Ron Howard Rides Away from 'Alamo'

Ron Howard has decided not to direct "The Alamo" as
his follow-up to the Oscar-winning "A Beautiful Mind,"
although he and partner Brian Grazer are still moving
forward as producers of the film for the Walt Disney
Co., a spokesperson for Imagine Films Entertainment
said Monday. "Ron was anxious to get the film made,
and it started taking too long to develop," the
spokesperson said.

No replacement director has been selected, and
Howard has not decided what he will do instead.

The move stung Disney, which had counted on Howard
for a rare directing stint away from Universal.
Howard's last film apart from Universal was "Ransom,"
also for Disney.

Disney could not confirm whether Russell Crowe, who
had rearranged a crowded schedule to team again with
Howard after "A Beautiful Mind," would stay with "The
Alamo."

I think Barney paid for his haircut once and he told Floyd to buy a book on how
to do sideburns. Of course, with my memory lately I could be mistaken. I also
wanted to say that I had a wonderful time at Mayberry in the Midwest and hope
that it's going to be an annual event.

>>Nobody even took a guess, so I'm declaring you all officially stumped.
The
correct answer is Teri Garr, who appears very briefly in one TAGS episode:
"The Wedding."<<<

Hey Paul, I think you also stumped us on the "Andy's 10 hats" question a
while back. Did you ever publish the answer to that one (I could have
missed it while reading about Africa or Dingo Dogs, I'm not sure...they're
indigenous to Australia, you know..according to Calvin Coolidge)

Now all you finance whizzes have solved the Barbershop Rent/profit question
and a while back you determined what Opie's $50.00 find would be worth
today..but put your adding machines at the bank (and your buckets) to work
on this one. I never believed that Frank Myers $100 Bond could accumulate a
worth of over $200,000 in just over 100 years. Now I don't have the exact
figures here, but I'm sure someone does. It was $100 and I believe 8 1/2%
interest. (course being confederate money it wasn't worth diddly poo, but
we'll ignore that fact)

Soo...Was Frank Myer's bond really worth more that $200,000 or was that just
a good storyline??

....perhaps Mayberry in the Midwest will replace the Squad car convention in
Ohio as a Midwest annual event?? Curt will have to give us the official
answer, but I asked someone in the know who said there was "talk" of doing
it in New Castle again next year. It will probably take some time to poll
their sponsors. I think that was the key to their financial success.

I guess I'm just not a plunger....see ya boy

Just wanted to weigh in on the subject of Floyd's
income. I just came from SuperCuts ($12 + tip). The
customer in front of me purchased two bottles of stuff
for her hair. It came to $22!

If Floyd sold much of the hair care (Rose Water) and
facial products, etc. at that markup, he'd be doin'
O.K.

life to meet the stars of TAGS.They were all so friendly and kind and it was
an extra treat to be staying in the same hotel. As an added bonus I got to
meet Jim Clark (finally) and Alan Newsome.Alan really takes off on Floyd!!
It was an incredible two days and I can't wait for the next time. Anita

Maybe Floyd blew all his money in the "Floyd Lawson Enterprises" venture. Or,
he took too many trips to Nashville, or watched "The Sultan" too many times
at the Carnival. Don't forget, he also blew a hundred looking for the Ross
treasure. But then again, he was an investor in Mr .Maxwell's folksong album.
Seems like ol' Floyd had several irons in the fire......What about his pledge
for the new church organ? Perhaps it was the wage/price spiral that took its
effect..........Or his date with "Apple Dumplin" who came in at 10 to 1......
