's (7-5-02) USA Today, Life Section (Purple Border) they list the 10
best places to get a haircut and each place has a short write-up. One of
the places listed is our own Floyd's City Barber Shop in Mt. Airy, with a
little paragraph about Russell Hiatt and how he used to cut Andy's hair.
Check it out if you can!

You are correct. The disposal is one of the things she kept from her game show
winnings.

I believe Mr. Hendrick's son was portrayed by Bobby Diamond. If memory
serves me, he played on "Fury" when I was a kid. It was a horse show.

He was also a regular on the "Phil Silvers Show" (a.k.a. "You'll Never

Ted,
To answer your question Ted, the Hendricks boy (Evan)
was played by Bobby Diamond....He was only on TAGS
once that I can remember but he has been on a number
of other series like Lassie, Fury, Patty Duke Show
etc..
So he would not fall into the question that Danny
asked:
Can anyone else come up with any other actors and
actresses who played more than one character on TAGS?
But not to worry, I have a couple...
How about Wilbur Pine, Charlie Foley, and Sam Lindsey
all played by Frank Ferguson....
or
How about Karen Burgess, Ethel, Sharon McCall, and
Sharon Porter (with hurt toes) all played by Ronda
Jeter
Ryan

Let's not forget that in addition to Allan Melvin's eight Mayberry
appearances, he was a 'Gomer Pyle USMC' semi-regular. He also had a guest
spot on the 'Mayberry R.F.D.' episode 'Hair.'
This is one character actor that I would love to see at a Mayberry show or a
Hollywood Collectors Show.

There is a nice little article in the May/June edition of the Country
Discoveries Magazine about Mayberry. Headlines says; Mayberry Lives On.
Tells about the Snappy Lunch, Floyds Barbershop, Vistors Center, etc. along
with a couple of pictures. Also advertises Mayberry Days.
Its a nice story about our little town!!

>>I think Mr. Melvin probably played more DIFFERENT characters than any

Danny..Thats what I used to think also, until some of the experts trained
me. Allen is my favorite "extra" and probably played more different
"memorable" roles that any one else but Mary Lansing played 12 different
roles in 16 different episodes. You may know her as Martha Clark (Emmett's
wife) of Mrs. Lukens who sold Andy the Bed Jacket. Bob McQuain played 11
different characters is 15 episodes, I believe. Perhaps his most
recognizable role was Sgt Johnson on "Barney Gets his Man" He's a tall guy.
Course neither one of them ended up being Sgt Hacker on Gomer Pyle either.
For even more minor roles, many without lines, Tom Jacobs is probably right
up there also.
Just noticed something on the Cousin Virgil episode. When Virgil cleans the
keys and files them down too far, Andy is standing there talking to Barney
with the keys in his hand. Just over Barney's shoulder, guess what you can
see?? The keys hanging on the wall right by the cell DOOR? It is so
obvious, one might think they would have found another set, after Barney
tore out the wall. Guess the prop department had a spare set. Other
explanations??
I guess I'm just not a plunger
