Not to keep beating a dead horse or anything, but let me give it one last
kick. Its one thing when a celebrity is constantly in the news for various
misbehavings, or is plastering their face on the talk-show circuit, and then
whines about a lack of privacy. I don't have any sympathy for such a person
as that. But to my knowledge Andy has never been a publicity hound, and has
always valued his privacy. It does my heart good to see that we all (or most
of us!) respect that. Like someone on the digest recently said, Ange has
given so much of himself to us, if all he asks in return is that we respect
his privacy, well that's the deal of the century.

I always enjoy seeing a young Jack Nicholson on trial, but I also enjoy the
performance of the jury foreman. His name escapes me, but he also played
Ben Weaver in the shoplifter episode and, my favorite appearance albeit a
short one, Goober's exuberant fan when Howard goes on TV. He's the fan that
comes into the court house and asks Goober for driving lessons. He's got
such a boisterous laugh that it is infectious.

I goofed up Allan MELVIN's name in my post yesterday. I must have been
thinking about that fella who wrote about the big white whale ;-)

How about the square dance Aunt Bee and Senator Canfield went to and
really cut a rug? Andy and Helen couldn't keep up with them.

To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
For those in the area that don't know, David Browning will be appearing
at the Greenville (SC) Braves minor league game on Saturday, August 17 at
7:15 pm. It will be a great evening and we are looking forward to seeing
David and also to any WBMUTBB friends that will be there. Hopefully there
will a lot, as I have noticed a good number of upper South Carolina fans
writing the Digest. If you are planning to go and would like to contact us
we would love to meet up with you.
ALSO, we are sponsoring a group of kids from Connie Maxwell Childrens
Home (www.conniemaxwell.com) with tickets to the game. At this point we
expect almost 40. We plan on also treating the kids to a snack and drink.
This is about $5 a person. (A good bit more than the refreshments at Opie's
game. He was safe!) If any one would like to help with a contribution,
please contact us and we will provide details. Most of all we are looking
forward to the kids having fun, meeting as many of you as possible that can
attend the game and seeing David again.
Well, hello to all of our TAGS friends, especially those too far away
from Greenville to come to the game (You know who you are). Keep a happy
thought.

I seem to remember on a show with the cast or a biography special about TAGS
that after the stroke he was still at home getting well. The show needed a
boost when Don Knotts left so Andy and the producers decided to call Howard
and ask if he would like to appear in a few episodes. The show said that
Howard and his wife were thrilled. They had thought that his part in the
show was over. Although the show did make concessions. He was always shown
sitting, and if you notice his arm motions mainly came from the right side.
His speech was also affected after the stroke. Andy always said that with
Don Knotts, Howard Mcnear was the only other person that could make him
really laugh. I hopw this info is correct,

I've been trying to conjure up a picture of me making it past the pit bulls
or whatever and ringing Andy's doorbell to ask for an autograph. Once I get
past this obstacle, then I'll conjure up an image of him opening his door
either in his nightshirt and cap or the striped 'jammies and his gray hair
all over the place like he looks in Matlock.

Hello:
In the episode where Jubel's barn is destroyed by fire, Andy is about to write
out a check to pay for the damages supposedly caused by Opie. Maybe I wrong
here, but wouldn't Andy's homeowners insurance cover this?

How about the time that Andy was talking to Opie about Opie's mom. He told him
he had a strong love for her. Also in the first episode Andy said that Rose
loved the man she was marrying. It was only right for her to love him back.

This is an interesting topic. I think it might be a reflection of the
times, or else something that just wasn't done on TV, kind of like showing a
toilet. :) I can't remember the Cleavers or the Bradys saying it either.

I am a Special Education teacher in West Tennessee who has never been in one
of these lists(contrary to popular belief), and just wanted to ask a question
about possibly getting an autograph of Andy Griffith. I certainly an not
going to ring doorbells as a lot of people are making me out to be, and I do
respect the celebrity's privacy. I just dont see the harm in writing to him
or whatever and seeing if it would be ok. I am perfectly comfortable with
being told no by him. I just think it would be neat to have my picture of
him signed to start to complete a collection of a lot of autographs from the
show. I mean Otis didnt have a problem with me asking, and he even sent my
whole class autographed pictures. They class also made autograph books and
several of the other celebrities from the show signed it for them when they
were in Nashville back in 91. Like I said, I just thought it would be neat
to get his autograph too. I was just wondering if it was possible to meet
him like I did with everyone else.
