I wouldn't be surprise if ol' Ernest T doesn't hold the show record for
saying "I love you."

How about when Aunt Bee was about to marry Mr. Goss and Andy said
something to her along the lines of "when folks love one another, they
can't be happy if the other one ain't." And when she made up the romance
with the butter and egg man and Andy again convinces her that he loves
her so much that she's a part of the family no matter what. That kind of
love was so special.

The versatile Mr. Melville was on last night's episode as Clyde, Millie's
former boyfriend from Mt. Pilot. He tried to scare Howard away from
courting Millie.

And as everyone knows, he played Sam the butcher (Alice's boyfriend) in
Brady Bunch.

Now was this the last one filmed or the last one shown? It can be different
each way. I always did think Floyd seemed especially sick in "Goober's
Contest," talking slower than usual, etc. Then again he had a really big part
in that one.

>>>I was watching the episode where the man was recording performances by
people in Mayberry and was wondering why nobody asked the Darlings to
perform for him. Jim Lindsey would've been another one to record.

Great musicians (though I wouldn't put Jim Lindsey in the "folk" category),
but they weren't available at the time. Jim Lindsey had left town a few
months before (episode 3) to go on the road with Bobby Fleet and his Band
with a Beat. The Darlings were still back up in the hills somewhere. Andy
didn't become acquainted with them for another two years (episode 88). Had
Andy known the Darlings when Mr. Maxwell came to town, he would probably
have encouraged them to perform for him.

I like your idea about looking for Andy's autograph on ebay - that's a GOOOD
'un!

I agree with you about having Mayberry in our hearts and being helpful, but
let's keep in mind that Allan moderates more than one TAGS list and he may have
run into this autograph seeker on more than one list.
For instance, on another list this same autograph seeker asked the same
questions about a month ago, and was politely told by the list moderator (not
Allan) that Andy likes his privacy and does not want his
address given out. The autograph seeker was then given a list of upcoming
events where he or she could get autographs from the other stars who DO choose
to sign autographs.

I think several of us HAVE tried to help this autograph seeker in the past,
just not giving out Andy's address (we were asked for Andy's address and his
city on the other list, and the point was clearly made
this fan would gladly drive to his home). I think Allan is trying to protect
Andy from having overzealous fans show up in town and start asking for Andy. I
think we all want to protect Andy from this.

I am an autograph seeker myself and would also love to have Andy's autograph,
and I can sure sympathize with any fellow autograph seeker, but we all have to
be willing to take "no" for an answer.

Hey Flora,

Thanks for that note and you're 100% correct. This person has written to me
directly asking the same stuff saying they wanted to go and ring Andy's door
bell. I'm glad some folks, like you, understand that I do a lot of stuff
behind the scenes that sometimes might cause my reaction here on the Digest to
seem "strong" or an "over reaction."

I'm sorry that some of you felt I was hard on this person but I still believe
we should honor Andy's wishes for privacy.

Well, it looks as though Rodney Dillard brought the Hickory Crawdads some
very good luck on Sunday August 4. The Crawdads beat the Delmarva Shorebirds
8 - 0.He must have put a Darling hex on Delmarva. Additionally, according to
Delmarva Shorebirds annoncer Shane Griffin, the Crawdads public address
announcer was very LOUD. Then again, it could have been a super sensitive
microphone like Barney used in the TAGS episode 'Barney and the Choir.'

We were watching the episode "Andy's Trip To Raleigh" where Andy had to meet
with that "grim, heavy set" lawyer, Lee Drake, and asked Howard to stand in
for him by taking Helen to the Harvest Ball. Got me to thinking...How many
episodes either mention or show a dance going on in Mayberry? There are
lots...both high school reunion episodes, the Gomer/Goober/Fun Girls
episode, and the Henry Bennett/Jinx just to name a few. How many can you
name?

Keith in Nebraska

Lee Drake: "Andy, are you sure you don't want to go for a swim? It's
going to get awfully hot out here."

Andy: "I like heat."

I reckon when the man from the record company was in town Jim Lindsey was
out traipsin' around the countryside with Bobby Fleet. It is right curious
though, why the Darlings weren't asked to play. Maybe they weren't in the
picture yet. I'm not sure exactly when that episode happens in the order of
things. Maybe someone real smart out there could help us out on this one.
