I agree with Skip K. I calculated $349,119.27 also.

Boy, does a peanut & tuna samich with ketchup sound
good right about now. Also, in the 'Talking Dog'
episode isn't that Mr. Schwump, without his rug,
sitting behind Goober in the Mayberry Diner?
I have to wonder if even the Mayberry Bank could
figure out how much Frank Myers bond is worth. Or the
return on Howard's mortgage or whatever he needs to do
to earn his 5%...

You guys (and/or gals) who are doing all this cipherin' about Floyd's rent
and Howard's investment return are just flaunting your education in the faces
of us poor Goobers who have trouble adding two plus two (Barney says the
answer is four but I don't know).
Goober Linda - I'll have another root beer float with ketchup this time

Have been seeing lots of discussion on how much Floyd made at the
Barbershop and such and would like to pass along a great web site for
calculating "how much is it worth today?". Go to:
http://www.westegg.com/inflation/
For example, if Floyd made $9,000 a year as a barber in 1961, that would
be equal to $51,759 in 2001 wages !
Hope this helps!...

I noticed something in the above-referenced episode that may have come up
before,
and if it has, please forgive me. But when Andy was on the phone with the
governor and the mayor was listening, then the mayor was trying to give his name
again and turned his head to speak into the phone, it looked like he was
speaking
into the ear piece instead of into the speaker. I wondered if this was just a
fluke, or if they did it on purpose because the mayor was supposed to be so
rattled about the call to the governor. (Or maybe he did speak into the speaker
and I am just crazy!)
Speaking of Barney getting gassed, I thought it was hilarious each time he did
it,
and another one was when he drank all those mulberry squeezin's from the
Darlin's. Then he tried to protect Opie from getting hitched to little
Andelina.
Mayberry sure did have some funny "gassed" moments!
"Tell the governor to put that in his smipe and poke it."
"I like you Andy. Do you like me? I have ALWAYS liked you."
