are some of the Silent Auction items donated so far. If you have something

Thank you to everyone who has contacted me with donations and offers to help

non-profit organization, so you get a benefit as well. I've got bid sheets
ready for the above items, but if you bring something on a whim, we can
always fill out a blank one on the spot.

I hope everyone will stop by to see all the items (and put in a bid!) during
the auction. Please introduce yourself so you can meet other WBMUTBB
members. It should be another fun event and Surry Arts Council appreciates
your support.

Speaking of meeting other WBMUTBB members, in previous years we have tried
to get everyone together for introductions and group photos. I hope we can
do that again - perhaps after the trivia contest on Friday? I look forward
to seeing friends again and meeting new ones.

To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I have a copy of the Will of Frances Bavier, aka Aunt Bee....It is rather
interesting.....She gave away more than she had, I believe, but she was very
generous to the area Police and Fire Departments etc.....I don't know how
popular this item is, but has anyone else seen it?

Last week, someone wrote in about an episode of Gomer Pyle USMC in which he
returns to Mayberry, solves a crime, then sees Andy and Opie as he's
pulling out of town on a bus.

I've never seen this episode before and would love to get a tape of it. If
anyone out there would make one, I would be glad to cover expenses.

Thanks.

Well, I was able to talk to three different people who
knew "Aunt Bee." It was a little diasappointing but
not too bad. They said she had a hard time with the
small town atmosphere since she was from New York.
They said she was very selective in choosing friends.
They also told me that many people rang her doorbell
when she first moved there expecting "Aunt Bee" to
come to the door with an apple pie. She made it very
clear to them that she was Frances, not Aunt Bee. She
had a great interest in cats and had a lot of them.
She was very private and one man told me she would
hardly ever answer her door. They told me that Ron
Howard came to see her and that she would not see him.
They also said she was pretty sick in her last days
battling breast cancer. It was neat to be in the
driveway right next to her house talking to her
neighbor.

My wife and I were inquiring at Lowes about a second
job (we are in seminary). The lady said "we have an
opening in the meat department." My wife looked at me
and said "You know anything about cutting meat?" I
said "You thank they'll ask me that?" We both started
laughing and the lady wandered what we were laughing
at!

Subject: What did Calvin Coolidge Say?
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

While pondering Floyd's comments on what Calvin Coolidge might have said, I
ran across something mighty important that he wrote way back yonder before a
good portion of America was comotose. Wanna hear? Read this:

Calvin Coolidge, our 30th President of the United States wrote, "The
foundations of our society and our government rest so much on the teachings
of the Bible that it would be difficult to support them if faith in these
teachings would cease to be practically universal in our country."

This quote is from a document about America's Christian Roots. If you would
like for me to email it to you, let me know. Please use Calvin Coolidge for
your subject when you email.

This morning I was working with my little girl on her reading. The word was
pop & there was a "soft drink" in a bottle in the picture above it. Of
course, she likes to look at the picture instead of sounding out the word, so
she says, "Coke." Cracked me up & made me think of the discussions we've been
having on what is it called??!!!

I grew up with black and white t.v. I can remember a time in my life when
the first television was delivered to our home. After it was installed by the
guy that delivered it, the first program was the Lone Ranger. This was the
early/mid 50s'.
Before Star Trek was the Andy Griffith Show, where Don Knotts played the
Deputy Sherriff of Mayberry under Sherriff Andy Taylor. I have probably
watched more episodes of the Andy Griffth Show more than any series of
television history because of Barney Fife. He did have a distant cousin who
spelled his last name Fyfe if I remember correctly. Otis, Aunt Bea, Opie, and
a list of others all bring back fond memories. I loved the pictures of the
series you displayed on the website, which prompted me to go this far, during
the first televised regular season NFL Football Game. I am leaving now to
return to the game.

I am in my early 40's and grew up in a small town (pop. 1888), near Joliet,
Illinois. I am a former preschool teacher, with a BS in psychology, who has
been a full-time mom since 1985, when my first son was born. I have three
sons, 17 y/o, 14 y/o, & 18 months old. My oldest son is in his second year of
jr. college. My middle son is away at military school. My toddler, Wolfie, is
the joy of the household.

TAGS reminds me of the days when kids played outside and adults were
addressed as Mr. or Mrs. or Miss. Each episode has something to learn from it
and the good feeling that I get after watching TAGS, esp the b&w episodes, is
the icing on the cake.

I have moved 9 times in the last 18 years, living in southern CA, Las Vegas,
and Illinois. I enjoy living in small rural towns best. The small, rural
towns just beyond the Chicago suburbs are experiencing a population boon. I
guess small town life, for me, will have to be lived vicariously through TAGS
--- unless we move again. (Yikes!)

I look forward to sharing your thoughts and ideas about TAGS.

Does anyone know if Helen Crump (as Aneta Corsaut) ever appeared in an
episode of "Leave It To Beaver"? A friend thought she had a cameo in an
episode, perhaps just an appearance and not a speaking part even. Thanks for
any help with this question.
Lots of luck to you and yours!
