Subject: Andy's Homeowners Insurance - Jubal's barn
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I don't think Andy's homeowners insurance would cover Jubal's barn for
several reasons:
1) It was not on Andy's property nor did it belogn to Andy
2) Andy has no "insurable interest" in Jubal's barn
3) An insurance adjuster might not have proven who's fault it was
4) An insurance adjuster might have discovered the real cause of the fire
5) Opie and the boys were technically commiting a crime (trespassing) in that
they were on Jubal's property. Even if, by any stretch the above four didn't
apply, the company might not cover losses incurred during the commission of a
crime (trespassing) which resulted in a possible felony (destruction of
personal property with a value of greater than $200 or possibly arson)...
Sorry for rambling on, but it's the profession you know.....

Not to make a moulage out of this, but I just wanted to state my opinion on
the subject of Andy. While I do agree that Andy has his right to privacy
and yes I do agree that he has given us so many years of good , clean
entertainment with TAGS and Matlock and, to me, being a christian that is a
great gift. But on the other hand, it is the fans that has made Andy and
all the TAGS gang the American Icon they are today. Without the countless
number of fans that watch TAGS every single day and attend all of these
Cast Reunions, there would be no TAGS. So while I do agree that Andy and
any one of the cast members certainly have the right to their privacy, I
disagree on one point. They do owe the success of TAGS to the fans.
Without the fans there would be no need for any of this. That is why, I
believe that the other cast members attend the Reunions and sit for hours
and sign autographs. To give us, The Fans, back a little of what we have
given them. That is why I love TAGS and Andy and all of the Gang!!!!

>>In the episode where Jubel's barn is destroyed by fire, Andy is about
to write out a check to pay for the damages supposedly caused by Opie.
Maybe I wrong here, but wouldn't Andy's homeowners insurance cover
this?<<
Now maybe there are some insurance adjustors on this list with a better
answer, but it seems that if anyone's insurance was going to cover it,
it would be Jubel's. I'm pretty sure that my homeowners doesn't cover
me burning down someone else's property.
Any insurance agents out there?

Like Bert - the unpushy salesman - Those ringing doorbells are driving me
crazy. And as Barney might say "I think I've heard just about enough about
them ringing doorbells".
Goober Linda - I've got an AG autograph - at least it's SUPPOSED to be
authentic but who would ever know.

Hey Braves Fan,
Why don't you write to Andy via his management company? I'm sure it would
be easy enough to find out who they are, and then you don't have to worry
about bothering old Ange.
Speaking of celebrities and education -- everyone in my fourth grade class
wrote to Roald Dahl (author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), and he
wrote us a very nice letter back. That same year I wrote a letter to C.S.
Lewis, only to receive a form letter from his estate informing me that he
was deceased.
Recently I met the young actress Julia Stiles in a health food store in New
York. She was very friendly and signed an autograph for me.
Cheers,
Jason

I think that to add insult to injury would be for someone to knock on Andy's
door and ask him to sign a "Salvage I " 8 x 10 cast photo. He would probably
slam the door in disgust and mutter that expletive that he used so much on
"Matlock." It's not bad or slang. It's the "J" word and is a synonym for flop
ear mule.

Dear Layne,
I read your message about insurance on the wbmutbb digest. As a
former police officer, I know of no insurance, Homeowners or any other
kind that will pay off on a crime. Had Opie really been responsible for
burning that barn down it would have been Arson. That wouldn't be unlike
your auto insurance paying for a car that your 12 year old son stole and
then wrecked. If you find an insurance company that will pay such
claims, please let me know. I sure would not want to invest any money in
their stock because I don't think they would be around very long.
I'm no insurance salesman so I may be wrong. It's just what I came
up with while I had my bucket on.
Have a Mayberry Day!

{Response to the following:}
"Allen Melvin became a semi-regular on the Gomer Pyle,
USMC show. He played Sgt Hacker who was always bet-
ting against Sgt. Carter, usually involving something
Gomer would or wouldn't do. He was the Mess Sgt.
He also played Rob Pettry's army buddy in the old Dick
VanDyke series. He and his friend showed up when Rob
and Laura went to Mexico to get married.
He was a "bit-part" player on several other shows -
just wish I could remember what they were.
Laura in Phx=0D
P.S. Goober says 'Hey!'"
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////
I have several episodes of vintage-- shall we say-- TV
programs. Allen Melvin is every single episode of the
old Phil Silvers Show, AKA "Sgt Bilko" that I have. He
is usually a non-speaking corporal in background-shots,
but he does have an occasionanal line as he IS one of
MSG Bilko's two "junior NCOs [CPLs]."
--An UN-trained noticer in Germany.
P.S. Believe he was a butcher-boyfriend in some show and
dated a character named "Alice"-- though the name of the
show escapes me; Partridge Family? I was in Vietnam during
the run of THAT show and Gomer Pyle, so you can't depend
on many of MY flash-backs. Bilko, though, is on tapes I
have- thus documented for certainty.

Before anyone takes offense, just think of how cautious the average person
has to be in today's society. Now imagine being a celebrity who has a
following that still discusses a show that has not been in active production
for about 30 years. If I were him, I would be extremely leery of someone who
was attempting to meet me. We really can't take that personally - just put
yourself in Andy's place. Too bad he doesn't have Gomer and Otis as his body
guards!

After all these years of watching TAGS, I just noticed something the other
night. The back door is in a different place in the newer, (color) TAGS. In
the episode when Opie joins a band, the door is on the side of the house with
the hinges on the right, while in earlier episodes, (for example, the pickle
story), it is on the back, beside the sink, with the hinges on the left. This
is clearly seen when Barney leaves with the suitcase full of pickles, and Andy
closes the door on his arm. BTW, I am aware that it is only a show and not
real life, but was wondering if there was ever any reference to it in the show
that I might have missed?

Can someone refresh me about who went to the house of Andy Griffith and rang
the doorbell and what happened. If this is all that happened, I do not see
why that people have been talking about it for the last 3 weeks it seems in
the digest and what the big deal is. I am a great fan of Andy and would like
to know.

Eddie Haskell is Mr. McBeevee's son!!
Karl Swenson, our beloved Mr. McBeevee, appeared last night on Leave it to
Beaver as George Haskell, Eddie's father. I don't know if this is a
recurring role or if it is just the first time I made the connection.
