Paul,
There are really three men noted as saying that. They are Ben Franklin, Mark
Twain, and FDR. I had to consult with the Count on this 'un, since my thinkin'
cap had been on someone else's head. I can't stand to wear a hat after it's
been on someone else's head. My mother was the same way.

Who REALLY said, "Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does
anything about it?"

Officially attributed to Mark Twain.

Forget about the fictional Frank Myers and his bond. What if the REAL Frank
Myers,TAGS production manager, had in his possession some authentic props
from the show? If he decided to keep some of those props, today they would
probably be worth as much as that appreciated "fictional" bond. For example,
how much do you think someone would pay for that blue willow china set that
the Taylors ate their meals on?

------------

Or ...... what if Andy Clyde aka "Frank Meyers" had kept all his trinkets
and souvenirs from Hopalong Cassidy and The Real McCoys?
Wouldn't even need a bond. I sure wish I had some of the stuff I remember
having as a youth. Boy, howdy.

Paul,

I'm pretty sure the quote "Everybody talks about the weather but nobody does
anything about it" was made by Mark Twain. He also made the crack about our
national legislature bringing higher prices than any other governing body in
the world. He's a funny duck!

I believe Andy said it was Mark Twain...and he didn't get it from Calvin
Coolidge, either.

I thought of another couple hats - the coonskin cap in the episode where they
do the play about the founding of Mayberry. Also - a fishing hat in the
episode where the investigator comes down to check out the jail - and he
doesn't want to go frog giggin'.

Can't wait to get back to the black and white shows on TV Land and Nick at
Nite. The colored ones are just not as good.

To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

While channel surfing at about 3:15 a.m. Sunday morning, I saw Aneta Corsaut
guest starring in a 'Columbo' episode. She played Nurse Morgan. The episode
is entitled 'A Stitch in Time." Leonard Nimoy portrayed Dr. Mayfield, a heart
surgeon and Will Geer played an older, revered doctor. This episode
originally aired on February 11, 1973. Nurse Morgan (Aneta Corsaut)
administers a shot in Will Geer's arm. Did she realize that he almost married
Aunt Bee in the 'Mayberry R.F.D.' two part episode 'Aunt Bee's Cruise?' Did
she know that Mr. Spock. . .excuse me. . .Dr. Mayfield passed through
Mayberry in two 'Star Trek' episodes? Andy liked to date nurses and now Aneta
Corsaut later portrayed one.

Goodnight Nurse!

I know I'm late getting this in, but I just had to say a few words about my
first ever Mayberry event -- "Mayberry in the Midwest." Like many other
unfortunate souls, I was unable to acquire tickets to the Friday and Saturday
evening shows. However, my husband, two-year-old daughter, and I drove
approximately 3 to 3 1/2 hours to attend the Saturday morning autograph
session. It was worth it! I was finally able to meet Betty Lynn -- what a
lady! She didn't put on airs like some highfalutin Hollywood type, no sir.
She was very kind, sweet, and gracious (I think as many times as I've heard
her described that way, Betty Lynn's picture ought to appear in the
dictionary beside the word "gracious"!). She even made it a point to speak
to my daughter and ask her some questions. That Betty Lynn is a gem! I also
got to meet Maggie Peterson Mancuso, and she was just as nice and down to
earth as Betty Lynn. I also enjoyed meeting our own Allan Newsome, David
Browning, and the fellow who dresses up like Otis. (By the way, will someone
please tell me his name? It's Kenneth something, I think.) Anyway, I'm so
happy I was able to go to New Castle, even if only for the autograph session.
I appreciate all the hard work that Curt Bell and others put in to make the
weekend possible. If they hold it again next year, my goal is to get tickets
to the shows!

RE: Weather Trivia:

Mark Twain (Samuel L. Clemens) has often been quoted as saying:
"Everybody talks about the weather but nobody does anything about it."
(although it appears his collaborator on The Gilded Age, Charles Dudley
Warner, actually wrote the statement). Mark definitely had some opinions
about the weather and climate.

I hope this is the answer to the question , but who knows?

I am the person who started to question about Floyd's Barber Shop when
Howard wanted to earn 5% on his money. I now understand where everyone is
coming from and I am glad that so may of you contributed to the tagsrwc.
I think it is really neat how much conversation it created and how it
expanded into how much Floyd earns and also the interest on the $200,000
conferate money.

Good Job to all. Thanks, LES

Jack:

I think the $51,759 amount for Floyd's income expressed in
today's dollars
sounds reasonable. I've prepared the tax returns and financial
statements
for a few barbers (not hair stylists) over the years, and your
estimate is in
line with their incomes. In fact, a couple of them have
exceeded your amount
by handsome sums. But of course, they had three chair shops.

Hey all.

I need some help!

Strange question, but how many times (if any) is a fan in TAGS? I know they
talk about one during Barney's hick-ups, I know Aunt Bee is seen on the
porch with one in her hand, but is there ever a cieling or electric desk fan
seen? Which episodes?

I believe Mark Twain is given the credit for the above quote.

I believe that might have been Mark Twain. This is my first post to the
board, so I hope this works. I have always been scared to intrude before
now, but, after all these weeks of just reading everyone else's comments, I
felt like I was listening in on a party line without speaking up. Anyway,
be gentle with me if my guess is wrong.
