"Amen" to what John Skaggs said. There are all sorts of TAGS fans. Some
like only the B&W episodes, others love 'em all. Some of us enjoy
examining all the intricate details of a classic television production,
others just watch the shows. Some folks have fun with sightings of
characters outside of Mayberry proper (it's kinda like searching for
out-of-state license plates when you're on the highway), others think
that Mayberry exists only in the 22 minutes between the opening and
closing credits. I'm sort of a wannabe--wishing I had the time to attend
every Mayberry event, buy all the memorabilia, acquire all the
autographs, etc. But I'm fairly satisfied with what I have: Andy on TV
Land every day, TAGSRWC via the Internet, and the WBMUTBB digest to chew
the fat a little. Folks, WE ARE BLESSED!
P.S.: Just my opinion, but I think the Gomer Pyle and R.F.D. spinoffs, as
well as the "Return to Mayberry" movie, are a great resource for a
broader understanding of the Mayberry experience, even if they don't have
"the magic."
"Yeah, boy!"

I forgot Alan's being Archie Bunker's pal so thanks for reminding us.
Meanwhile, I saw Old Man Flint on a movie last night called "Raggedy
Man." It was a good 'un.

I feel kinda of afraid to say this but I often
see TAGs characters on other shows of that era.and enjoy them..
I was wondering who the actress was who played
The Lady in the eps.in which E T Bass ruined her her party. The one where
she called him a "creeetcher"
She plays Ms. Rayburn in Leave It to Beaver.
I have seen her in several old movies and find her quite good.
Don't mean to ask the wrong thing. If anyone knows would apprecaite it.
Thanks , Pandora

Hey Everybody,
We have a rule on here not to chastise other TAGS fans and not to put
down other Mayberry shows. We cannot expect Mayberry RFD and Return to
Mayberry to be like TAGS. TAGS had it's day and RFD and Return to
Mayberry had theirs. I enjoyed both because RFD and Return to Mayberry
had alot of the same characters and the same good morals. Anytime, I get
to see Mayberry and it's fine folks is always a blessing to me, whether
it is on TAGS, Mayberry RFD or Return to Mayberry. I think it is best to
not compare each series or shows, but just enjoy the best in all of them.
I would not give up my Return to Mayberry video to anyone, because it
does bring back good memories of days gone by and besides, Big Barn and
Thelma Lou finally tied the knot. SHAZAM, that is worth it all.
Now, THATS A TIME!

Now, I really don't think we all need to get our back up over what Gary said.
He was simply expressing his opinion of what constitutes Mayberry -- doing
some philosophizing about the "Mayberry experience" -- and I believe he said
it without any hostility toward the rest of us. When you think about it,
there's a lot of truth in what he said. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean that
the way others of us experience Mayberry is any less valid. The fact is,
each one of us may experience Mayberry in a different way -- and that's okay.
(Hope I'm not being too relativistic here!) In fact, I think it's
interesting to hear the differing points of view of our members. It sort of
broadens our horizons to consider another's point of view, don't you think?
So just sit back, friend, and see if you can peel an apple without breaking
the skin!
Barney: "Are you still mad?"
Andy: "I ain't mad!"
Barney: "Then why are your jaw muscles workin'?"
Have a Mayberry day,
Thelma Lou

After I threw a coffee cup at Mr. Goob this morning, and being the Goober
that I am, I started trying to recall all the instances where there were
struggles and / or people squaring off to fight in Mayberry's version of
physical violence. Off the top of my head, I see Barney trying to get at
Gomer for KISSIN' Thelma Lou on the jaw, Malcolm Merriweather & Ernest T
Bass settling an argument over the Irish and Englishters, Clyde Plaunt ready
to give "what for" to Howard. There's the Floyd and Mr. Foley incident,
Skippy & Daphne's friend giving Andy a black eye, Opie's black eye he earned
from Billy? I know there's a lot more so put your buckets on.....

A quick one that comes to mind is Dud Wash, (the Bob Denver version) trying to
get at Andy, (kind of half heartedly) after Charlene's midnight "divorce

The only other fight I can think of is the couple that Andy fined " ten
dollars or ten days - you've got chickens to throw, you've got chickens to
sell!" With the Jubel Foster incident, that was really a peaceful protest,
although Barney felt they had a "situation". Oh yes - there was Fred, the
employee of Foley's who Mr. Yakamoto beat up. And there was Thelma Lou giving
Barney a bloody nose for getting fresh. Hmmm... I guess Mayberry wasn't as
peaceful as I thought.

I'm a little behind on the board so I'm not pro-purist or anti-purist, I'm
just here to vote for Andy.
This week I has the unfortunate development of going in for surgery. I had
my reservations just like Opie with his tonsils, only mine was in the leg,
not in the throat..maybe somewhat close to the petula oblongata...Well
anyway it's a game leg for sure..torn Achilles.
As I was being stuck with the IV, and poked and pumped and prodded, I broke
into a nervous sweat. As the preliminaries were winding down, the nurse
handed me the TV remote, and asked if I wanted to watch something, while she
put a cold washcloth on my head. I didn't have my watch, but somehow my
clock in my stomach told me what time it was. I quickly flipped to our
local UPN station and there in beautiful black and white were my
friends...Andy, Barney, Aunt Bee Opie and Helen. It was the delightful
episode when Helen first arrives and Andy taught the boys about history
through the "minuteman club" with his stirring rendition of the story of
Paul Revere.
In just a few minutes, I was as cool as a cucumber and everything was
alright. I think the heart monitor even started beeping slower. Modern
medicine has lots of marvels, but a dose of Andy was just what I needed at
that time.

Dear Fellow Mayberry Friends:
I was watching the "Miracle Salve" episode again recently and realized that I
had only seen this episode in re-runs. These always end with the group
standing around all the boxes in the Taylor living room while Barney looks
very sad as Gomer starts to tell Andy the whole story. Is there an epilogue
to this show or is that where the original ended? Thanks for any help you can
give me.

Hey gang, Living here in Ohio, I subscribe to Ohio magazine, and in the Aug.
2002 issue, page 10 a picture of the Mayberry folk on an Etch A Sketch caught
my eye. You all have had an Etch A Sketch haven't you? Well, this gentleman
can do remarkable sketches on them. He has done sports celebrities,
presidents, the Beatles, Elvis and the cast of our favorite show among others.
Mr. Vlosich is 23 years old and his talent was discovered as a child. The
article stated he had been interviewed by Barbara Walters on 20/20 and has
appeared on Regis and Ripleys Believe It or Not. Both Sports Illustrated and
People magazines have run articles on his art. Maybe some of you have heard
of this before but it was new to me. The Ohio Art Company showed him how to
reengineer the toy to save his work and supply him with Etch A Sketches.
Anyways, on his website, you can view the TAGS cast and read more about Mr.
Vlosich. It is www.gvetchedintime.com On the companies website,
www.etch-a-sketch.com I found out there are other people who do this, but I
haven't checked them out. In Ohio magazine, the two pictures shown was Elvis
and the cast of TAGS. I just wanted to share this with you all!
Good Sabbath to all!!

How about when Barney used the "old body block" on

I love the face that Barney makes while he is rolling
around on the ground with him!!!!
