Hey everyone,

I just wanted to know where I could go to find information about where Jim
Nabors and Don Knotts will be performing? Don Knotts was scheduled to appear
here in San Diego, CA, but canceled the show and I am not sure in Jim Nabors
has been to this neck of the woods.

God Bless all the TAGSRWC members,

Wayne & Valerie McBrayer

Hey, everybody, one of the best websites for finding out who played certain
characters and which actors were ever on TAGS is at www.mayberry.com. Type it
in and then click on "Cast Member/Episode Database" on the right side. You can
type in any actor's or character's name and find every episode they were ever
in. If you type in a keyword in one of the episode's titles, it will list
every character appearing in the credits of that episode. And you were right,
Mary Lansing and Bob McQuain did play more different characters than Allan
Melvin, but certainly neither of them ever had the impact on the show that Mr.
Melvin did. And Tom Jacobs (Danny Thomas's brother) is only listed once. As
someone said on an earlier post here last week, obviously when these shows were
taped in the 60's, nobody knew that 30 to 50 years later we would all be
watching them and analyzing them on them new electonals marvel the VCRs (I
still don't have one of them new-fangled marvels the DVD playe!
r. Don't trust them thangs yet.)

So go to www.mayberry.com and type in "Allan" and "Melvin," or "Burt" and
"Mustin," or any other character or actor's name. How about "Howard" and
"Morris"? The intersting thing about looking up Howard Morris is that you will
see just how few episodes he was ever in. That just goes to show that in just
a few episodes, Howard Morris created THE most memorable "bit" character in the
history of TV.

Hey, an interesting tidbit of trivia about the characters. If you type in
"Mr." and "Schwamp" (That's how they spelled it, though it sounds like
"Shwump"), you'll see that no actors name is listed as playing him. So that
mystery continues......

Was watching the wonderful Peter Falk on A&E as
Columbo (2 episodes from the early 70's). I forgot
how great that show was. In one of the episodes, he
states that he doesn't carry a gun. Sound like anyone
we know? There is bound to be some type of Falk/TAGS
connection. I'm sure some of the movies he starred in
had character actors from TAGS, like "Murder, Inc.",
"It's a Mad, mad, mad, mad world", etc. Anybody think
of any? Kinda like that game "6 degrees of Kevin
Bacon". I'm sure the same can be done for
TAGS......I'm bored, all there is to watch for the
next several months is my beloved Twilight Zone....

While channel surfing around 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning, I stumbled upon Betty
Lynn on the Disney produced 'Texas John Slaughter' T.V. series on The Disney
Channel. 'Texas John Slaughter' aired from 1958-1961. The episode I watched
Sunday morning was produced in 1960, the same year TAGS debuted. If anyone
ever wanted to see Thelma Lou in color at the dawn of TAGS, (other than
photographs) this is it. She looks dazzling in Disney technicolor. The TAGS
episode 'The Return of Barney Fife' featured Betty Lynn in color, but she
wore a different hairstyle than in the black and white episodes.

I was watching an episode of Ozzie and Harriet and they were at Wally's.
Of course, it simply said garage, but both buildings and pumps were
there. I expected Gomer or Goober to come out at any moment!

You remember when Virgil is coming to town on the bus and when he isn't
there, Andy asks the driver if he picked up a young fellow in Currituck?
While reading the paper yesterday, I saw an article about Currituck Country
over on the NC coast. But a search of the internet also shows a Currituck
just south of Charlotte on I-77.

I'm sure the name got into the script because of Andy, but I wonder which
one it was?

Greetings from Mayberry, Michigan....

I did some checking on Bobby Diamond, who portrayed Evan Hendricks in the
episode Aunt Bea's Invisible Beau. According to the Internet Movie Data Base,
he is a practicing attorney in the Los Angeles area, at least as of 1998.
