"I saw an article about Currituck Country

I'm sure the name got into the script because of Andy, but I wonder which
one it was?

Dan, I'm willing to bet it's the one near the coast since Andy has
maintained his home in Manteo since the late 50's.

Hey everybody! We got back from vacation Saturday evening. Had a wonderful
time, but I wish we could have made it to Mt. Airy. While in Gatlinburg I
was searching for TAGS-type stuff and found an hilarious picture I've got to
tell you about. It was Barney in a white shirt and his salt-and-pepper
pants, being held up by Andy and Opie on what looks like a homemade
skateboard. Opie is cracking up and Ange looks like he's about to do the
same. Barn has that priceless look of fear and bewilderment on his face that
we all love! It had to be a behind-the-scenes kind of thing, because I sure
don't remember him trying to ride a skateboard. I roared out loud when I saw
it.

By the way, North Carolina is full of wonderfully nice people, and the Blue
Ridge Parkway is probably the most beautiful, scenic road I've ever seen
outside of Kentucky, but folks, calling it a parkway is misleading. I was
thinking of something like our Blue Grass Parkway which is 4 lanes, grass
median, 1 mile out of every 5 roughly flat and level. It never occured to me
that building a road like that through the Smoky Mts. would be next to
impossible. I think it would have taken a full day to get from Mt. Airy to
Asheville or Cherokee had we gone there and taken the parkway. I don't think
I ever got out of 3rd gear except to downshift. However I'm not complaining.
Like I said, it was spectacular! I'm definitely going back, except next
time I'll know what to expect.

Sliding Rock was a blast! Cold as heck, but great fun!

Subject: "Mayberry in the Midwest" Update
Date: Mon, 8 Jul 2002 08:03:13 -0500

Howdy everyone! I just wanted to update everyone on the "Mayberry in the
Midwest" event coming to New Castle, Indiana July 19-20. We are looking
forward to seeing all of the great Mayberry fans and showing you some
"Hoosier" hospitality. Please keep checking out our website
mayberryinthemidwest.com It has all the information you need about the event:
Schedule of events and activities, Area attractions, Visitors information,
lodging information, press releases, a printable map, etc. Especially look at
our charity auction items section. The items with detailed descriptions will
be up this week. You can also find links to many of the stars' website plus
this website and mayberry.com Keep checking back periodically these next two
weeks as we have a few surprises planned.

I also wanted to tip my hat to Tim McAbee and the show he presented in Pigeon
Forge June 28. It was outstanding! George Lindsey, Howard Morris, Betty
Lynn, Jean Carson, Ronnie Schell, Barbara Stuart, and Keith Thibodeaux put on
a great show. Our own David Browning, Allan Newsome and Kenneth Junkin were
also at their best. We just hope we can give you all the same kind great
event in New Castle.

I had another 'Mayberry moment' last evening.
'SHAZZAM' came up. I have so many Mayberry moments, I
can't recall where and when I see and hear them.

My mind just 'doesn't' work that way!

I did some checking on Bobby Diamond, who portrayed Evan Hendricks in the
episode Aunt Bea's Invisible Beau. According to the Internet Movie Data
Base,
he is a practicing attorney in the Los Angeles area, at least as of 1998.

Subject: SAM's Club 16 episode DVD question?
Date: Mon, 8 Jul 2002 07:50:53 -0600

Hey Gang,

I'm sure this has been answered before, but please assist me anyway.
After all, it IS the neighborly thing. The DVD's at SAM's Club that
have 16 episodes doesn't list the episodes on the box. Does anyone know
which episodes they are? I already have some TAGS DVD's, and don't
want to "double-buy". Gotta save my RARE nickels.

Thanks,

RFD" the same house used on "The Waltons"? It sure
looks familiar!

There is bound to be some type of Falk/TAGS
>connection. I'm sure some of the movies he starred in
>had character actors from TAGS, like "Murder, Inc.",
>"It's a Mad, mad, mad, mad world", etc.

I remember right off the bat that Don Knotts did, indeed, have a bit part in
"It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World."

Hey everybody, I hope all of you had a wonderful 4'th of July!

I had a Mayberry Moment last week that I am pretty sure lots of you had and may
not realize it. I was changing my calendar from June to July and what do I see
but a big American flag with huge letters beside it that say:........ "WE THE
PEOPLE".... of course besides being so thankful to live in this great country,
I started cracking up with visions of Barney. He was such a hoot when he tried
to remember anything like that wasn't he? To hear him tell it, he was quite
the student...but I believe his old teacher Mrs. Von Roder who was the "beast
of the fifth (?) floor would probably tell us different. She sure did yell
when they put that tack on her chair!!! Which reminds me... when Mayberry
Union High had a reunion and Barney came back to Mayberry, so excited about
seeing Old 'Thel again, didn't one of his former teachers "get after" him? If
I remember correctly it was the same actress playing the part of his teacher
that was in the episode with Barney's sidecard and she!
had the sister "Tillie" you know the one they called "the beaver" because she
had those long teeth. I sure wish her Daddy had found a better dentist then
poor old Tillie wouldn't have had to have such a terrible nickname.

Hope to see everyone at Mayberry in the Midwest on the 20'th!!!

.......you two are a regular Bert and Squirt...................

I was watching the episode when Opie finds the baby on the door front of the
court house. There has been some discussion about the unenforcement of the
law by Andy in certain episodes. At the end he just verbally repremands the
parents, one of them played by Jack N.alias the "JOKER". This out of all the
law breakers has to be the most severe case of breaking the law that doesn't
result in any jail time. It is unimaginable what would happen to a parent
today if they did something like this. Well just another topic to kick
around the site,

Subject: Barney's Preamble
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I had the privilege of spending last week -- including July 4 -- in
Philadelphia while attending the National Convention of the American Guild of
Organists. In a rare moment of free time, I wandered down into the heart of
Old Town Philadelphia to visit all the wonderful historic sites, including
the Betsy Ross House, the Liberty Bell, Congress Hall, Independence Hall,
etc. All these experiences deepened my awareness and appreciation of these
important roots of our nation's birth and of American liberty.

In the hallowed chambers of Independence Hall, brave and distinguished
leaders, including George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, debated and
eventually agreed upon our Declaration of Indepence. In these same chambers,
during the Constitutional Convention of 1787, the Constitution of the United
States of America was ratified, including the Preamble made famous in TAGS!
As I stood there in awe, staring at the very chair Washington sat in while
presiding, I kept hearing those noble words from Barney's lips . . . . "WE .
. . . WE TH-THE . . . . PEOPLE . . . . .

Happy belated Independence Day!

I beg your pardon. How could I have misspelled the word, "Independence,"
when referring to our great American document, the Declaration of
Independence? I guess I had too much of my mind on Barney's colorful
rendition (by heart, too) of the Preamble to the Constitution! Larry
