The following suggestions came from Jim Clark.....Y'all talk 'em over and
come up with some times to meet. I'm leaving today so I won't be able to help
pick a time but Jan and I will have the name tags with me if WBMUTBB members
want to wear 'em.

-----

If folks are in town early enough on Saturday, it might be good to meet at
the end of the morning autograph session, which runs from 10 a.m. to Noon, at
New Castle Middle School. Maybe there'd then be a chance to get together for
lunch somewhere?

The Sat. evening portion is in the Bundy Auditorium (which I gather is part
of the same school), so that might be another opportunity to gather before or
after the show.

The event has asked TAGSRWC to set up a table at the autograph session (and
maybe also at the evening show). If WBMUTBB members want to use that as a
gathering point, that would be swell with me if there's enough room where
they have us set up. (In any case, I know that's where I'll be.)
---

I'll see y'all there. --Allan

That was "The Getaway", also with Steve McQueen & Ali
McGraw. I believe Howard & Sally Struthers were
Harold & Fran Clinton. As I recall, Harold
(Jack/Howard) hanged (hung) himself in the bathroom.
That was back before Sally Struthers did the
commercials for starving kids overseas and....er,
um..."expanded" to enormous proportions.

Lisa, that was "The Getaway" (1972) with Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw.
Incidentally, if you see this movie, look for the orange VW Beetle that they
pass as they flee the town after a bank robbery. It's driven by James Garner
who was visiting the set that day!

Judging from the various replys I've recieved about the subject, I obviously
didn't make myself clear. I don't mean double doors, patio doors, french
doors, or duplexes. Being a remodeling contractor, I'm familiar with those
things. I'm referring to older homes, almost always in rural areas, that
have two separate front doors. Both on the same side of the house, and
within a few feet of each other. The homes usually have a covered, but not
enclosed, front porch. Picture Andy's front porch, with two (2) front doors.
Maybe its just a Kentucky thing.

Sorry for getting off topic folks. From now on its strictly TAGS stuff for
me.

Along the lines of Calvin Coolidge's famous quote - "Everybody talks about
the weather but nobody does anything about it" (he did say that didn't he?),
I would like to mention that we all say we would like to go back to simpler
times. Well, as Mr. Tucker advised - "DO IT - JUST DO IT." After all,
Mayberry is a state of mind. One thing that will help achieve this state of
mind is to quit watching the news on TV - you can't do a thing about it
anyway. Living simpler will help - in my opinion, most people spend too
much money on decorations. Check out Rodney Dillard's / Bruce Hayes new CD -
"There Goes The Neighborhood", 2nd track called "Wicker Rocking Chair" - it
says it all.
Goober Linda - headed for the 7-11 for a bottle of pop.

Is there an e-mail or web-site we can mail Mr. Knots
(Ol' Barn) and wish him a Happy Birthday? How old
would Barn be?

You can find the recipe for Thelma Lou's Cashew Fudge and many other
Mayberry recipes in Aunt Bee's Cookbook. I bought mine at Waldenbooks (o=
r
maybe it was Barnes & Noble), but you might want to check out Ben Weaver'=
s
store. If you can't find it, e-mail me and I will copy it for you.=0D

Jack Dodson starred opposite Sally Struthers in "The Getaway" directed by Sam
Peckinpah in 1972. He later hung himself in the bathroom because he was
distraught over his wife (Sally Struthers) running away with a criminal. What
would mother think about that?

Leigh Anne wrote that where she was from, the deceased
was taken to a family home, and one of the relatives
had to sit up with them until the funeral.

Ray Stevens did an amusing song about this a few years
ago called "Sitting Up With The Dead".

On to Mayberry Things.......Sherry Lynn and I will be
leaving tomorrow evening (Friday) for Mayberry in the
Midwest......I'm hoping, but not counting on, getting
to the Autograph signing Sat am. Look forward to
meeting Bulletin Board Folks.

Jim

That would be "The Getaway" released in 1972. It starred Steve McQueen and
Ali McGraw.
