1960..........Wait, there's more - he was born ten minutes into the debut of
TAGS!!! Yes, he was born DURING the TAGS debut on 10/3/60......We verified
this with the time computing machines at the Bureau of Vital Statistics, and

About this Gomer coming home on leave and no one being there.
Was this a Gomer Pyle USMC episode or an Andy Griffith Show episode?
Dapper but Confused Dan
I haven't seen that particular Gomer Pyle USMC episode in many years, but
here's what I recall. Please, anyone correct me if I'm wrong. Gomer takes a bus
to Mayberry while on leave. When he arrives a few townsfolk say hey as if they
didn't even realize he's been gone for a few years. Gomer enters the
courthouse, looks around and sees a photo of Barney. A state police officer
then comes in and tells Gomer he is the acting sheriff while Andy, his family
and Goober are on vacation. Gomer then gets involved in some sort of bank
robbery. After he helps catch the crooks he gets back on the bus and leaves. As
the bus pulls away he sees the squad car pull up and Andy, Opie, Aunt Bee and
Goober get out. I believe that episode aired in the final season of the Andy
Griffith Show which was the second to last season of Gomer Pyle USMC.

Hey, Chris,
Im pretty sure that in the epilogue of "Don't Miss a Good Bet", the
money is recovered and someone says $500 is recovered. They wonder
aloud who that other person is who lost 100$ and Andy merely
promised to find "him".
Also, I would just like to recommend that any of you who have never
been to Mayberry Days, consider going. We have been for the past 3
years and will be back this year. We started out just hearing
about it and now we're involved in the shows and such. We travel
over 500 miles from Paducah KY and it is well worth it. Its just
pure fun, and a happy time. It's not overcrowded, no rowdy,
troublesome people, just nice fun. You will be glad you went and
it will become a very enlightening moment into the nature of Andy's
hometown and how truly loved the show is by everyone present and
the townspeople. Go to the shows if you can, but even if you
don't, you'll enjoy a great time.

>>> ... Aunt Bee, Helen, Floyd, Goober and eventually Andy each put in $100
to finance a hunt for buried treasure on the outskirts of Mayberry. In the
end the organizer winds up being a crook and skips town with the loot.
Unfortunately, our station never shows the episode trailers, so I'm not sure
if indeed the good people of Mayberry lost their money. >>>
In the epilogue, Andy happily reports that the crook was caught at the
station with "all $500" on him. The other investors are surprised at this
total, since they were aware of only four investors (Andy is too embarrassed
to admit that he too fell for the scheme).

Subject: Birthday sharing
When I saw Sallie's post about sharing a birth date with Aunt Bee, I
thought
I'd say that I'm proud to share with Howard Morris, on September 4th.!
He's
such a sweet man.....I even got to give him a peck on the cheek recently!
Is there anyone else out there who shares birth dates with a TAGS star?
Carolyn in Nebraska
Through happy coincidence my birthday is June 1st, the same as Andy
himself. It's been kind of fun keeping track of what Andy was doing when
our ages were parallel. Now, however, we're into the Mayberry R.F.D.
years. Odd facts known by few: Andy was born on the exact same day as
Marilyn Monroe: June 1st, 1926. Lots luck to you and yours,K.C. (:-D

I need some assistance. I'm going to be speaking at a church women's
gathering
next month, and I want to use the quote from the Warren/bingo episode. Andy
warns Warren about not messing with the ladies aid society, and a tiger with
his tail waggin' (?) and something else. I don't have that episode on tape,
so could
someone help me out with the exact quote? Thanks! Neil--never dry as

Hey all, was watching the Waltons on tvland the other day, and the church was
having their annual picnic-part of the entertainment was from the younger
sunday school children, and guess what their sunday school teacher was
directing them in singing?? You guessed it, none other than good ol` 14A,
although I gotta admit, it did not sound the same without Barney going flat
at the end! (they even ended it at the exact same moment as on tags when
Barney goes flat, except all of the dear sweet children`s voices were right
on key-John Masters would have been proud!
Just wanted to share my Mayberry moment with all of you-of course, I
always get a kick out of seeing Mrs. Letsch on the Waltons! Have a great
Mayberry day!

Am I seeing things or was Andy's house just two doors down from Peggy's
last night? I noticed this as Andy parked the squad car behind her new
