Emmett, I'm familiar with "The Back Porch" restaurant on Main St. in
Prosperity, SC near Newberry. They are well known for their country cooking
and southern hospitality. Have eaten there many times! Hope this is the one
you're thinking of.

When I saw Sallie's post about sharing a birth date with Aunt Bee, I thought
I'd say that I'm proud to share with Howard Morris, on September 4th. He's
such a sweet man.....I even got to give him a peck on the cheek recently!
Is there anyone else out there who shares birth dates with a TAGS star?

Some guy from out of town, I think a state police officer, was acting
sheriff. Andy, Opie, Goober and Aunt Bee all went fishing and drove up in a
station wagon just as Gomer's bus was headed out of town.

To the Chapmans. What an eloquent tribute to Mayberry and this
digest in general. I so enjoy this place and it brightens my day
every day. When things are bad and I have had a terrible night in
the ER and I am feeling cynical ; I think well I just cannot deal
with "happy" right now. I check my email and here is the
digest.and Alan never misses a day!!!! Not a day!!!
I appreciate that so much. Sometimes we all feel like Barney
trying to explain Baked Alaska.but this digest nudges things
back in perspective, then I am laughing so hard I am splitting
         my sides.
Thanks so much... Have a great day Laverne .

I sure enjoyed Jenny's ideas about the Mayberry
Reality Show....

As Briscoe said to Aunt Bee: "it was your "hart"
speaking to my hart", to live in a place where kids
can play on their own... to have Andy's, Floyd's and
Opie's in our lives.... wow that is so great to
imagine. I think about the fact that my daughter was
not able to be out after dark, playing "run sheep run"
or any of the other childhood games that we all played
as children. I remember how neat it was to play "hide
and seek" around dusk, because unless you were wearing
white, you had a good chance of not being caught. It
sure would be nice to sit on the porch after supper
with Aunt Bee, Andy and maybe Malcom or Barney while
we watched Opie and Johnny Paul Jason play......

......oh flibbertigibett.......

The Front Porch Restaurant is located just off I-77 on exit 65 (Hwy 9) in
Richburg, SC. I've never been there, but I understand it's a great place.
Hope you enjoy it, Emmett! Tell ever'one I said "hey".

Better take it over to Wally's and let Gomer look at it. Wouldn't want it
to have sawdust in the transmission, it's the oldest trick in the book
you know!
